I never knew how much I valued comfort until I realized a massage involved getting a little bare. When my therapist left the room to allow me to disrobe, I was very grateful she took that time to talk to me to allow me to get comfortable with her and the upcoming massage. As we started the massage I noticed my therapist asked me great questions, but not too much to take away from the quiet atmosphere; the introvert in me was grateful, and I never felt awkward. I got a full body massage, but at one point she said she can spend more time in a specific area that needs extra attention. I did not mind that at all because as much as I loved my legs and arms getting worked, as an office worker, my shoulders and neck were crying for attention. My husband felt just as amazing and loved his massage as well - we were in different rooms. Something he really appreciated was that his therapist noticed he was sniffling a lot so she helped him relax with some add-on essential oils. After today, my husband and I went home and really started looking into ways to add massage therapy to our routine to keep up our health. As tourists, I don't know when/if we'll return but we are so grateful for the experience.

The cedar bath itself was comfortable, each session is 25 minutes. I wasn't anticipating getting so messy! It was very fun getting buried in the cedar- the way Tim explained it was like getting covered in a warm weighted blanket. It's a similar experience to a sauna, I was surprised when he told us that there was no heating in the tub and that the cedar enzymes were keeping the cedar warm! I definitely felt my circulation improving. If you end up overheating, you can create air bubbles with your toes and hands or just stick your arm out to help regulate your internal temperature- which is what I ended up doing. WARNING TO FUTURE GUESTS: New Management Did Not Honor the Spa Package We Were Sold…read more Extremely Disappointing and Humiliating Experience I rarely leave reviews like this, but our experience with Elements Spa and the lodge where it is located was so upsetting that I feel future guests should know what happened, particularly if you are purchasing a spa package that advertises access to the lodge's private beach. I booked what was advertised as a 90-minute deep-tissue couples massage with access to the lodge's private beach. Because I was traveling with my family, I specifically asked the spa front desk beforehand whether my family could join me at the beach. I was told yes. Had I been told otherwise, we simply would have made different plans. Unfortunately, my massage with "Eddy" was one of the worst spa treatments I have ever received, and I have had many professional massages and spa treatments over the years. We were brought back approximately six minutes after our appointment time. During a significant portion of my treatment, the therapist simply rested his hands on my back while taking deep breaths. The remainder consisted primarily of extremely slow, light rubbing of lotion into my skin. There was virtually nothing I would describe as deep-tissue massage. It genuinely felt as though the goal was to let the 90 minutes pass rather than provide the treatment I had paid for. I questioned if he was even a professional masseuse after the treatment, because it was the most bizarre massage I've ever received. To be fair, my spa partner had a much better experience with Danielle. He described her as "very strong" and said his massage was something he would return for. The facility itself was also disappointing. The spa felt dated and run-down, with old carpeting and dingy, tiny bathrooms, and my massage was performed in what appeared to be an old hotel room. It was nothing like the relaxing or upscale spa experience I expected based on how the package was presented online. But the treatment we received afterward is the reason I am warning other guests. When my family joined me at the beach, as we had specifically been told they could, we were suddenly informed that the new lodge management would not honor what the spa/front desk had told us. Instead of recognizing that there was clearly a communication problem between the spa, front desk, and lodge management, the situation became hostile towards us, the paying customers. The new lodge management appeared to be a Middle Easterners, and specifically told us that they weren't affiliated with the Spa in any way shape or form and did not care what they sold us. We were ultimately escorted off the property while being accused of having "lied." This happened in front of my family and other guests and was incredibly embarrassing and humiliating. There were only four other people on the private beach besides our party of six. We had just spent nearly $500 on spa services and had specifically asked permission before ever bringing our family onto the beach. What makes this even more frustrating is that I personally approached the front desk and even offered to purchase a day pass so there would be absolutely no misunderstanding. I was assured that my family and I could enjoy the beach. I actually tipped the front desk employee because I appreciated what I believed was her helpful customer service. Yet when the new owner became involved, that assurance disappeared, and somehow we became the "liars." If the spa or front desk gave us incorrect information, that was an internal communication issue. Paying guests should not be publicly accused of dishonesty because management and the spa are not on the same page. I was willing to overlook an underwhelming massage. I was willing to overlook an outdated facility. I even tipped well because I don't like making someone feel badly about their work. What I cannot overlook is being told one thing before spending nearly $500, relying on that information, and then being humiliated and treated as though we had done something dishonest. This was supposed to be a relaxing first day of our family vacation in Lake Tahoe. Instead, it became one of the most uncomfortable and humiliating hospitality experiences I have ever had. My warning to future guests: If you are booking Elements Spa because the package includes lodge or private-beach access, get the exact terms in writing before you pay. Based on our experience, what the spa/front desk tells you may not be honored by the new lodge management. I will not return, and after the hostile and unprofessional way our family was treated, I cannot recommend Elements Spa or the lodge where it is located to anyone.

We are taking our annual winter trip to North Lake Tahoe while I desperately wanted to have some me time and a chance to relax. I had been looking to book a facial with one of the spas here. After reading all the reviews and pictures etc., I decided on Sage and it is the best decision I have made re: facials in a long time. Wendy is friendly, personable and knowledgeable. By looking at my skin, she knew what I needed and how to make it better. She even upgraded my facial but only charged what I booked for. The treatment room is beautiful and serene, clean and orderly. I felt so comfortable there. On top of the excellent facial treatment I received, Wendy also moisturized and massaged my hands and feet. It was a treat from head to toe. One little drawback was the treatment time did not leave too much time for facial massage. The result is amazing and I can still feel the glow one day after the treatment. Now every time we make it up to Tahoe, I have a new favorite place to visit. read more

Wonderful spa. I booked an energy healing session because I was having anxiety over learning to ski for the first time in my life. Wendy was very accommodating with scheduling. SAGE offers awesome classes too! I signed up for a cooking class through SAGE and it far exceeded my expectations. It was in partnership with SPOON restaurant(also in Tahoe City) and it was "making herb oil, honey, butter and vinegars." Wendy and Zhee Zhee were amazing and a wealth of information. I learned about the many benefits of different herbs, how to incorporate them into oil, honey, butter and vinegar and then what to use them for. And after all that we made a variety of delicious dishes with them. It was a great class! read more

I did not mind that at all because as much as I loved my legs and arms getting worked, as an office worker, my shoulders and neck were crying for attention. My husband felt just as amazing and loved his massage as well - we were in different rooms. Something he really appreciated was that his therapist noticed he was sniffling a lot so she helped him relax with some add-on essential oils. After today, my husband and I went home and really started looking into ways to add massage therapy to our routine to keep up our health. As tourists, I don't know when/if we'll return but we are so grateful for the experience.

I believe they told me clothing is optional in the areas. In the spa they have a relaxation room, changing rooms, showers, bathrooms, cold plunge showers, sauna, steam room, hot tub, and outdoor heated pool (access for both men and women). Past the relaxation room is where all of the message rooms are. And there are I'd say they have close to 20 rooms. They have a lot back there! The staff is very well trained and does a great job to make sure you are as comfortable as possible! They even offer alcohol that's included if you want it. The only thing to be aware of is that the services are pricey. Around $300+ for each service. But I think worth it in my opinion.

About the massage - she obviously knows what she is doing and has the strength to really have an effect. I noticed this when she met me with a very firm handshake - always a good sign. As an athlete, I felt like she knew exactly where those sore spots are and went after them, as this is often what separates a good therapist from a great one. She arrived early, brought all her equipment including special aromatherapy oils, music, clean sheets for each client, even a few massage tools I had never seen before (they felt amazing), a warming table and more. Her technique is exquisite! She is very strong, and really helped those of us with sore muscles from a day on the slopes, as well as the folks who just wanted to relax. Her demeanor is so friendly and calming, her energy is just wonderful. I normally go to Burke Williams, International Orange, or Kabuki in the city and she is just as good (if not better) than therapists I have had there. If you're going up to Tahoe for the weekend, near Kings Beach or Tahoe City and want to add a relaxing massage into the mix, I highly recommend giving Evon a call. You'll be SO GLAD you did!
