Wow! Circle k ranch is this hidden gem off of Manning in Fresno California. They sell nuts and…read moreseeds inside the store for about 10-60$ depending on what you plan on ordering. Upon entering, there is a cool wind that flows from the top to keep the inside air conditioned for customers. The customer service is friendly and there are plenty of choices of seeds and various nuts: peanuts walnuts, almonds, pistachios etc. in addition to these nuts and sunflower seeds, there are dried and boxed fruit to order. These are all fresh from the farmlands close by. The trucks bring boxes of fruits and various nuts daily and are open daily. Although it is difficult to get into the place due to minor traffic and having a tiny sign on the side road, it is one of those gems to remember. The parking lot is covered by trees for some shade and there are workers making a lot of noise moving crates of supplies in and out of the factory and into the store. Pictures will be shown of what supplies are in depending on the season. There is no guarantee your favorite is in due to what is grown throughout the seasons. The boxer crate of fruits are the go to. I got myself some plums for 14$ many times before, but since I went here out of the season, they didn't have any in stock at the time. The service was great, the prices are generous and that air conditioning was the ticket to five stars! The boxes hold approximately 80-100 of whatever you get. They have plums, peaches, apricots, pears, apples and oranges. The prices vary but expect 14-15$ per box. The plums are slightly more expensive than the other fruits due to a lower supply of them. In very rare occasions, there are also persimmons which could be close to 20 dollars. Lastly, there are bathrooms inside and outside. The outside ones are the bushes. There was no WiFi from what I found and the information about opening and closing times are accurate where listed.

As crazy as it may sound, I took my family on a day trip from Los Angeles to get some farm-fresh…read morepeaches choosing not to visit any of the Southern California farms because I wanted to get to the REAL source of the MOST delicious fruit - FRESNO! I selected Friesen Farm because of their informative website and helpfulness over the phone. Coming from a long ways, I was unsure if they would have any peaches left so I was very glad to reserve an order by phone. When I arrived 4 hours later (cell signal was solid the entire way so you can't get lost), a modest crowd was there and the Friesen team was hard at work fulfilling their orders. I saw them pack boxes of nectarines, peaches, and plums by hand (COVID precautions prevented us customers from selecting our own). While waiting, I saw my order (3 bags) were ready for pick up, but the irresistible smell of their fruit compelled me to purchase more (I had to make the 250 mile drive worthwhile, right?). The associate (owner?) who was helping me assured me that it was no trouble to return all the fruit from my previous order and pack the boxes I wanted to take home. While packing my boxes, we engaged in some small talk and she convinced me that I must return late February to see the blossoms. By the look in her eye, and the excitement in her voice I could tell that it was a must-see spectacle so I hope she remembers me when I come back in 2021! But something makes me think I will be back before then to get more fruit here. Now the fruit is indescribably delicious! I could use all the superlatives to describe how tasty they are, but it's exactly like when you say, "The pictures don't do it justice; you just have to be there to believe it." when sharing your vacation photos. They are juicy, fragrant, and sweet as candy. As she packed my boxes, she made sure there was a fair mixture of ready-to-eat fruit and some that would ripen in 2-4 days. That was such a thoughtful gesture that made me feel respected. It should be noted that none of the fruit I purchased were organic. Not sure if they offer any, but that might be something that matters to you. Also, I did not see any restrooms but they could be available. The parking lot was small (maybe 4-6 cars), and there's no gift shop or attractions here: You're here for the fruit. Lastly, I must say that their prices are VERY fair. If I was a Fresno or Tulare County resident, I would be a regular customer because I couldn't imagine paying more for less quality fruit from the supermarkets. I'm not comfortable sharing their prices here in this review because it may be market-dependent (and they don't list them on their website), so contact them and don't be surprised if you buy more than what you planning to. We all gotta support our local farmers!

I finally had a chance this summer on a day off to take the 40 minute drive and check it out. I was not disappointed. This is a small but year-round farm stand right off the side of the road with gravel space for cars to park. It is not greatly protected from the elements--and it was a hot hot day. I'm glad to see they at least had a few fans for the employees. The owner regularly works her stand, and when I was there, she offered to cut some fresh herbs or flowers for me while I perused the wonderful assortment of fruits, veggies and local honey. I ended up with some of the sweetest green grapes I've ever tried, a few different honeys to try (avocado and orange blossom), some freshly roasted peanuts, cucumbers, and an assortment of stone fruit. Everything was delicious, but the grapes were my favorite. Check out Sweet Girl Farms on Social media, or check out their website. They are active in the community, help to support other community growers (they even have eggs and other offerings), and enjoy a worthwhile visit to what should soon obtain the title of local treasure. I may not be able to stop by every week, but I hope to be a several times a year regular. This place is wonderful!
