Netflicks (referral service), but I don't think it is spelled like that, but close.) gave him my name! And he came over that evening to give me an estimate. I wasn't impressed even from the beginning, but I did not follow my instinct which I usually do which tells me what I need to know about somebody at least their character. And I didn't do my three interviews, which I usually do. We made arrangements for him to start the next day, but I believe it was raining and it rained so much during the next three weeks we could not plant because the grass was too wet to cut. Zoyzia. And it was too late to plant. Finally started the last week of May. He was to cut a lot of of my shrubs back so the backyard would get more sun, lay down fresh soil all over the backyard after he churned it up. I forget what it's called. Tilling. OK. So the next day he sends over two very young people, a brother and sister. He had not even told the brother that they would be cutting all those shrubs back so the young man came unprepared, although he did it with the pair of pruning cutters. He worked hard and didn't complain and got the job done. I was later told that they were never told what they would be doing on a job just to go to a certain address. He had a tiller, but he barely turned up the dirt where he was to plant. Then the owner had not even delivered fresh dirt. The young man had to stop what he was doing and go to wherever you get fresh dirt and bring it back to put on the YARD. Well, he didn't get much you're supposed to put 4 inches down and I was lucky if I got 1 inch. I know I got 0 inches in some places. They didn't really know all about laying down sod!!! they didn't have a roller to smooth it out after they got it all laid, which attaches it to the dirt they were supposed to put in so roots can grow down into it. I have that hard clay muddy dirt that San Antonio has been blessed with!! you can imagine what that poor little ROOT has to go through to get through that down to the area where there's water. The owner never came out to check on him. LaTE in the day after these two young people had worked their little hearts out, two guys came over. I don't know, one was his brother I think, don't know who the other one was, and proceeded to help with the last bit of planting. (???). They did take all the shrubs they cut back away, cleaned up the front really well and were here till probably 8 o'clock at night. Then took the shrubbery he had cut back and dumped it. I'm hoping it went in the dump where it's supposed to go in the city. So the moral to my story is this. I would stay away from this group no matter what you want done they seem to advertise that they do a little bit of everything and yet know nothing about anything! The owner never returns phone calls. Never. I told him his Customer Service really sucked! And I meant that with a capital CS. Not sure you can count on him when it's not raining to be there when he says he will be or to be there on time or at least have someone there because he never showed up at my house. Those two kids did. Found out later the young lady hadn't even been paid weeks later. I mean, that is just horrible. It was hot. It was a really rough day for working outside all day. We Furnished ice and bottled water for them and a few snacks. But they were hard little workers and I told him so. Anyway, to make this long story short I don't care if you wanna remodel l, put in a new shower, landscape, whatever, please stay away from this company! Oh, and I forgot to tell you, they covered up my sprinkler heads with the grass they planted. Now I'm having to pay a sprinkler guy to come out and uncover them and put in new ones for those we can't find! COVERED THE SPRINKLER HEADS WITH THE GRASS!!!!! I could go on, but I won't. If after coming out they decided that they didn't want my business I would've thought the professional thing to do would to just say thanks for the inquiry but this is a project we're not able or willing to do. Just based on his responses if I were a customer considering this company I'd reconsider after looking at his responses doesn't take responsibility for his actions.

While there are aspects of the project that we feel they did a good job with (mainly the pergola), we feel it's important to warn other potential customers of the issues we have experienced working with them. First, this company uses subcontractors, and unfortunately, many times they didn't show up at all to perform the work they were scheduled to do or performed the work incorrectly. This led to significant delays throughout the project and was extremely frustrating. It put us in the position of constantly following up to ensure the work was done and done right. As an example, the concrete steps we asked them to build were initially very narrow and a safety hazard. We asked them to correct that. Our pergola was not built correctly according to the design, and we had to ask them to correct that as well. The railings around the patio were installed incorrectly, and again we had to ask them to correct this. We understood that the stain of the existing patio may never perfectly match the new concrete patio but the colors are not even close. Dominic was our main point of contact with Freedom and was apologetic every time this occurred (which was frequently) and let us know the excuses the subcontractors provided. They did make these corrections, but what I'm not sure Dominic (and Allen) with Freedom understand is that this is absolutely a reflection on their company when they hire subcontractors that either unreliable, incompetent, just "don't care," or all of the above. Unfortunately, they had already stained our concrete steps so when they did fix the prior sloppy work, the stain didn't match the remaining patio. The biggest complaint that we have with them is that once the entire project was complete (in April 2023), within a month the concrete overlay that they had put on our patio to match the extended patio we built (which it never did) started to deteriorate in a section of the patio. (We now know from speaking with others who have knowledge of concrete work that this overlay was not installed correctly from the beginning). We immediately informed them of the issue and 3 months later (after repeated texts) they repaired the section of damaged overlay without restaining. In other words, we had a large white patch of concrete on our brown stained patio for another 2-3 months. Again, after repeated texts and excuses, they finally let us know they would be sending someone out to stain the patched area of concrete. We had asked them to ensure that the patched area matched the remaining concrete and asked them to fix the issue with the entire patio being multiple different shades of stain. To this they asked us to either pay $3800 to correct the poor staining all done on our patio by THEIR contractors or only stain the patched area of concrete for free. We absolutely refuse to pay Freedom more for THEIR work that was not done right to begin with and agreed for them to only stain the patched area (with the expectation that it would, at least, match the existing patio). Of course, it doesn't and looks awful. I included a picture here so you can see how bad this looks. We are now left with a concrete patio that is 4 different shades of brown and is an eyesore. We have texted Allen and Dominic multiple times to ask that they do the right thing and restain our patio so that all of THEIR work is one color. What is very disappointing is they are not even responding to us anymore. There is no sense of wanting to do the right thing for their customer or even taking pride in the work they are doing. It is very disheartening that after trying to be understanding with them throughout all the delays/failures in the project once they got their money they really didn't seem to care. Allan/Dominic/Freedom Outdoor Living, if you are reading this and would like to correct your staining work on our patio and make this right, we would gladly welcome it and be happy to amend this review.

Todd is the owner and president of the company and he came by to look at our bathroom and hear about what we envisioned for the remodel. Todd showed up on time for our consult, and was very friendly and knowledgeable, we discussed price and materials and came to an agreement on what we needed our budget to be. Todd wrote up a quote and contract, we reviewed and signed it, and agreed on a start time for the project. We met Todd at a material store and picked out all the tile and discussed fixtures. Todd has a cabinet maker that works with him and this worked out because we had a custom vanity in mind. The representative from the cabinet maker came by and got all the dimensions and finish choices that we requested. This remodel was going to be down to the studs, replace the tub with a walk in shower, plus a modification on two existing walls, and the installation of a door between the bedroom and bathroom, so it was a major project, but Todd assured us they were up to the task. Todd's and his crew showed up on the day we agreed on and after introductions, they got to work. Todd estimated 2-3 weeks, and they finished exactly at three weeks. Because of the new wall in between the bedroom and the bath, the bedroom walls were painted completely so everything matched. We also had custom shelves in our bedroom that had to be taken down while they painted, and they reinstalled them when they finished. Mario, the lead craftsman on the project was amazing, he truly a master craftsman who can do it all, carpentry, tile work, plumbing and electrical, and his helpers, Noe and Steven were very good also. The vanity top was custom cut by one of Todd's vendors and he did an exceptional job. Overall we love our bathroom, it is exactly how we envisioned it, and would recommend Stiefvater Construction highly. Todd went above and beyond managing the project and was very open to us picking out all the tile styles and paint colors. He checked in on a daily basis to see how everything was proceeding, and always kept us updated.
