I highly recommend adding Tahoe Forest Baths to your itinerary while in Tahoe! My sisters and I always like doing spa and other unique things on our sister weekends, so we booked this for Sunday morning, and while we weren't sure what to expect, we are always game for something new. First, the space is clean, new and has a tranquil, yet bright vibe. We were greeted and we were told how the morning would go. After changing into disposable undergarments, we put on robes and headed to the lounge area. We again got more information about the baths and the benefits of the cedar bath. We then were given a little elixir drink, which my sisters enjoyed and I did not. So, to each her own, you may or may not like that fermented liquid. I did it like a shot - as I wanted whatever benefit it had, it just wasn't my cup of tea :) Next, we went into the baths, and we were glad all three of us could fit in one. Once we were all settled into the cedar and covered, we had 20 minutes of quiet serenity. The temperature was very nice and warm, and the feeling was very relaxing. You get 20 minutes, and that was just right. You definitely start to sweat, and they do provide cold towels for your forehead. Once you get out of the cedar, you use a unique brush to remove the cedar that stuck to your body, leaving you smooth and exfoliated! Loved it! After showering, we got dressed and went to lunch. You feel calm and grounded after the treatment. It's hard to explain how it feels, but it is excellent. Here is the kicker - they say the baths will help drain your lymphatic system. Sounds good to me, but what transpired for me overnight was stunning. I did have to get up several times to go the bathroom, and I hadn't had that much liquid to drink that evening, so it seemed unusual. But, when I woke up in the morning, I swear my waistline was 2 inches smaller and my abdomen looked tighter and I was so much less bloated! I have to attribute this to the cedar bath, nothing else I did was different that day or night. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area - it will be on my must do list!

What a great unique experience. My husband and I did this as a great way to start our anniversary. The place is decorated super cute but more importantly VERY CLEAN ! I highly recommend. This would be something fun to do with a group of friends.

My sister and I were recommended here by the concierge at the hotel where we were staying. The space was very clean and relaxing, and everything smelled SO GOOD. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The customer service was also excellent--the entire process of the cedar bath service was very clearly explained, and we were reassured through every stage, which made it easy to just relax and enjoy the benefits.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I felt amazing after the detox and will definitely be back.

What an amazing experience, from the moment you walk in the calm music washes over you and you take in the aroma of cedar. We signed our waiver and were given a tour of the changing room, lounge )with amazing Lake Tahoe views), cedar enzyme bath and showers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tim explained the long history of the Japanese cedar baths, while we drank electrolytes, and a honey tasting Japanese drink of fermented veggies.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were asked our heat tolerance- mine is medium so my "seat" in the bath was more shallow.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From the moment I sat in down I could feel my muscles automatically relax, I was covered with a light layer of cedar. It was an amazing feeling of floating and being hugged! During our bath we received a cool forehead compress, then an ice compress and again cool cloth. I didn't experience the same last minutes of more intense heat as my friend whom had a higher heat tolerance and was given a "deeper seat". After we rinsed off, put robes on and met in the lounge for some oxygen- a great way to end this service. We walked away relaxed and energized! We both loved Tahoe cedar bath, can't wait to return and definitely recommend this experience!

I am a repeat customer to Tahoe Forest Baths, I love the relaxing experience. Every time I leave, it leaves me feeling energized with a great detox, it also helps me sleep regularly throughout the week. It also makes my skin feel. Super soft and glowing. The staff is always super friendly, and the spa is super clean. I enjoy looking out the window in the cool down room, and seeing the view of Lake Tahoe. I would definitely recommend anyone in the Tahoe-Reno area to try this experience. It's great for a couples, relaxation, or going with your girlfriend or even by yourself.

Best experience in Tahoe!! I would definitely recommend this to everyone who visits the Lake Tahoe area and locals. I felt so smooth and relaxed after this! My back feels much better. What a treat! We wanted to try something new and fun during our weekend away in Tahoe and we have no regrets choosing Tahoe Forest Baths. Tim was so thoughtful and informative around the benefits of cedar and it's therapeutic purposes! Before you enter the bath, you'll be offered a drink called Super Ohtaka, which is a fermented enzyme drink consisting of 50 fruits and veggies. Once you finish the drink, he will help create the bath for you and help find the right temperature for you based on your heat tolerance. Thank you Tim for being so kind during our bath, placing cold towelettes every five minutes on our foreheads and helping us adjust so that we could get the full benefits from the heat. The cedar is naturally warming and would get hot if we moved/adjusted ourselves in anyway (so cool!) The best way I could describe it would be similar to a hot stone massage, but a warm hug. It truly was a fun experience and thank you Tim for the VIP treatment.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Thank you to Tim for being so accomodating to my boyfriend and I and allowing us to change our reservations![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've seen cedar baths before on Instagram, and I had to try it out for myself when we visited Tahoe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He did an amazing job explaining to us the health benefits of the cedar, helping us get situated, and pouring us a cup of Super Ohtaka (a Japanese beverage consisting of 50 fermented vegetables) at the end of the session.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cedar bath itself was comfortable, each session is 25 minutes. I wasn't anticipating getting so messy! It was very fun getting buried in the cedar- the way Tim explained it was like getting covered in a warm weighted blanket. It's a similar experience to a sauna, I was surprised when he told us that there was no heating in the tub and that the cedar enzymes were keeping the cedar warm! I definitely felt my circulation improving. If you end up overheating, you can create air bubbles with your toes and hands or just stick your arm out to help regulate your internal temperature- which is what I ended up doing. We got out of the tub, brushed off, hopped in the shower, and felt rejuvenated. What a fun novelty experience! read more

Nothing but 5-star reviews is telling! I was in Tahoe and needed to do something while the family skied. It popped up when I searched saunas and I'm so glad it did. It's not a sauna but an experience that you've never had before. Unless you're from Japan and then maybe you've done it. It's what everyone else shared ... peaceful, restorative, healing, warm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Kirsten was awesome and explained the science behind the cedar and warming mechanism -- quite fascinating![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have some pain in my right elbow as well as lymphedema in right arm. After the session my arm felt 10000% better. It was unbelievable. I had no concerns about cleanliness. Everything was great and after the session you brush off the cedar and then shower. Bring your own swim suit or they'll provide disposable ones along with a robe. Afterwards I was offered an elixir of some sort with digestive health benefits. It's available for purchase on Amazon for $179 a bottle! This was such a great experience. Yes it's pricey but sooooooo worth it. Thank you to the owners and staff who make this available. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is definitely a great experience, I'm always on the lookout to try new self care things and this was definitely worth a try![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You essentially get buried in the hot cedar so if you're sensitive about weight on you and not being able to move around freely this probably isn't for you but if you don't mind and you have a good heat tolerance this is absolutely relaxing! I just wish the treatment was long because it is pretty pricey for the time you get but still well worth it. read more

We went here for my birthday and it was truly a great treat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is extremely clean and the owner is very nice and helpful and even took pictures of us so that we could show our friends and family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They provide you with slippers and disposable undergarments, although we brought our own swimsuits and there's also a locker. The baths themselves are so nice and relaxing, you feel like you're in a cocoon. Afterwards you take a shower to remove everything off of you. This is definitely a great way to treat yourself with some self care. The place smells amazing too with all the cedar. It would have been nice if they had a hair dryer but I really have no complaints. If you want to try one of only too cedar baths in the country and are looking for a unique and relaxing experience, definitely try them! read more

This was an incredible and unique experience. You're buried in a white cedar mix, a living breathing organism that the owners tend to every day, it generates its own heat that you burrow yourself into. Talk about being grounded. The whole thing is unreal. I absolutely loved the entire flow of the process. My skin loved it too, I can't believe how soft my skin is!! Thank you Tim and Candice! Recommend for all. read more

So if you're reading this, just book it and go. Seriously, if you're even a little bit interested, just go ahead. You'll likely leave (at least slightly and maybe significantly!) altered. Two days later, skin is so smooth and digestion is calm, mood is still incredibly happy, loving, positive and stable. This truly is a grounding, rejuvenating treatment. The inside is lovely- clean and serene with a welcoming vibe. Tim was awesome with the cool cloths and very knowledgeable. They provide disposable undies, but for a more comfortable fit you can bring and wear your own bathing suit. I plan on adding this to my (at least) quarterly self care routine. I will be bringing all my friends and family here. Thanks Tim! read more

Incredible and extremely new experience! What a wonderful experience! This is a great way to just unwind and release stress and toxins. The cedar is small fine bits and it's crazy that the heat is all natural. Laying in the cedar bath is something everyone should experience. It's so relaxing! When exiting the cedar bath, you feel so light, relaxed and refreshed. Tahoe Forest Baths is a super clean relaxing environment. The cedar bath was a new experience for us! Tim is very knowledgeable and patient while he prepares you for the bath. The temperature is customized to your tolerance. Completely relaxing while in the detox bath. Once you are out you feel an energy boost! Your body is relaxed but your mind feels fresh! This place is so special and unique, an experience you won't forget! My husband booked a session for my birthday and it was truly amazing. Tim was so attentive. Made sure we were comfortable at all times and customized our experience. Like more heat? He's got you. Like more weight? He's got you. What a unique and relaxing experience from start to finish. The process was fully explained as we got a tour of the beautiful space and learned about this Japanese healing tradition. We came in for a cedar bath having no idea what was in store and we were blown away!! The owners had incredible customer service and educated us about the whole process! I can't believe I found this place in Lake Tahoe! I have been to enzyme baths couple times in Japan but couldn't find anything like that for more than 20years in US. Ohtaka Enzyme is a famous company with 100 years of history in Japan and I heard that the owner of Tahoe Forest Bath directly imported the enzyme bath cedar from Ohtaka in Hokkaido, Japan! Tahoe Forest Bath even provides you with one cup of the famous Ohtaka enzyme drink which has more than 50 kinds of vegetable and fruits. I felt very relaxed, Tim was checking on me with the temperature and gave me cool towel on my face couple of times. I was detoxed, rejuvenated, body was warm the whole day in the breezing snow weather, and able to sleep deeply. Worth every penny! read more

This was the BEST ! Tim was great . If you want something relaxing , this is the place . The cedar is biologically hot so they don't heat anything up . There's an oxygen bar as well as a sweet drink they give you to start the pampering . My friend and I felt so good after this treatment , I would definitely do it again ! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Tim and Candice W.

Our journey We were confident that this unique therapy could have a positive impact on Tahoe, we embarked on a journey to Hokkaido, Japan, to learn the art of the Cedar Enzyme Baths from the original creators. While in Japan, we immersed ourselves in the culture and sampled countless bath experiences across several cities. Upon our return to Tahoe, we partnered with Otaka Enzymes to bring this remarkable therapy to our community. They provided us with their special fermentation powder and trained us to perfect the baths in the unique Tahoe climate. We take immense pride in being the second North American establishment to offer this rejuvenating therapy and are thrilled to share it with our community in South Lake Tahoe. To be blunt, our experience and the lack of billing transparency at Serenity Spa was a disaster…read more My friend signed up for the Serenity Signature Package for $320 - which included a Signature Facial and the Aromatherapy Massage. Before my friend was going to receive the facial, she was pressured multiple times by the esthetician that she could upgrade to the Pumpkin Peel Facial for an extra $80, to which she agreed to. All of this should have resulted in a $400 dollar charge and a 10% tip for a $440 charge. Somehow Serenity Spa ended up charging her $564. After explaining the overcharges, the front desk receptionist assured me there were no overcharges. Then after looking further, after intense prompting, she admitted there was a $60 overcharge - she couldn't explain how she came to this number, which was still wrong. After insisting this was the only overcharge, the receptionist refused to address the remaining $60 overcharge and hung up the phone after accusing us of lying, which was incredibly unprofessional and irritating as my friend is an incredibly accomplished and pure hearted person. I'm not at all surprised at the litany of negative reviews about Serenity Spa and I would encourage everyone to steer clear of this place and their questionable, at best, transparency and billing practices.

The Spa at The Landing Resort

Please don't book a spa experience here!…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was incredibly disappointing. I'll start with the positives: Alex and Pamela were fantastic. Their massages were excellent, and they were the only reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1. The gentleman who greeted us in the hotel lobby was also very kind. Unfortunately, everything else fell far below expectations. My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and originally hoped to book at Edgewood, but their spa was closed for renovations. We asked for a comparable experience and were referred here. At $170pp, we expected something relaxing and upscale. Our appointments were at 1:00pm, and the spa called the day before to let us know we could arrive early to enjoy the amenities. We arrived at 11:00am and were immediately met with an unfriendly attitude from the front desk. Instead of welcoming us, she seemed irritated that we had arrived early, even though the spa had invited us to do so. The "locker room" was another disappointment: 4 lockers inside what was essentially a bathroom. For a couples spa day, having to change and use the restroom in the same cramped space was awkward and far from the experience we expected. When we grabbed towels from the locker room to head to the pool, we were abruptly told we couldn't use them and had to go to the hotel front desk for separate pool towels and a pool key, while wearing spa robes. The pool area itself was also disappointing. The hot tub had dead flies and wasps floating in it, and the overall setting felt more like a hotel entry area than a peaceful spa retreat. We were told to return 10 min before our treatment, so we came back early. We were then informed our "steam room" was ready. In reality, it was a tiny steam shower with enough room for 1 person to sit...not exactly the couples amenity we had imagined. To top it off, the final price was higher than quoted. We booked at $170 per person but were charged $185 per person, plus a 20% gratuity. We were happy to tip our massage therapists, they earned it, but no one explained the additional charge. For $444 total, this experience felt extremely overpriced and underwhelming. If you're looking for a true spa day, I would strongly recommend booking elsewhere.

Oh, and the shower had hair on the soap ledge and the water didn't get hot so that was nice. The waiting room in the treatment area of the spa is better (with snacks and decent seating) but I was unaware of this because the tour given by the attendant ended right outside the door, otherwise I would have hung out there until it was time for my treatments. I won't be back except to use the pool and hottub in the common area as a guest of the hotel...also, I think the use of the Japanese word "Onsen" is a joke and the antithesis to the vibe of this spa. And they played Laura's Theme from Twin Peaks twice while I was there, which was amusing but slightly depressing.

They literally took one look at us decided which healer would work on each of us. I got Wendy who asked me "soft, medium, hard, or relaxing?" I said medium hard? She knew EXACTLY what that meant and got that exactly right the whole time. She asked me 2 other questions the entire time. She was DIALED. IN. She took a couple minutes to tactically "survey the scene." She then proceeded to address every knot in my back and every issue I have been having with my back or neck or shoulders in waves for the next 30 minutes. And then she did a mini version of that to my arms and legs. Robert worked on My Love. He never even asked her. He just did the tactical survey and got to the healing. I didn't know this because I was faced down in my massage table, but I could just feel it. Like the first five minutes of this massage was so good I was convinced it was better than anything either of us had ever had before. So when it ended and we got to face each other, I said I just kept hoping and praying that you're a massage was as perfect as my massage because this was Eastern healing! (and I imagined it was better than many to all of our prior massages.) We agreed. It was the best ever. All that plus 1. Not a spa at a casino or resort, so super chill 2. Moving to Tahoe makes it hard to get my hair done as often as I would like. I moved here from LA and I'm not making my trips back home as often as before. I am a loyal client and I hate to have cheated on my hair stylist back home. But living 500+ miles away, what's a girl to do? My mom lived in Tahoe a few years ago and would get her hair done by Sarah. After moving here, my mom would tell me I should give her a try. After living here for over a year, I finally decided to give Sarah a call. When I called her, she was very professional and quoted me over the phone. I wanted to do something very different with my hair. Something I've never done before. I wanted bright red ombré hair. I was very nervous since I was going for a whole different look that I wasn't use to and especially going to a different hair stylist for the first time in 6 years! When I arrived for my appointment, she took me to her room and had a water bottle ready for me. Her room is so cute, and I love the privacy of it. The spa itself is very cozy and makes you feel at home. We discussed once more about what I wanted to do to my hair and she went straight to work. I thought it was very cute that she was just as excited as I was to do my hair. I have a lot of hair. My hair is long and thick, too. Half way coloring my hair after using a whole bottle, the color ran out! She told me that we can use a permanent red and see how it turns out. If I didn't like it for whatever reason, she will order my color and I can come back in two days and she can put the vivid red on. I was so nervous when she told me the color was out. I went ahead with the permanent red for the other half of my hair. Now for the outcome? It came out amazing! (See photo) I am totally in love with my hair! The red came out nice and bright, the permanent red was a little darker, but blended well with the bright red. She uses great products, which I absolutely loved! Even after all the bleaching done to my hair, it came out silky and shiny! Sarah is amazing at what she does and is very sweet and patient. She doesn't rush through her work, and makes sure of it that you are completely satisfied with your hair. She was such a pleasure to have working on my hair. So glad I found a hair stylist here in Tahoe to trust with my hair. I highly recommend Sarah for all your hair needs! Big parking lot but many spaces are reserved for other businesses. We arrived 5 minutes late but they were not ready for us yet. The chemical smell is STRONG and my nose never adjusted to it. I think the buildings are relatively new so inside looks clean and simple mostly. We were seated about 10 minutes after we arrived. We were offered water and we accepted mini bottles. The pedicure chairs seem brand new and I do love the classic massage. Water was too hot and usually the tech will ask about it - no biggie, I just waited a bit. They did continue to recommend multiple add on services and other spa services after we chose our service. The classic pedicure was pretty basic and fast (30 minutes seated to finished) Certain spots looked like the polish didn't fully cover the nail--like it was one coat and needed another for full opacity. I was done about 15-20 minutes before my mum. She was given toe separators but I had to ask (because my toenails can get pushed together and smudge the polish)...then she only gave me one cotton ball... They helped with my sandals to ensure no smudges but not for my mom. The service was much less than where I usually go (but prices in that city are also way more expensive) Credit cards have a 2% transaction fee - would rather that just be included in the price. I never carry cash anymore after the pandemic. They also take Zelle I heard from a spa tech. Overall just an OK experience-- maybe I'm just preferencial to my OG spa. To be fair, all the other nail spas in the area on Yelp aren't rated too well so this is probably the best of them.

I am a USA Citizen with a Latin American background and are perfectly bilingual; I worked for this company for one year maintaining the tubs and helping with customer service. When I first started at this job I helped the co owner Tim Walter tending to customers. I let them know that if the opportunity arrived and this position became available I was interested, I thought being bilingual was a plus. When opening came, it didn't happened. They promoted a four months new hired. I questioned why they didn't considered me and the co owner Candice Raynor (botox lady) just said: Nancy the reason you are not getting promoted is because English is your second language. She said we already made our decision. you are upsetting me and I am so done with you, you are so fired. I guess Tim Walter and Candice Raynor look down on minorities and disrespect foreigners. I told my husband what happened and he was so disgusted all he could say was: Well! I"ll Be Damned. This problem still exist in our society at this time.. I would not give the time of day or any business to Tim Walter and Candice Raynor at the Tahoe Forest Baths knowing they are racist. be ware... This people are bad people. They are still teaching the help to not question why they are not moving up and if they question their authority they are fired. read more

My wife and I had an incredible experience here. From start to finish, every detail was carefully thought out and executed flawlessly. I'm not really a spa guy but I'll be coming back to this place. Tim is a stand-up dude and he really goes over the history of the Japanese cedar baths and how beneficial they are, and why. For anyone like me that has old sports injuries, uses their bodies on the daily, this is for you. My muscles have never felt better. I felt detoxed, calm, and even my lung capacity was increased.
