I selected Friesen Farm because of their informative website and helpfulness over the phone. Coming from a long ways, I was unsure if they would have any peaches left so I was very glad to reserve an order by phone. When I arrived 4 hours later (cell signal was solid the entire way so you can't get lost), a modest crowd was there and the Friesen team was hard at work fulfilling their orders. I saw them pack boxes of nectarines, peaches, and plums by hand (COVID precautions prevented us customers from selecting our own). While waiting, I saw my order (3 bags) were ready for pick up, but the irresistible smell of their fruit compelled me to purchase more (I had to make the 250 mile drive worthwhile, right?). The associate (owner?) who was helping me assured me that it was no trouble to return all the fruit from my previous order and pack the boxes I wanted to take home. While packing my boxes, we engaged in some small talk and she convinced me that I must return late February to see the blossoms. By the look in her eye, and the excitement in her voice I could tell that it was a must-see spectacle so I hope she remembers me when I come back in 2021! But something makes me think I will be back before then to get more fruit here. Now the fruit is indescribably delicious! I could use all the superlatives to describe how tasty they are, but it's exactly like when you say, "The pictures don't do it justice; you just have to be there to believe it." when sharing your vacation photos. They are juicy, fragrant, and sweet as candy. As she packed my boxes, she made sure there was a fair mixture of ready-to-eat fruit and some that would ripen in 2-4 days. That was such a thoughtful gesture that made me feel respected. It should be noted that none of the fruit I purchased were organic. Not sure if they offer any, but that might be something that matters to you. Also, I did not see any restrooms but they could be available. The parking lot was small (maybe 4-6 cars), and there's no gift shop or attractions here: You're here for the fruit. Lastly, I must say that their prices are VERY fair. If I was a Fresno or Tulare County resident, I would be a regular customer because I couldn't imagine paying more for less quality fruit from the supermarkets. I'm not comfortable sharing their prices here in this review because it may be market-dependent (and they don't list them on their website), so contact them and don't be surprised if you buy more than what you planning to. I think they may also have a berry patch, but I haven't been for that. Mountain Brook Ranch is a great place to bring the family to enjoy some time outdoors and to pick fruit fresh from the tree. It is easy to spot from the road, and has a lovely farm stand right next to a gravel parking area. Depending on the season, the farm stand has jams and the seasonally fresh/ripe fruit ready for you to buy if you don't want to pick your own. They also have buckets and pruning shears to cut the fruit off the trees available for those who want to pick their own. Please note that usually only certain trees or rows are available to pick from, depending on which trees have ripe fruit and which trees they are saving for other things. Surrounded by beautiful rolling foothills, this is a great family activity, and a great place to take photos while you enjoy time outside. A buddy of mine had participated in the program for about 14 years. Crazy! I don't know the fine details about the adopt a tree program, but if you're interested, you totally should look into it or do it. The fruit here is just absolutely amazing. It's used in lots of popular restaurants in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Also, the head editor (Bill Addison) of LA Times food was asked what was his favorite fruit was and he referenced this farm and its stone fruit. Upon arrival an older gentleman stopped our car and explained to us all they had to offer. My son was extremely excited to find out they had baby goats, chickens and donkeys there. The farm is really big and everything is well spaced out if you're concerned about being around a lot of people. We checked out the animals first. The baby goats were so adorable. Then the chickens were in their own area and it was really cool to see their eggs too. After that we went to the barn area were they had vendors selling home made crafts and desserts. We got some yummy rice crispy treats that were really big for only 3 bucks. Outside of the barn they had little tractors set up for kids and a cute seating area to take your fall pumpkin patch pics. Beyond that area they had picnic tables and tons of other cute spots to take photos. We were informed you could pick a pumpkin from any of the areas they had pumpkins or actually go into the field to pick a pumpkin. I'd suggest wearing a good pair of shoes because it's a huge dirt area. My son went crazy and filled our cart with lots of little pumpkins. They are very reasonable priced too. We paid 22 dollars for 12 little pumpkins. Most places charge per pound but they actually have set prices. After picking pumpkins we went to get lunch from the food truck they had out there. First I had to stop and buy cheese from their farm. I got a Brie and some pomegranate jelly. It was a really great combination. The lady selling the cheese sells charcuterie boxes too. Not anything big but a snack size to have something while relaxing at the farm. We had a very fun filled day and appreciate Yelp for the pass. So if you're in the area definitely check out this farm. Oh yeah they're starting to have dinners there on certain nights too. It's Beautiful farm with lots to do.
