Stopped by for coffee w a friend on a Sunday morning. Pretty standard pricing for coffee ($7 for a whole milk latte). Plenty of foam, very tasty. Saw they also offer pastries and paninis, although did not try any. PLENTY of seating, both tables/chairs, and a few couches spread throughout - in the general coffee bar area, to the side in the walkway, as well as behind the coffee bar. Large water dispenser if you are feeling dehydrated. Wifi is on a board behind the counter. A couple floor outlets in the front area, with more outlets in the area in the back if you need a charge. Stayed after and worked for 6+ hrs, up until they closed at 6pm. Single bathroom in the back - not the cleanest throughout the day, but got the job done. Left smelling like delicious coffee. Great, central location with plenty of parking to work for the day. read more

I was a regular at cartel coffee. I went in today and ordered the seasonal CCL (I think was the name). Almost $9 coffee. Went outside to work and while on the phone with my client, accidentally spilled my entire coffee. Only had one sip of it. I was so bummed, went up to let them know I spilled on accident, and to see if I can get another. She went to the terminal and rang me in another $9, while seeing my entire coffee was on the floor. It definitely rubbed me the wrong way, and I told her nevermind... I left and got another drink at Sip Coffee. I wasn't going to spend $18 on coffee there. Even with it being my fault, in customer service, that's not the right thing to do at all. Not in this economy! I also posted about my disappointment on my IG story and they saw my story and had an opportunity to make things right but they still chose not to! There are so many other wonderful coffee shops in Old Town who absolutely would never do this. Go to Brightside Cafe, Berdena's or Fourtillfour instead. Wow! Great coffee! First time in and this place was busy! The guy taking our order was patient and friendly. I ordered an oatmilk latte which was deliciously smooth! My daughter had a coconut almond crème drink which was on the sweet side but also quite tasty. read more

Cartel is known for the best coffee in Scottsdale. We've been here before and back again this time. An enthusiastic customer behind us recommended the CCL which is coconut caramel latte and indeed it was very good. We also had the autumn matcha latte which is another popular drink here. There are some chessboard and games on the tables in the immediate seating area. More tables in the back and hallway area gives a cozy vibe. We certainly enjoyed our visit. Went in on a slow Sunday morning to grab coffee to go and unfortunately the service was very poor. Aside from the very nice man helping take our order, the barista was very rude. We witnessed her be disrespectful to an older couple who asked for a to-go cup, which granted paying over $8 for coffee, if you want a cup to put your coffee in, you should be allowed ! We ordered cold brew and an oat milk vanilla latte, and again was met with rude replies when asking for clarification if our drinks were the ones the barista was calling out. Service is exceptionally slow. I came here two days in a row while visiting Scottsdale. First day I ordered a cappuccino and an everything cream cheese danish. The danish was cold and nothing too special. The wait for the cappuccino was long and it was pretty strong. The next day I went back in the morning to get a breakfast burrito which they don't make on premise. It's provided by another vendor and they reheat it on the grill. Stopped by aound 9am on a Wednesday. The place was not too busy. I ordered a cappuccino, sat against the wall, and sipped my drink. It was strong but not bitter. I added two packets of real cane sugar and this was all I needed to get me going. The barista even added a flower design, It's one of the best coffees I have had. Service was prompt and friendly. The place is small, but there are electric outlets for computers and cell phones. There is even a narrow outside seating area. read more

Wow! I've lived near Old Town Scottsdale for almost 10 yrs and just TODAY found this gem! Great vegan pastries options...chocolate donuts, cherry/pistachio pop-tarts, lemon blueberry muffins, banana bread and amazing coffee and tea lattes! And the atmosphere is so hip and cozy! I love cartel. Their ingredients are so good. It is more of an industrial local coffeehouse vibe the Tempe old town and downtown location are all unique and their own ways. There is also one in the airport. The staff is always friendly. They have great pastries, and drinks. read more

First off, I ordered the iced mocha and it was really good. It might be one of the best I've had. But it was also one of the priciest. It was about $7.30 for a 16 oz. Staff was nice and I got my drink quickly despite a pretty big rush. There's street parking but if that gets full, there's also a parking garage about a two minute walk away. I went on a Sunday at noon and it was really busy. There was an event nearby so that might've been why. It was also very loud inside. Definitely not the best place to get work done. There were also not a lot of outlets, which is a shame since there's so much seating. Overall, it was a solid experience. But I might opt to go to a different location in the future just based on my preferences. read more

The barista I spoke with had a passion for coffee and was expertly educated in the growing, selection, roasting, grinding and preparation of coffee. Was hoping to preorder for pick up however, it kept on refusing to add my order if I went through yelp to their website to order. I ended up after 3 tries unsuccessfully adding my orders to the cart, googled the place directly sent the online ordering page finally worked. In the area from San Diego and love to try new coffee spots. Unfortunately this one disappointed. The shop itself was hot inside and uncomfortable to sit in. I ordered a small iced vanilla latte with oat milk, the oat milk they use is not a good one for lattes as it is too "oaty" and I could not taste the coffee at all.
