Carson Hot Springs is still a relaxing and beautiful place to unwind. The mineral baths are soothing, and the overall atmosphere is peaceful -- perfect for a reset. That said, the bath and shower areas could definitely be bigger. During busy times it gets pretty crowded, which takes away from the relaxation a bit. Also, prices have noticeably gone up compared to before. Overall, it's still a great spot to visit, especially if you go during off-peak hours. When my husband I first started going to the Carson Hot Springs there was no hourly limit... stay as long as you like!! To be truthful I miss the good old days. Now it's 2 hour stay. If you want to stay longer you have to pay another entry fee for an additional 2 hours. My husband and I checked in. We bought a 10 visit pass awhile back so it was nice it still had visits on it. Really that's the way to go! Pay for a pass for 5 years. Because the price is always going up!!! I really love the remodel. They have two mineral pools and two jacuzzi pools with jets outside! They are all community pools. They have three hammer heads to enjoy. There is a 5 min limit. I wish people would obey the signs! No jumping in. No splashing and no loud talking! They have about 10 private pools if you're interested for a slightly higher fee and no noise. They have lounge chairs and regular chairs to use while enjoying the community pools. There is a men and women's locker room. The ladies room has 3 private shower stalls. Two stand up hair dryers. About 4 private bathroom stalls. A couple benches to use while getting dressed. It's best to bring your own towel, although they do have towel service, cold drinks. Snacks & noodles for sale too! You can bring your own noodle or blow up device. No throwing balls. No coolers or alcohol allowed. They do let you bring your own food and thermal water bottles in. The staff are really good, you must check in at the front desk!!! sometime there is a line to get in! I recommend going early!! The afternoon lines can get real long and you have to wait for others to leave!! It's a great place to enjoy a moment of relaxation. I really enjoy these hot springs, the pools are hot enough to relax in for a couple of hours. On the night I went with some friends, the pools were between 101-103 degrees. It was the perfect temp to be able to relax for awhile without overheating. On a cool evening it feels so good to soak in the geothermal mineral water under the stars. There are many options for outdoor pools, the temp is displayed on a monitor in the office. A dry sauna is available with the outdoor pool price. Private indoor pools are available as well, they tend to run a little warmer. Those also get you access to the outdoor pools. After you get out of the pool you can warm up by the firepit and complete your relaxing evening. The neighborhood is very quiet and you will enjoy your time here! read more

The gossipy (almost nasty) ladies that stayed under the "spout" or whatever they called it were super off putting but there is another pool that they seemed to stay away from. Most everyone was respectful and the staff was nice. We enjoy visiting here. We bring bottled water to keep hydrated. They have water fountains around. You can also visit the general pool area. We like the private rooms so that we can relax without being bothered. There is a time limit and it's a very simple setup with a bench to sit up top and walk down the stairs into the 100 degree plus water. It's very relaxing. Restrooms and private showers are available. They were having people hang out outside, thankfully it wasn't too hot just yet. Prices were reasonable, dressing room with shower, and several soaking options. I came here with my guy after a nearby hike. I knew I wanted a private room and luckily we arrived at the right time because we only waited 20 minutes or so for a room. Checking in and paying was a bit confusing even with all of the signage. We were given very minimal instructions on what to do and where to go. We checked out our room and then took showers. The shower/bathroom area was gross. Trash and other personal items like hairbands and bandaids on the floor. We stayed in our room for about an hour after which it was a bit overwhelming due to the heat of the water. We took a short nap on the bench and then headed out. I absolutely loved the time that I spent here. For my first time I decided to try out the outdoor pools and patio areas. It was very nice, clean, spacious, and not very crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. I did not visit the main pool outside of the front desk window, but all of the other three pools out there were perfectly temperatured and relaxing. The staff could have been nicer and more professional though. And the bathroom could use some rethinking when it comes to changing out of swim attire. I changed in one of the private stalls, but there was no drain for the water to go. Have been going to Carson for years, unfortunately after today no more. I planned a trip to nevada for my birthday in december. I was extremely excited to share the experience with my partner - due to us working high demand jobs - we really needed the relaxation & the hammer. Also it was my birthday! After we paid and checked in - i noticed how unkept the facility seemed - but chalked it up to them being busy and kids welcomed. Ten-15 minutes in our private room - the power went out. No staff came to the rooms to tell us anything - and so after a while I went out in the dark to the front. I asked if we could go outside - they said the hammer was still working - it wasnt, and the pools were cold. Needless to say we asked for out money back. We were told we couldnt get a refund because the power was out but to leave out names and phone numbers and card info and we would be refunded in the next few days. We were never refunded. I reached out 3 times by phone last week and did not receive great nor apologetic customer service, and each time the manager seemed to be MIA. Again, left my number and information - still was never called nor refunded. So, I sent an email - clearly outlining all of this. I got a response that was clear that who ever was emailing didn't actually read. When I responded: " This is insane, are you not reading or comprehending anything? we didnt get a receipt due to power outage. What is the name of the manager? I got this in response: "Keith Shellhamer 1:09PM (1 hour ago) to me I am the owner and I'm trying to figure what transaction is yours. If you can provide some detail that would help. If you were charged that would be when the power was not out correct? Power went out after you were rang up at leader that what you said in your email. Keep your nasty insults to yourself please. This place is really special but as someone who has to travel hours to get here and take the time to take off work and plan to come here - I am more than insulted - still not refunded - still haven't received a phone call back or an apology or any decent customer service. We heard about this place while in South Lake Tahoe. The main pool is drained and re-filled every day, keeping the water clean. There is no sulfur smell or sediment on the bottom of the pool or hot tubs. The pool had a lot of people, but we were also a large group, so we didn't notice the crowds. No alcohol allowed, which is a good thing. Bring some water as you'll get dehydrated without knowing it. A lot of people go here regularly for the health benefits of the mineral baths. We've been to other hot springs in the area, but after visiting here, we plan on going back to the other places and do some comparisons. read more

Located in Carson City sits the Historic Hit Springs. They only allow one group at a time in the lobby to check in. You then can rent a private room ($30 per adult) or go into the communal area which consists of 4 different pools. You have a two hour limit in the communal area or the private rooms. The private rooms are in a first come, first save basis. They sell snacks and drinks but you can also bring in your own food. They do not allow coolers or alcohol. Their website is incredibly informative and explains all the benefits of the pools. It's a nice place to soak and relax, especially in the private rooms. The service isn't the best but aside from that I really enjoy coming from Sacramento. They also have a restaurant and brewery in the grounds so it's super easy to make a day of it. read more

We paid the fee and walked in, we had fun and it was super non-busy and then once we left, (we were there for a total of four hours) they made us pay again because we went over the two hour rate. I tried the public pools and they were very clean. I was told they that the natural hot spring water gets changed out daily. Another thing I noticed was that there was no sulfur smell like some other hot springs have. Overall my experience was very relaxing and enjoyable. Tips: 1. Change into your bathing suit ahead of time. The locker room is small and gets crowded. 2. Bring your own towel and a padlock for the locker. 3. If I could live next door I would. The hammer is the best therapeutic tool I've found for a whole body treatment. During a massage, I often wish I could tell the therapist where to work and how hard. Indulged in a private room (picked the hottest one with 104 degree water temp) plus the outdoor pools for a couple of hours which really on a 95 degree day in July left us quite relaxed and tired. Also dry sauna. The drinking fountains will be spouting warm water on warm days so bring ice of you want to cool off. The fountains of water in the outdoor pools double as massage machines. There must be a way checking if, Carson City's Hot Springs flows downstream towards David Walley's Hot Springs, right? BTW: I noted Highway 395 SOUTH and Carson Hot Springs must geologically drain towards Genoa's hot springs marshes but, who do I inquire regarding answering my question, eh? Anyway, I drove from Carson's Hot Springs via Highway 395 South and seriously noted the Genoa's hot springs are wider and the hot springs covers more than five miles East to West and North to South than Carson City's Hot Springs which explains the reasons the Pony Express Trail Wagons always historically stopped overnight at David Walley's Hot Springs more so than, Carson Hot Springs. It just makes perfect sense IMHO. read more

Lovely hot springs resort right outside of Carson and about 30-40 minutes from Reno proper. Come for private baths and sauna to outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Stay for Sassafras restaurant and beer as well. Check for hours of operation. Private baths are first come first served. Mornings are wonderful in the fall. A bit cool but the water in the jacuzzi will warm you up. Try the high pressure massage under the "hammer" for a minute... There is a larger pool for lounging as well, with its own hammer. You won't be disappointed- check it out! Ample parking and stop by the Sassafras for lunch or dinner, while you are there. read more

Came in on a day trip on Easter Sunday and this is exactly what my body needed! I suffer from a lot of back and neck pain so the jets plus the warm water was heaven to my body. Bring your own towels so you don't have to pay $4 per towel. I can see why people think the girls at the front desk are unfriendly but it didn't bother me. They are teenagers and just trying to get paid and not provide good customer service. We went on a Monday afternoon and had to wait about 20 minutes for a private room. Btw, they make you wait outside in the freezing cold for a room to become available and don't allow you to sit in your car and wait. The private room is very private and the door locks so no one will bother you. Highly recommend getting the private room. You can also use the outdoor pools. We sat in all four outdoor pools and used the hammer for sore backs/neck. The hammer felt really nice and relaxing. The pools varied between 99-103 degrees. There are separate bathrooms with showers and toilets. This place is nothing fancy and certainly doesn't feel like a spa but is is relaxing. read more
