On the radio the said "everyone can be Swedish", this is offensive most Swedes' (actually born there) are extremely proud to be Swedish. Just look at it the other way. What if Sweden would have a festival where everyone could be Americans? The worst was the attitude of one policeman, just that alone made me decide to not come back. It's nice to see the Filipino youth & locals participate in this festivity, so they can learn and understand the Filipino culture/heritage. The cultural dances continue to stay the same and passed down from generations. I remember participating in the cultural dances and performing on stage. It definitely feels like yesterday. I'm happy to know that a little bit of my culture is being celebrated. This event happens every year on the last weekend of July. The festivities takes off with the adobo cook off on Friday evening while everyone else is setting up their booths. I'm guilty to have NEVER attended this part of the event. I hope one day I'll be able to check it out. The following day the festivities kick off with the parade downtown Delano usually at 10am and back to Cecil Park for the festivities. They usually have tents with Filipino food and halo-halo as well as other booths. I usually grab food from the Thai food tent. I know it's a Filipino festival then why buy Thai food haha. I eat Filipino food almost everyday and that Thai food stand has been part of Filipino weekend for as long as I can remember. They also have bounce houses for the kids, a train ride and even rock climbing. There's also a designated area for 21yr olds and over to grab a drink. End of July is always super hot and usually the weather is over 100°, so if you're not used to that temperature then I wish you the best of luck. Shade usually helps; however, if you're not from here then you should know that we have dry heat. Wind doesn't usually blow a whole lot, so you're literally sitting in the heat under the shade. Bring lots of water and possible a tent or umbrella to stay cool. Or be like me and come extra early or when it's almost over haha, but then you'll miss all the cool entertainment. I don't think you should miss it because the kids practiced all summer to get their dance down. The park is open to the public with no admission fee. They have a basketball tournament going down across the street at Delano HS and they have the Bingo going too. Those are two ways to stay cool. I recently found out they have a tennis tournament going also, so look out for that. Prior to the festival they usually post the pageants on their website for Tiny Tots, Miss Philippine Weekend, Mrs. & Mr. Philippine Weekend. You should check it out to support our local event.

Olde towne clovis blocked off and nicely placed car and cook-off entries. Well organized.......very accessable parking as opposed to the Tower Show and Cars on the Bluffs .......no security problems....antiquing in addition to the rock and roll music and varied eating spots in olde town clovis. Best hidden secret spot is the Java/coffee house with the patio that serves wine and beer and live Jazz out back.

I went to the strawberry festival last year, and there was everything for sale - except for strawberries. For this festival, they did a tremendous job with the theme, seating arrangements and food options. There were plenty of Greek food options to choose from , and the lines went pretty quickly. However, the food fell flat in my opinion. The rice pilaf was bland, the pita bread was not good , and the meats were just OK. I felt the prices weren't out of line, but there was nothing I tried that was better than any other restaurants in the area. The Church was beautiful, and the setup was perfect. I just wish the food tasted better.

We found parking on the street and stood in line momentarily. The festival opened at 11:00am. We stood in line for the Grill, were handed a tray and decided on the foods we wanted. I enjoyed a yummy salad and some naan. The portions were perfect and the prices just right. My husband enjoyed the french fries. Oh boy, there were a pile of them! I enjoyed my favorite orange Espa drink and everyone else got water. The festival is cashless like most businesses these days. It was no problem finding a spot for lunch, there were lots of tables set up and we enjoyed the live music playing. We shopped after lunch and stopped by a few of the booths set up as well: Blood Bank, Poverello House, and Health Concepts.

Now the Pomegranate Festival is nicely shaded with grassy areas and parking is not an issue. One thing I would like to see is vendor booth's going pomegranate crazy, nothing here says this is a pomegranate Festival. I would expect to find a plethora of food item's with pomegranate but nope you won't find that. There is a small car show, the food vendors get better every year (slightly) , the rest of the event is misc. booth's selling or advertising. The event is family friendly and is FREE!

I felt that was a bit high for no animals and limited rides. Tickets for rides $1 per ticket and most rides were 3-4 tickets each. My friend said the proceeds to go scholarships for local students, that made me feel better. My favorite thing about this fair was the talent show. The kids were super cute. Rides on the other hand looked a little scary, like they came out of the 70's. I admit I'm a bit of a fair snob, I grew up next to the county fair, which use to be amazing. But, this was a cute local town fair.

This was my first year at the olive and lavender festival and I loved it! I was so impressed by how…read moremany vendors were present. Of course, there was olive oil tastings as well as sample giveaways. There was tons of lavender products such as soaps, sachets, and teas. - In addition, there were specialty booths selling woven baskets, clothing, accessories, HomeGoods and a lot of information on gardening. There was a private section for 21 and over which included wine tasting. It was very peaceful and relaxing. - There were other freebies such as lavender honey iced tea, stickers and goodie bags as well as small bites like hummus and crackers, as well as guacamole and chips. You could also purchase olive oil gelato. - The entry to the event is free and local shops and restaurants celebrate with themes food and beverage. This year, parking has become free in Paso Robles, so it was definitely packed, but I was able to find parking within 10 minutes. I suggest bringing your own bag to carry your goodies and leave plenty of time to visit the information booth which provides a free guide to the vendors.
