Well this was a big disapointment. First of all tokens, tokens for EVERYTHING. While the concept seems simple, it still wasn't proven to be beneficial as many people pawned off their unused tokens to everyone including our group, because we really didn't want anything else and there are absolutley NO REFUNDS on tokens. So $20 for 7 tokens, 3 gets you calamari, 3 gets you clam chowder, 1 gets your fries, soda etc. and 2 gets you margaritas/wine. It would have been all worth it IF the food was good. It wasn't, the clam chowder was really watered down, tasted like it came from a can and the calamari didn't taste fresh but extremely fishy. Not the standards I know, as we love the wharf and go to The Grotto all the time! We love their clam chowder! Crabby Jims also has great clam chowder and Albolennettis has amazing calamari where you can choose buffalo style or garlic. Anyways we asked what restaurant this came from and they couldn't say, and they said that it all came from the Wharf. Yeah right. We ended up walking down sampling clam chowder from our favs, and it was so delicious, not at ALL like the garbage from the festival. One thing that seemed interesting was the clam chowder ice cream, a little sweet a little salty and definatley something to try. I don't think it was worth 2 tokens because the scoop was so small. Anyhoo, we came with a party of 6 and we were all disapointed and agreed that anything going on at the plaza is bust.

There were VERY few items that were actually avocado or avocado based. The margaritas were good and there were a few different options, so that made up for it slightly. On a good note, however, the Avocado Lime Popsicle was, hands down, the very best Popsicle I've ever had in my entire life! So delicious!!! I wanted to buy her out! Someone get this woman and her business into the stores! The high school cheerleaders made amazing guacamole with fantastic chips... we went back for more a couple of times! Thick yummy chips and huge scoops of guac! Thank you!! The "hints" posted on Instagram (upcoming food to get excited about) were nowhere to be found. I searched out 2 items but they were not anywhere. Really a bummer. Lots of vendors and advertisers, which is typical. Fun picture taking spots. Great music and dancing all day long! Super high priced foods and drinks. And Mother Nature made 2019's festival a wonderfully warm and sunny day! I had hoped to make this a tradition, but it bumped down a notch or two when it didn't quite meet my expectations. I'd go again but wouldn't make it a necessity. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Morro Bay and it's festivities... this one just fell short of my expectations. I'll update my review should I attend again. Still a great day, don't get me wrong... just fell short. CHEERS!!!

Entered the sombrero contest (wore a huge Piñata on my head for hours) didn't win but it was all good fun. Had many good beverages! It's not a huge event but big enough to have a great day and the ticket price to get in is only $5 - listening to good music from the large stage, and yes we sure did dance our butts off - shout out to the Jammies they had that crowd rocking. Ii am such a fan I already bought my tickets to this year's event. Go at least once it's a fun fun day! Some lines but better than prior years! Oh and the addition of seating was a huge plus. Loved the white couch things. It falls on my birthday this year, so it's going to be my party!!

There's really only the main street that has food with strawberries in it like the strawberry tacos, strawberry tamales, strawberry pizza, etc. The rest of the streets are just full of assorted vendors and other food trucks. I was expecting stands with strawberry jams, jellies, candy, I mean the possibilities are limitless. I tried the big 3, strawberry tacos, strawberry tamales, and strawberry pizza. The taco line was the longest one at the entire festival and they were mediocre. The tortilla is just colored pink and I could barely taste the strawberry in the salsa and the strawberry bits on top also didnt add any strawberry flavor so it was basically just a sub par street taco. You get 4 per order but really not worth the $20. The strawberry tamale was the star and the only thing I would ever consider going back for. It was piping hot with whipped cream and fresh strawberry on top. There's no filling but it's still packed with strawberry flavor and I went back to get another before leaving. The strawberry pizza was good, fresh made so there may be a bit of a wait. I just wish there was more strawberry pieces and jam on top because it looked pretty much like a slice of cheese pizza with a sprinkle of strawberry. Parking was $10 in the city plaza structure, I recommend going early to get a spot as it was pretty full when we left. Overall I wouldn't go back again but good to experience the one time.

This free and family friendly festival has been going on for the past 25 years and is one of the cities most popular events. They have a food court area with some amazing eats, a nice wine and beer garden for those looking to kick it up a notch, there are plenty of vendors, live entertainment, a quilt show in the Community Center and last but not least they have an amazing Custom & Classic Car Show. Not only that but they have plenty of rides for the children, pony rides, a petting zoo and the Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation Center (W.E.R.C.) which brings live birds, snakes and other reptiles to educate people about wildlife. I have been coming to this festival every year for the past 4-5 years or so and I really enjoy it, there are certain vendors here that I like and I'm only able to find them here such as Mansmith's BBQ, Hillbilly Tea and Scampi Shack just to name a few. I love everything that the festival has to offer, there are some really great vendors here, great food and I absolutely love the car show. The car show is not a little rinky dink one either, it takes up a large portion of the street down by the Community Center and I just love to see all the old timers showing off their cars, comparing and reminiscing about when they bought the cars. This is definitely a must if you live in the SJ, Morgan Hill or Gilroy area because it really is a great festival. This is by far my favorite festival here and I will keep coming every year. It's best to come early morning because by 11-12 it's starting to get crowded and it's usually really hot by that time.

We arrived early and wow there was surely a line to meet us. It was pretty smooth entering when you arrive when the event starts. Now let's taco bout how awesome this event was!? We opted to get the souvenir glass with the one margarita drink purchase. We walked up to the margarita stands trying to see the options. One of the bartenders came up to us and asked, do you want to try the best margarita you'll ever had!? I mean who could say no to that, we were like game on! I was a bit skeptical at first because that's a tall order to serve. Once I took my first sip, my eyes lit up and I immediately took in all the flavor. I have to say, that was the best margarita I've ever tasted! It was a perfect combination of sweetness, watermelon flavor, salt, and spicy mix. Big shout out to Red and Aria for fixing a mean delicious drink! I set out to find the best al pastor tacos and I sure found many. So many choices of wonderfully authentic Mexican food. But, it's all about the tacos! There were carne asada fries, al pastor galore, lobster tacos, and so much more! The event got more and more busy as the day went on so we appreciated coming when they opened. We got to go home with full happy bellies, souvenir t-shirts, and souvenir glasses. We'll definitely be back for years to come! Cheers to tacos and tequila!

The Morro Bay Kite Festival is the first real festival I've been to in a long, long time! Parking is free, entry is free. Kites fly high, and you are welcome (and encouraged) to bring your own and set it into the breezy skies. Professionals put on demo shows - a kind of kite ice-capades, where routines are performed to music that is piped over the beach on an impressively loud sound system. I had no idea there was a kite-flying "scene", but it is alive and well. Coffee, kettle corn, and hot dogs are for sale, all less than $5. The festival runs 2 days on the last weekend of April, and the weather this year was sunny and (fortunately) breezy. Kids were having a blast, and adults were relaxed, in that way that you are when your wallet isn't being raped and everyone is having a beautiful day. Put this on your calendar for next year!
