There are also picnic tables and corn hole games. However, during our visit, the selection was very sparse. There were oranges, 1/4 basket of tomatoes, 4 cucumbers, and a handful of avocados. There were also a few packages of dried fruits and nuts. The guy working there didn't speak English, but he was really nice and friendly. He gave us some oranges to try and they were sweet and delicious. The tomatoes we bought from there were delicious as well. It had that homegrown taste and was very flavorful.

Their stand is in the back lot area towards the center near the Ghandi statue. Currently, the citrus season is winding down (mandarins and tangerines) while yellow peaches just became available and other stone fruits will follow shortly. Apricots were available when I walked by yesterday. My go-to here are the kishu mandarins when in season but we are already past that season. They also sell both types of persimmons, fuyu (crunchy and crisp) and hachiya (soft after ripening). This stand is manned by multiple people, sometimes a gal, and sometimes a guy. The guy has been here recent weeks and they do accept credit cards for payment.

The August day we came toodling down a dusty road looking for them, they were busy at their packing shed filling humongous orders to ship off to SF and places beyond. This happens twice a week, on Sundays and Thursdays, something the Blossom Trail brochure did not exactly explain. Oblivious to their strict schedule, we found ourselves staring at a tightly closed, little farm store which is located right next to their home and a very unhappy dog that insisted we should not be there and should not get out of the car. Hey, I've watched Cesar Milan, Dog Whisperer. I got out of the car, stood firm, showed no fear, then wisely remembered I wasn't Cesar and slowly retreated to my open car door and hastily jumped in. Dog=1, Wendy=0. What that dog didn't know was, while Mr. B was too chicken to get out of the car, he was still unrelenting and hell bent on getting some great fruit. So he called their listed phone number. I have to say, Fran, wife, was most gracious and very accommodating. She even jumped into her car and drove us over to their packing shed where she introduced us to her hard working son, Brian, who dropped everything to help us. We left the dog in our dust. They were currently processing several delicious varieties: OHenry peaches, Snow King white peach, Bella Royale peacotum (an interesting peach apricot plum mix), Flavor Grenade plum, and the Elephant Heart Plum (my personal favorite, a most delicious turn-of-the-century plum developed by Luther Burbank). While still not quite ripe, they had delicious aroma that convinced us we were getting something special. We came away with about $20 worth of beautiful, unique fruit. Their products can be found at many Farmer's Markets in the SF Bay area. Make sure you look for the Blossom Bluff Orchards label. Or if you find yourself out in the exciting (jk) Fresno area and want to buy from the source, call first to make sure their little farm store is open.

The Schaad Family uses their land to grow, process, and sell their product. The farm store is off of Whitesbridge Road, also known as Hwy 180, on a dirt road, Modoc. Be careful where you park as there is lots of truck traffic in this area as the nut products are constantly being shipped. The store sells a wide variety of nuts, especially almonds, but also pistachios. They produce a special nut mix that makes a good salad topping. But luckily we were able to visit finally. When we entered, we were greeted by an employee behind the counter. As we browsed through the store, eventually another employee manned the cash register. This employee had told us that they currently have some specials going on, which included some of their yogurt covered flavored raisins $3, in addition to the dark chocolate covered raisins bag for $3 (funny enough, I already had that bag in my hand, planning on purchasing when she said that). I ended up purchasing: Dark chocolate covered raisins- As I have gotten older, I have grown to appreciate the flavor of dark chocolate (before I really only liked milk chocolate and semi- sweet chocolate). But I actually have not tried this yet but getting this at $3 (prior to tax) is a steal. Vanilla yogurt dipped covered raisins- This container was also only $3. My husband and I really liked the raisins and actually made a snack mix of this with added nuts and edamame that I brought with us on our road trip. The added sweetness from these yogurt dipped raisins was very nice. Strawberry yogurt dipped covered raisins- Also got this container for $3 and did the same thing with the vanilla yogurt dipped covered raisins and added it to another snack mix with nuts and edamame. I actually liked the strawberry yogurt dipped covered raisins a little more than the vanilla yogurt dipped ones. Mini vanilla yogurt dipped covered raisins, box of 10 individual bags- My husband thought this would be good to have some ready to grab yogurt dipped raisins to have on hand for our road trip. The taste just like the other vanilla yogurt dipped covered raisins but just in a smaller portion. ------------------------------- (Total= $13.61 after tax and current special) After I paid and was offered to have my items placed on a bag, I was asked by an employee if I wanted a poster map. I said sure. If you like all things raisins, then this is a nice little store to visit. They also sell nuts and dried fruit (apricots and figs for example). They also sell Sun-Maid shirts and other memorabilia. Customer service was friendly and I would come back the next time I pass by (as long as it is during their operating hours). Please note that there are no restrooms here but around the corner is the visitor center. However during our visit, the visitor center was closed. But you can see the world's largest box of raisins around the corner and also a large mural cut out of the famous Sun-Maid mascot.
