This was my 5th military move, and it was by far the worst. I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews before using this company. From the start, I had to chase them down to schedule anything, as they never reached out. I made several calls asking for updates, but was met with either no response or very vague ones. When my delivery date was approaching, they finally admitted they didn't know where my items were. I spent five hours tracking everything down myself, only for them to try and gaslight me about the situation. It wasn't until I had the companies actuall holding my items send emails to Cartwright they finally acknowledged my things were located. As if that wasn't frustrating enough, I didn't even receive a call informing me the transport across the country would be delayed by another week -- already two weeks past the required delivery date. To top it off, they denied my claim for a broken flower pot, which their movers had dropped, because it was discarded after being damaged. Am I really supposed to pack up a broken, potentially hazardous item? Lastly, they're saying a much smaller less expensive desk is "comparable" to the one they broke. All they do is steal military members belonging. They stole my wife's jewelry that was meant for my new born. They also stole 20+ pairs of Jordan's/nikes from me. The boxes I received weren't the ones I saw when they were packing up my things from Germany. They need to lose their license. read more

I am openly posting my contract # - BGAC0594480 so the owners can verify the legitimacy of my timeline. We finally closed the last of three claims totally almost $40k in damages the subcontractor hired (AA American Movers - See review here https://goo.gl/maps/9qGGJQm7dy1t5fkL7 ) so I am finally able to post this. Cartwright (CWT) is the worst TSP My wife and I have experience in 16.5 years of military service. Over the course of my career, we have moved 12 times and this move is the stuff horror stories are made out of, as you can see when you read my review of their subcontractor who cause all of the damages. This review will focus on the claims process which was nearly as traumatic as the actual move process. Our Claims Rep, Maria was the most difficult, the slowest rep that I could have possibly worked with, and she was supposedly the Claims supervisor, but she was barely competent at her job. Due to the abhorrent packing and care that the pack/load crew did we were forced to file 5x total claims (1x inconvenience claim because the subcontractor busted the load date requiring an extras days lease, 2x nights in a hotel and additional Uhaul fees, 1x real property claim due to extensive damage caused to the 115 original oak hardwood floors to the home, and 3x separate property damage claims due to almost every box having some form of damage that took 5x months just for us to unpack and sort through totaling almost $40,000 in claimed damage. At every step of the process Maria drug her feet causing extensive delays and consistently busting the required timelines per the DOD MCO claims process. We were required to float the extra lease cost, hotel, and Uhaul overage, as well as the full repair cost charged by the Ft. Hamilton housing office for more than a month while she refused to honor the claim that both myself and the Ft. Hamilton Quality Assurance inspector were told would be honored by multiple CWT movement supervisors. If it were not for the QA inspector, we would not have been paid. Once Maria admitted that the CWT subcontractor was liable for the full amount of the Real Property and inconvenience claims it then took CWT over 3x additional weeks, totaling more than 6x weeks that we had to float more than $1.5K in costs. This was just the tip if the iceburg. Due to the extensive damage it took my wife and I more than 300 hours to catalog and document it all (none of this time were we reimbursed for, which at our Salary rate would be over $10k additional) over 3x separate damage claims spanning 5 months. More than 120 items in total were claimed and we settled for over $18k in admitted damages on over 80 items, with the rest now elevated to the MCO for further adjudication. At every step Maria would wait until the last possible minute to acknowledge receipt of a claim, or information provided throughout our communications process. At multiple phases I had to get both the QA inspector and the Belvoir JPPSO office involved to push the process because Maria would stop communicating with me, at times for over two weeks at a time. Due to Maria's consistent delays, she drug this process out to 6 full months to reach resolution (which we still have not completely reached due to the elevation of 40+ items to the Army MCO) Additionally Transpo was not able to process my PPM (DITY) move for two months because CWT manipulated the weight ticket, misappropriated the weight of my move and would not respond with straightforward information to JPPSO, resulting in the Belviour JPPSO cubing my HHG to determine the weight as best as possible to allow the PPM payment to be processed. I also learned that CWT shorted me about half of me and my wife's PRO-Gear because the subcontractor did not account for it. Lastly, one day after we received the final payment, I receive an email stating "Your Transportation Service Provider (TSP) has reweighed your shipment...The Defense Property System (DPS) has detected the possibility you may have exceeded your authorized Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) weight allowance." Avoid at all cost. Having my stuff shipped in from Japan. Was originally told May 31st for at the latest shipping date. Now when i call, all they tell me its sitting at a port waiting for customs and that it's been there for over a week. When i ask if they have an estimate of when it'll be delivered they tell me June 26th. Overall I've called them 4-5 times and only one person was able to actually give me good information. I'll make an edit once i actually get my stuff to say if everything makes it in one piece, as well as, a review on the claim process if something is expensive. This company is a scam. Triple Check the inventory sheet. They would annotate deficiencies on items that they know are likely to be damaged in transit, deficiencies that does not even exist. For example: They did not explain the inventory sheet to me. I did not know what all the codes next to my big items (couch, coffee table...) meant. They annotated that the couch was stained and spoiled which was a false claim. This company destroyed my couch, my coffee table, my grill and other items and made my PCS move a nightmare. Crappiest moving coordinators ever. The acual movers they hired showed up two days early and when we tried communicating that we weren't ready for pack out, they claimed they didn't speak English. They sent our belongings to Orlando instead of Oregon, causing a 6 week delay. They then shorted us on our inconvenience claim because we didn't buy new stuff. Upon delivery we found over $10,000 worth of broken or missing items. They took roughly 150 days to make an offer, (contract gives them 60) and only paid out $3300. Sadly, because my husband is active duty, we cannot sue. They should be ashamed of themselves for hiring inept companies. For low balling people when their practices are clearly at fault. And for wasting tax payer dollars by not doing their job adequately. read more

We made an International move earlier this year. As stressful as moving can be, add to that moving Internationally to a Middle Eastern Country and you have a majorly stressful event. We chose to use Cartwright International based on a friends recommendation of his most recent relocation and positive dealings with this company. I personally dealt with Forrest Schaefer (fcschaefer@cartwrighttrans.com) for the duration of the process. He was professional, knowledgeable, courteous and very accessible throughout the long process of packing, loading, shipping and then processing things as they arrived in the Middle East. Their choice in sub-contractors was also very top notch. Mr. Schaefer maintained his position as liaison long after his company had been paid, which is much more than I can say with other dealings we have had with other shipment Companies. We shipped our entire household and one vehicle with Cartwright. Their fees were quoted accurately and their were no additional hidden fees. Everything was quoted professionally and fully disclosed. We were given a better price with another vehicle shipping company, Schumacher Cargo Logistics, Inc. and used them. This turned out be a huge mistake. Upon arrival through an outsourced company, we were charged excessive fees and then held our vehicle until we paid their excessive fees in full. The original shipping company refused to respond. (See other review for Schumacher Cargo Logistics, Inc) This made for Cartwright's original price to be far better and honest from the beginning. Our mistake and lesson learned. Unfortunately a pretty dishonest company. A week before my households goods were to arrive, I was told that they would not arrive by the required delivery date and that I would be issued an "inconvenience claim" since I had been sleeping on the floor and unable to make meals. Thus, I went out and purchased toilet paper, paper plates/silverware, etc. According to the company, they contacted me at 6am the morning of the required delivery date to alert me that my things had arrived, but because I was in orientation for my new job and did not call them back in the "2 hour window", they would not reimburse me for the "inconvenience claim." The most frustrating part, is when I called back 4 hours later, they did not have delivery dates until 4-5 days out. Even if I had received the message at 6am, I doubt they could have delivered my goods that day anyway! Furthermore, I had been working w/ Jamie Bartlett from the claims department for some damaged items, and after emailing her my frustrating situation w/ the inconvenience claim, she stopped responding to my emails. Extremely unprofessional and poor customer service. A very disappointing experience...I would never recommend this company to my family or friends. read more

Not only were they unhelpful on the phone, were way behind schedule on delivery, but once our stuff finally arrived, it wasn't ours! The crates had been mislabeled and contained another family's belongings. After getting in touch with my move coordinator, I was told a supervisor would call back in 15 minutes. Did not hear from them again until 6 days later! Luckily the small local company who will be unpacking us had been getting tidbits of information and kept us up to speed. Awful company and worse customer service. We are still awaiting our household goods. From the other reviews it looks like that will be another nightmare to go through with this company. We got tired of sleeping and sitting on the floor, so we finally bought a couch and bed. According to their claims specialist on an inconvenience fee they only reimburse you for rented items. It will be over two months that we waited for our stuff to be delivered, if our stuff is actually delivered when it supposed to be. It is hard to get your children to adjust to moving across the country, but not having any of your personal items makes it impossible. With all these reviews I'm not sure how this company is still up and running. It must just be military contract so they can continue to screw over service members and their family. read more

This company doesn't deserve a government contract ! They failed to communicate with me that my shipment would be delayed . When I called them they couldn't give me a location on my shipment I was told it was stuck in San Diego port then I was told it was in Jacksonville. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I was suppose to receive my shipment 2/09/21 . They fail to call and follow up . They send vague emails because they to lazy to pick up the phone and call back! This has been the worst experience of my life ! I'm forced to come out of pocket because of this delay ! I won't get my shipment until 3/1/21 great thanks a lot ! read more

If I could give this "company" negative one million stars, I would. They have been completely USELESS through our entire move. The military chose Cartwright as our transportation service provider, they use fake names FYI, they are just BROKERS so they hand over your shipment to the plain ol joes who can't find jobs anywhere else. They picked through our belongings and stole what they had liked, treated our things like they were paper, crushed/smashed/tossed/RUINED alot of our furniture and personal items.. I am so furious. A company of liars and thieves that gleefully hides behind shipping companies essentially zero legal accountability to destroy families lives, the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They lost literally everything I have ever owned, much of which is completely irreplaceable and holding sentimental value even with the absolute pittance they would give in a claim, they were nothing but rude to my wife on the phone, seemed to have ABSOLUTELY no interest in helping us find our stuff or even telling us a coherent story of what happened and just tried to strongarm us into making a claim. Their story of what happened doesn't add up AT ALL, they claim they never received our package from the port but upon us receiving confirmation it arrived at the port, they sent us an e-mail saying that our delivery had shipped. Normally, you would think that would mean they received our delivery. You would also normally think that if our shipment was lost at the port, then the company would instead of telling us they had shipped our stuff, would contact us and tell us the port is claiming not to have or know where our stuff is. Then maybe we could have contacted the port and tried to figure out what happened, but instead this company either is lying and did receive our shipment, or they lied that our stuff had shipped for MONTHS before they finally said they did not have it. Then they still sent us an e-mail having the gall to tell us our shipment had been delivered, and when we contacted them about it said that they "had to" put it in delivered status for us to make a claim, when we did not want to make a claim, we wanted them to explain what happened and/or keep looking, something they failed to coherently do or show any evidence of doing. I would love to hear an explanation of why Cartwright wants to accept full responsibility for the claim for our shipment if they are also claiming when we call them that they are actually not responsible for losing our shipment, and that it was the port authority. Do not trust them with your stuff under any circumstances. read more

The military really does pick the lowest bidder. Cartwright Is complete trash. I've dealt with them on more then one occasion and have had a problem everytime. Not only will your goods be weeks late but you will also wait 2 hours minimum to talk to someone about your move. I'm sure if they didn't have the militarys moving contract they would not exist. We are a military family and were assigned to Cartwright Moving Company, who pawned us off to a local VA company called All in One Moving in Woodbridge,VA to do our move from VA to FL. So far, it has been horrible and very unprofessional. It started with the lack of communication. No one called to set up a Pre-Move house inspection, which is typical and should always be done, to ensure that the correct amount of packing materials and any special boxes, crates, etc, be prepared for the day of the pack out. I had to call my self, three days before the pack out date, when no one had yet to contact us. I was told that they would come out the next day to do the inspection. The next day happened to be July 4th. Of course they were never planning to come out. They said they would have someone call me back and this never happened. We called again and ended up doing the pre- move over the phone. On the day of the pack out, they came unprepared, with not enough packing materials. They didn't have the right size truck or crates to put our HHG into. Our things were somehow taken away and put into some kind of a storage place, but we thought we had a door to door move. It sat in a storage place for almost two weeks before it could get to us in FL. I'm not clear on why this happened, when we had our new house ready in FL. When I called, and could finally get a hold of some one, I was told that the scale was broken to weigh the truck, or that they were waiting on transportation to come pick it up. When it finally did arrive in FL, it was put into another storage place. We are still waiting for our belongings to be delivered. It is now 8/8 and our things were packed on 7/5. We were given a no later delivery date of 7/28. We were told that we would have our things on 8/15. After a lot of calling and complaining, we have a new delivery date of 8/9. We will see if this happens. Horrible experience with Cartwright. I will be following up with the military to complain about this company. I am very nervous to see the state of our things upon delivery. I will give an updated review when I see our things. I do not recommend this company at all! read more

They don't give a damn about the fact they are weeks (that's more than one week for any Cartwright employees reading this) past the RDD and our goods are still in storage at the POINT OF ORIGIN (place where we started, again for Cartwright employees) waiting to be transported! Customer service is rude, argumentative and refuses to accept any sort of responsibility for what has easily turned into the worst move of our career! It also seems several of their employees get online and write better reviews on these sites to raise their score. I am surprised they can manage tie their shoe laces, much less get online and write BS reviews. Cartwright sucks and yet they keep getting contracts to F- over military families. read more

Like a previous reviewer, I had a government move with Cartwright as the contracted service provider and had a really frustrating experience. Our shipment had been incorrectly routed for over a month and they didn't even realize it until after some prompting for its status. Further delays, infestation with flies, a missing computer, and damaged furniture followed, and after some pushing found out that the shipment hadn't been handled and sealed properly at origin. Cartwright subcontracted various parts of the process but did not monitor or track where it was, and the subcontractors wouldn't talk to me directly. After months of this and trying to locate my lost computer, they made sure to make that unpleasant as well. Cartwright's process has too many moving parts with no sense of responsibility or accountability. I recommend you stay well clear of this company. read more

They were 17 days late and when they busted the RDD the TSP coordinator stopped repsonding to emails, texts, calls etc. I believe they KNEW they couldn't meet the RDD but lied about it to get the gift contract anyway. Wish I could give half a star or just 0. We had our military move handled by Cox Moving which is owned by Cartwright Companies. Everything seemed fine until it wasn't. The company they had contracted (McConnell Brothers, Columbus MS) did not come to estimate the size of our pack beforehand. They rescheduled our pack several times until we had to postpone our actual move date. They did not have enough supplies to handle the entire pack. We dealt with Angela Rotert and she was knowledgeable and available until problems came up. We were coming up to our Required Delivery Date (RDD) at our destination and she was suddenly tough to reach and didn't reply to emails until I wrote a second time or called again. She had apparently lost track of our shipment and did not pay attention to the fact that it never moved from our previous station. We were 2 weeks in an empty house with nothing and when we sent in an inconvenience claim to get under $300 in meals reimbursed for not being able to prepare meals a Donald Jewett said that we would only be given $11. It's incredibly insulting. These people did the absolute least amount of work possible and offer back nothing but insult. read more

This company was assigned through a military contract to move us from the UK to SK. The movers took 4 days to move 6900 lbs of goods. They arrived stinking hungover- to the point where one worker spent an entire morning laying in the can of the truck because he was so ill. When I unpacked my goods, I found that they packed a few things at the bottom, then dumped the rest and put packing paper on top. They put glass frames at the bottom of one box with books on top- thrown in willy nilly. They broke almost every single high-value item that I owned. I tried countless times to file claims only to have the claims disappear and had to start over. This process has taken me almost 2 years. When I was finally able to make a claim on a fraction of the goods broken or damaged, Mr. Derek Jamison only offered a paltry amount of $1200 out of almost $10,000 worth of damages. He said I did not provide an "after delivery" claim. I had the paperwork and submitted it. He said that Cartwright was no longer responding to my claim. I am taking this to the legal office. This company should NEVER have gotten the contract for business. I am so frustrated. This process has taken up hours and hours of my time and I have broken antiques that will never be replaced as well as damaged goods that had to be thrown away. This is the worst company and I would never recommend them! Ever. I wouldn't even given them a 1 star if it were possible. read more

First off, this was a military move so a bunch of companies were involved but Cartwright was the company who the government contracted to take care of my move. I can blame this on the government but it's really Cartwright's fault for being unprofessional. Since April 2012 the US government has had a lawsuit out on Covan World-Wide Moving Inc. and it's agent Coleman American Moving Services and Cartwright still does business with them. Know why the government has a lawsuit out? Because Covan and Coleman falsify documents and shipment weights. Know what else they do? Send packers who are unprofessional, who know the rules and break them anyway, who don't do correct inventory, who fraud the government by quoting them 3 days and rushing everything in 2 hours - so they over book - don't bring enough crates for the amount of stuff you have, and who are unconcerned with the 'junk' they are being paid to look after and move. Then these companies will make you sign paperwork, which at the time is not truthful ('sign here for all of the seals on the 8 crates even though we only have 3 crates and you need 8 crates, but don't worry we'll do it at the warehouse'), and it makes it harder for you to claim anything after they've destroyed, stolen, or misplaced your things. I lost a dining room table that my husband and I made together (priceless), all of my lamps, a gun safe, several pieces of original artwork were destroyed (again, priceless), and about $3000 worth of tools. Good job Cartwright allowing these companies to move service members! Also, Cartwright's employees are brokers. Bottom line. They are so disorganized, not to mention impolite, and because they contract out to Covan and Coleman who also contract out it hard to keep track of where and when your stuff is going. They won't tell you any information about your shipment even if you have your GBL, because its a 'security risk' and if they do happen to tell you when/where your stuff is going it's going to be wrong information BECAUSE THEY ARE BROKERS. This was my first and last PCS move. Cartwright, Covan, and Coleman can kiss my ass. I will pay out of pocket to move across the country next time so I don't have to deal with this. I never write reviews. But, some members of this company are horrible. I did not choice this company... the Army told me this lowest bidder would move my household goods and eventually destroy pretty much everything of value. If, you are military request another company or move yourself. They destroyed my entire master bedroom set, 55" TV, solid oak kitchen table, two bookcases, two lamps, and a brand new sectional, etc. I had to throw away many items due to mildew and mold. Going through the military claims process I was eventually transferred to Don Carroll of Cartwright. I talked to him for a few minutes before he accused me of breaking my own belonging, and that I was at fault. I asked to speak to his supervisor and was told that he does not have a supervisor. So, i guess Don Carroll is the CEO of Cartwright. I have never felt so disrespected and talked down by someone that is making money off of me.I have already wasted over 14 hours going through the military claims process and so far nothing.... Looks like Cartwright can destroy over $12,000 of my belongings and still get paid by the government. If anyone gets bored, please join me in writing the Better Business Bureau, your Congressmen and women, Senators, military transportation, etc about this company and/or why the military gets serviced by a company with 2.3 stars. This was a government move from Kentucky to Thailand. Safeway movers (Lexington KY) contracted by Cartwright International, packed for seven days (from 1/5/16 to 1/13/16). I will review Cartwright under their name. Unaccompanied Air Baggage: Three boxes were delivered. We had not seen those same boxes during pack out. Upon inspection, the boxes had our about 20% of our UAB. The rest was gone! What was there had been repacked. All my wife's dishes and kitchen items were shipped in UAB. We had two forks, two spoons, two knives, and two plates wrapped in our towels. The rest was missing. This is from a full kitchen. I spoke with Doug Zvacek, our Cartwright coordinator, asking if I should claim this or wait on the remaining shipment. He said we needed our items so submit a claim right away. We submitted the claim with Jamie Bartlett from Cartwright. She went through the claim and after much back and forth for many weeks, she said "I think we will wait and see if the missing items are in the remaining shipment." The missing items were not in the follow on shipment. Ms. Bartlett disputed every item we claimed based on items she found on the Internet. Most of the items we claimed were based on prices from Walmart.com, not extravagantly priced and they provide shipping overseas. We thought this was fair. Ms. Bartlett found non-comparable items (mostly cheap junk) from websites. Many of those sites would not ship to government addresses, free or for pay. Her goal was to reduce the claim as much as possible and she did not care if the items were replaced or not. She did not even add shipping costs from sites that did provide shipping. Finally, Doug said only work with him even though claims were not his position. I enjoyed dealing with him. He is very professional, however Bartlett is an incompetent meat-head and I will never work with her again. Another example, I shipped a motorcycle. The packers in Kentucky took the key to "move it." The key was not delivered in Thailand. What did she do? Nothing, of course, and she even delayed me as she did with the other shipment. She said that she would find a key service in Thailand. Several weeks went by and nothing. Then she offered $100 for the key replacement "as claimed." I never claimed anything since she said she would contact someone. She is a person you never want to deal with again for the rest of your natural lifetime! read more
