I was eager to find them at the Ferry Building Farmer's Market after trying their delicious fruit…read moreat a restaurant. Sadly, everything I brought home was bruised and deteriorated quickly because of the bruises. A woman at the stand offered to select the items and I trusted she would choose good ones. Tomatoes, yellow peaches and yellow nectarines. She told me that the peaches and nectarines needed a few days to ripen but the first I ate unripe because I could see it wouldn't last with the bruising, the others had huge dark soft spots by the time they were ripe. Tomatoes were ripe but both had big soft spots. Maybe something unusual happened - I will go back and try again (and select myself).

Recently just got back from another year of being part of the harvest of the adopt a tree program…read more This particular year marks the 20th year anniversary of the program. A buddy of mine had participated in the program for about 14 years. Crazy! I don't know the fine details about the adopt a tree program, but if you're interested, you totally should look into it or do it. The fruit here is just absolutely amazing. It's used in lots of popular restaurants in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Also, the head editor (Bill Addison) of LA Times food was asked what was his favorite fruit was and he referenced this farm and its stone fruit. I'm actually planning on going to a pie shop that uses fruit this Friday for a special event. and Los Angeles. I'm actually planning on going to a pie shop that uses their fruit this Friday for a special event. By now the routine is pretty simple and straightforward for me. There's a meet and greet in the morning with some instructions for some of the newer people. The you got to harvest your trees before it gets too hot outside. My friend has multiple trees hence me coming out to help every year for the last three years. Another fun experience, I'll be at exhausting. There was a fun light brunch in the middle of it and there was a beer tasting this time around with beers that use the fruit in their process.

I've never been more offended in my life. I was shopping at the Niles farmers market on Saturday…read moremorning August 16 when 6 peaches came to $15, I simply asked for a receipt so I can show my husband. The boy told me I could only have a receipt if I paid by phone (Zelle/Venmo,) not by cash then this lady (assuming his mother) started yelling at me and told me I was holding up the line.(there was one other person in line) then she yelled at me that this was California and everything was expensive and commented on my Louis Vuitton wallet. I'm glad she can spot a good fake designer wallet In a way I'm glad my granddaughter was with me so I could teach her in this moment not to be mean or rude to people just because they don't have money. I also apologize to the lady and told her it was my fault that I didn't realize I had chosen something that was going to weigh this much, but she just rolled her eyes at me and didn't care. In the end, I am glad that I asked for my money back. I bought six peaches and two apples for $10 from a few stands down. Is it because I am white with blonde hair that this lady was so MEAN and rude to me? Or was it because she thought I had a designer wallet? I felt sorry for her son. This was a teaching moment for him as well and he just sat there humble and quiet. I felt really bad for him. It is really sad that we have gotten to this point in America that we treat each other with so much hate, and unkindness. All I wanted was a receipt to show my husband how much I paid for the peaches! I was not trying to cause any trouble. Honestly, what did I do? The lady yelled at me that this is a farmers market, but I have gotten handwritten receipts off of a generic receipt pad before from places like this in the past. It's not like my request was from left field . It hasn't been a big deal in the past. I will never ever buy from this farm again and I tell everyone to AVOID THIS BUSINESS as well just for the embarrassment you put me through with my granddaughter. The one star is for the young man who stayed in control and was not confrontational or emotional or just plain MEAN. ‍
