Ladies, if you're feeling a bit intimidated or worried that you'll be treated differently, don't be. The only thing you really need to survive AFA is a sense of humor (that goes for the guys too) I remember sitting in college, debating whether it was the right path for me or if I should take the leap and pursue a trade. I'm beyond glad I did. I have absolutely no regrets about attending AFA. Ralph, Ronnie, Doc, and Kyle not only taught me during my time there, but they continue to teach and support me even after graduation. Whether I need extra practice or advice, before an interview or for a weld test their doors are always open. Luke, Robert, Marcio, and Gus have also been incredibly supportive and instrumental in helping me grow in my welding career. Never in a million years did I think I'd find myself in aerospace, but here I am and I couldn't have done it without the amazing team at AFA. If you don't have the means to practice outside of the school, you should think twice about it. 15k down the drain with nothing to show for it. But the school is run properly and well supplied. My experience attending WCC's SMAW course was not what I expected. I was looking for a school for underwater welding, which I had discovered is a part of Commercial Diving. But I enjoy practicing overlapping stringers, working on the cruciform(s), and Oxy-Acetylene cutting in this course. The 3G and 4G is challenging for me. Once, I had knew that I was not compatible with 3G and 4G. I felt comfortable and a lot better talking to staff member Ian, who is also a former Commercial Diver. Grateful to know that welding is a small part of learning in commercial diving (my next venture). I am still motivated, and look forward to completing the WCC's Welding course.

If you're looking for a program you can complete relatively quickly and you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn the trade, you can succeed here. However, from my experience, you will have to depend heavily on self-learning and help from classmates. I personally felt that the instructors in both the AM and PM classes could have been much stronger in the classroom and more hands-on in the lab. When I first entered the program, I knew absolutely nothing about the electrical trade, so most of what I learned came from putting in the time to teach myself, practice, and learn from my classmates. Another issue was materials. We would sometimes run short on electrical materials and have to wait a while for more to come in. Even when they finally arrived, the amount we were allowed to use was limited, which made it harder to get as much hands-on practice as we should have. I think future students should know is that job placement assistance was not what I expected. The school tells students that they will help with finding employment, and the website mentions "Job Placement Assistance," but in my experience, I had to do most of the job searching and applying on my own. My biggest piece of advice to future electrical students is: once you receive your ET card and OSHA 10, start applying immediately. Don't wait until graduation. Apply everywhere, email electrical companies directly, call companies, and go above and beyond to get your foot in the door. CET can give you an opportunity to enter the electrical trade, but you need to be consistent and willing to teach yourself, practice, ask questions, and actively pursue employment. Your success will depend heavily on how much effort you put into it.

The school approved a 90-day leave agreement. However, around day 82, before the agreed period ended, the school contacted me and informed me that my program was being shut down. They also stated that I would not receive my certificates and that I would still be responsible for outstanding fees and payments, despite the program being discontinued before I could complete it. I would not recommend this school. As a nonprofit organization, they often experience delays in receiving materials, sometimes taking two to three months. The staff's communication with students is unprofessional, and they do not provide meaningful assistance with job placement after completion. However, if someone is simply looking for a way to pass time, this school may be an option. Mr.Bridges

I came in with 0 knowledge on how to use tools or troubleshoot HVAC units. I got to work with 2 great instructors which were Mr. Jorge R. And Mr.Gonzalez , both great instructors with many years of experience in their respective fields. The classes were very fast usually lasting 7-8 hours on Saturdays and I believe 4 hours if you decide to take the weekday schedules. The office staff people are great as well and will help you with any questions or problems you encounter on your journey. Big shoutout to Cindy, Mr. G, and Jorge R. They have absolutely no clue what smart data analysis is or what they are analyzing. They have no degree in Educational Leadership. Some may have an ONLINE college degree but it may be business or something unrelated to Education. What does that mean to parents and your students? That means your student is not being treated fairly, mistakes in grading, mistakes in scheduling, Student rights trampled on and more!
