The food was amazing-good, old home cooking. Service was superb. Already planning to go back.

I was really disappointed with this meal we got. I ordered chicken fried steak mashed potatoes, and my wife got the fried chicken. The chicken fried steak tasted like it came right from the store freezer pre-made. I think I had better chicken and chicken fried steak from quick store. I was looking forward to home cooked old fashioned food and got disappointed with this. read more

Carriage Crossing Restaurant and Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Yoder, Kansas

They have amazing home cooked meals here. i would recommend this place for a small dinner with your family, but if you are having a large family gathering, i wouldn't recommend going here. The staff can be rude and the management is not polite. They treat their workers and customers like garbage. read more

Use to be worth stopping but things change over the years! Last couple of times I have stopped in Yoder for lunch or dinner the food has went down hill.I don't know if it's changed hands as to owners but the food isn't as good as it use to be! Deserts are ok at best read more

The food is incredible. Homemade comfort foods. Whole Pies are half price after 7 pm. Veggies are the only thing a little iffy. However, the service can be slow, particularly for Saturday breakfast. Keep in mind when planning a visit. read more

Carriage Crossing Restaurant and Bakery - Fried okra- the best! - Bakeries Near Me - Yoder, Kansas

Had a very tasty, filling breakfast. My friend had the bacon with biscuits and gravy and loved them. My husband and I split the Western omelet and a cinnamon roll. Both were tasty and we couldn't eat them all. Great service as well! read more

Great breakfast. The biscuits and gravy could feed my wife and daughter together. Cinnamon rolls were amazing. Highly recommend! Reasonable prices. read more

I had left a bad review before talking to anyone to resolve the issue. The owner has since reached out to me and has went above and beyond to right the situation. So glad such a great family owns this restaurant! Thank you again Mike! read more

Enjoyed the menu selections. Too hungry to remember to take pictures. The bacon bigger was delicious, the BLT was decent, and my son enjoyed the turkey sandwich. Cinnamon rolls are the size of Texas and the homemade pies are a dietetics worse nightmare. I will be back and will have to start with pie with a side salad. Great customer service and very clean. read more

Everything about this place is neat. The atmosphere (Amish/Mennonite) is fun, the fact that this restaurant is in a tiny little town is awesome and the food is great. We came for lunch with a large party (9) and they worked with us to get seated as quickly as possible. As soon as we were sat our drink orders were taken. We started with bread and cinnamon butter. That didn't last long because it was delicious. I had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and potato salad as my main dish. Each item was delicious and handcrafted. Finally, we finished the meal with an assortment of pies and cinnamon rolls. Our cinnamon rolls had just come out of the oven and were both big and excellent. Overall, if you are stopping through Yoder, Kansas. Take the time to stop for lunch/dinner at the Carriage Crossing. read more

Totally delicious food in a very clean restaurant with friendly, attentive staff. Had the local pork chop and it was SO good, along with some yummy green beans and sweet potato bites that were excellent and priced @only $11.49 with choice of two sides and wonderful bread from their bakery and tasty cinnamon butter. What a treat! Took a quick tour of the gift shop and there were so many great items at such reasonable prices. Wish Carriage Crossing were closer to our home in Missouri. We would become regulars! Keep up the good work. The cinnamon rolls are delicious and enormous, big enough for four servings! read more

This is not gourmet food, but classic American, with generous portions. The restaurant is clean, spacious and open, with a gift shop at the front. Good place for large groups, including bus tours. Think chicken fried steaks, ham dinners, catfish with sides like mashed potatoes and green beans. Cinnamon rolls as big as your head, dozens of flavors of pie (whole pies also available for carryout). Service is polite, but in both of our recent visits, repeated requests for hot sauce and other condiments were never delivered, despite the seeing the bottles sitting at the wait station. Some drinks were refilled, while others never were. Wait staff could use some direction. read more

We went there on Saturday 10-15-22 about 5:15. We had to ask the server to move us cause she told me that there was no way to turn off the ceiling fan that was above us. She did move us but that became worst cause it wasn't to far from the a/c in the ceiling. So, we ordered the family style dinner for three. The food is good but once you get your food on your plate the first time to eat the food got so cold there wasn't no way you would eat anymore from the bowls of food on the table cause they were cold. No one was full but the cold food wasn't appealing. The restaurant temp was 74. I told the older lady when we paid the bill the restaurant was to cold and she told me this. That front area is hot and that is why the restaurant is cold. Sorry that is BS cause the front area wasn't hot at all. We was dressed in t-shirts and long pants. I guess we needed a winter coat!! read more

Best chicken fried steak ever! Husband loves their catfish! Pies galore! Always the best service!

Maybe it was a bad night. Whom ever was cooking had a very heavy hand with salt. My chicken fried steak, as well as the gravy were super salty. They were so salty I could hardly eat them. I do not salt my food before tasting it. read more

Negative ten stars. If I could give a negative, I would. The meat was inedible and the wait staff and hostess were far below subpar. The bison burgers we ordered were so rank we had to ask the waitress to remove it from the table because the smell alone was horrid. One bison burger was so raw the meat was red and stringy, yet. The other had a putrid smell. The waitress made no attempt to ask why the meat was being returned. And when we checked out, and went up to pay our bill, we told the hostess that the meal was terrible and the meat was raw and inedible. The only thing she asked was did you tell the waiter. She offered no apology and did not inquire further. And, we were still charged 50 bucks for the meal. I would never recommend anyone go here. And I know, we will never return. read more

It's not fast food! It's good American comfort food in a casual slow paced friendly atmosphere. What more could you want?

This is a tasty spot to stop at for lunch or dinner if you're in the area! Comfort food galore. The fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy plus carrots were so good. They also have a varied selection of homemade fresh daily pies to choose from. And wait til you see the cinnamon rolls! read more

Great food with fair prices. Staff are always smiling and helpful. Always busy but location is large and can usually get seated quickly. Have tried both lunch and breakfast and can't go wrong with either. Don't forget to get some pie and grab a cinnamon roll to go. read more

Surprisingly bland. I don't think anything we ordered was seasoned. Not even with salt.

Love this place! Food is home style and reminds me of a cracker barrel type of Restaruant. Reasonably priced and the staff of great! Very friendly. They take great care of you. Grab some cinnamon rolls on the way out to take home. Your family will thank you. Check this out next time you are close by. read more

My husband and I usually stop here with my parents en route from the Wichita airport back up to the Salina area when we come out for visits. In seventh grade, I rode a school bus through Yoder, every day to and from school. It's a quiet Amish community. It's good solid, mid-Western food for a great price. The pies are what you wish your grandma could bake for you every day. If you're in the Hutchinson area, it's worth a drive out to Yoder to eat here. read more

Yummy! I had steak and eggs. The steak was perfect! I wish I wasn't so far from home or spending more time here. I would eat the steak every single day for every meal! Grandson, who is eight, had buttermilk pancake and fried mush. This kid never finishes all his food, at any meal, and he gobbled this up like it was the last meal he would ever have! Our server was PERFECT. Never have we had such great service. Thank you for a pleasant meal, great service and welcoming restaurant. We will be back! read more

Always a favorite restaurant. Select meats from Yoder Meats across the street. Quality comfort food any time of the day. Fried chicken is a must, as well as those homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. Menu is very affordable! Don't forget to get your pie for dessert!!! read more

Carriage Crossing Restaurant and Bakery - Daily homemade cinnamon rolls, warm them up with some butter. To die for. - Bakeries Near Me - Yoder, Kansas

We visit here with my in-laws when we come up to see them from Texas. We usually end up taking some of their great pies and oh sooo good and huge cinnaman rolls ($1.99 for a salad plate sized one).... The food is good homecooking like at grandma's house. There are 8 of us today and rhey are used to larger groups and easilly accommodate them. The service is prompt and friendly. A good choice for traditional American cooking. Yummy read more

One of my favorites! Everything is always excellent. If you are craving down home comfort food, then this is your place. The fried green beans with ranch are to die for, as is the grilled chicken breast. The marinade for the chicken makes it so tender you can cut it with your fork and its melt in the mouth delicious. They also serve family style meals beginning with salads for all and your choice of meat/meats. In addition to that, your party is served bowls of mashed potatoes and other vegetables that are shared and passed around, as well as homemade bread and beverages. These meals are priced per person, depending on what meat/meats are chosen. They also offer various sandwiches and some seafood choices. Of course the pies are the highlight of the meal. Pies are sold by the slice or as whole pies. They always have numerous varieties to choose from including cream pies and fruit pies. They also sell enormous cinnamon rolls in the display case at the front near the register. I've never tried them myself, but they look amazing and are large enough to nearly feed the entire family. The service is very good as well and they have a very nice gift shop where they sell all kinds of things including Amish made baked and canned goods. As this is in Yoder, KS, you will surely see the Amish influence and some of the waitresses are Amish. There is also quaint shopping just around the corner in downtown Yoder, with various little shops to peruse. Definitely worth stopping in if you've got the chance. read more

Food was outstanding, service was attentive and prompt. Has a neat old country store were you can buy merchandise and old toys. Highly recommend the pies. read more

An interesting experience, obviously if you want to get a closer look at the Amish, this is a quick and easy way to do it. Don't forget to pick up some of their brochures to learn more about the Amish lifestyle. Great for groups, we came here with (literally) dozens of people, and while it takes a while (like anywhere when you have that many people), they overall did a good job taking care of us. The food was nothing spectacular, pretty typical, American, homey food. The pies were obviously the star. They had a bunch of kinds, including some kind of a brownie/cookie pie (which ended up being more just like a brownie/cookie, fyi). Decent experience, probably wouldn't care to come back, but not unhappy with coming once. read more

3.5 stars. I've heard about this place for so long, and finally today, after a visit at the Salt Museum, made it out here for lunch. The menu impressed me as extremely well priced for some high quality ingredients. There's nothing wrong with the final dishes either, it's just that they weren't outstanding. cinnamon bun- HUGE. And the other thing going for it was that it was not dry. Somehow, it was too bready though there was a ton of butter and icing on top (like literally, the butter separated from the icing). Roast Beef sandwich. I was going to order a BLT or grilled cheese, but thought that would've been a poor decision since Carriage Crossing was known for the freshness of its meat. So I ordered the roast beef. Poorly executed. The sandwich came out covered by a large lettuce, so the bread was quite soggy, though they had made the effort to toast it. Meat was not dry, but pretty tasteless. Fried chicken- Good, but portions were small. Fries and onion rings. Fried well. Baked beans. likely the best thing I ate. Not too sweet, though I would've liked to see some meat in there. Bread with cinnamon butter. Bread was so fresh and soft. Enjoyable. Strawberry pie. Good, but not enough to be highlighted. I'm glad to have eaten at this Hutch institution. Very reasonably priced solid food. And the service was very good. read more

Recently Stopped In Carriage Crossing,as we had been there years back 2 other times food good! Gift shop nice, cinnamon rolls years back were very good! This trip we of course remembering those cinnamon rolls we picked up a 2 pack as we checked out! Got home that evening we got our cinnamon rolls- they were hard all way through, like stale bread, ugh, so heated little piece up in microwave, didn't help to much... I looked on the package for a date of best used by- nothing no where! So maybe it was way passed the time of best used by So DISSAPOINTING!!!, the recipe may have change too I dont know. I don't usually write negative reviews, maybe this will help in keeping items for sale fresh for everyone!!! If the rolls were soft and fresh I would have given 5 star.. read more

This restaurant is hard to review. I was tired of my healthy home cooking in these days of covid, and I was passing through, so I decided to give it a try. They have an online menu, and I called from the parking lot to place a to-go order. It was easy to order and my pie questions were answered quickly. The front staff were quick, friendly, and polite. All were wearing masks, staff and customers. It was left to customers to keep distance, and the line to the register was voluntarily spread out. There was hand sanitizer at the register for communal pen use. They did forget a second roll. We had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. It all hit the spot, good comfort food, but nothing to "wow" over. Same for the pies. Good enough, but not worth raving about. I sliced, toasted and used the cinnamon butter on our one large roll for breakfast. That was stand out deliciousness. read more

Quite tasty little place to stop and grab a home cooked style meal. Everyone recommends the fried chicken. Plenty of tasty pies to choose from and a decent sized gift shop with fresh made bread, jams, pickles, and gifts of all sorts. Staff is friendly. Ate the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and corn. (Also recommend the carrots) Nicely seasoned and quite tasty. Ate it all with just enough room to have a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie. Quite tasty! read more

I came here with my family, including two young children and a waitress there (I believe her name was Maria) was extremely rude. She sighed and rolled her eyes when my husband changed what he was going to get when he ordered. She didn't set our plates down nicely and was extremely passive aggressive with all of her movements and body language. She mumbled almost sarcastically when speaking to us and never made eye contact. I have no clue why she was so rude towards us, especially in front of our children. Great place regardless of the service from Maria. Highly advise the management to train her better and have her learn some manners. I won't be coming here again. read more

A nice place to stop when coming or going to Hutchinson. My husband and I had a wonderful breakfast that was simply outstanding. This little Amish restaurant, you get a lot for the money and we had wonderful service. We ordered cinnamon rolls and coffee cake to take home to the rest of the family and to enjoy some ourselves. Do go, it's simply wonderful. read more

I hadn't been here since before texting was a thing, but decided to swing in for what I remembered being the best chicken fried steak in the entire country. When it finally arrived, it looked like it was microwave fresh fare from the freezer isle. Just a tiny slab of soggy meat drown in some gravy. Nothing else on the plate. It tasted fine, but it is not what I remember getting here. The presentation was a disappointment. I also ordered mashed potatoes, but received a saucer of gravy instead. When the taters arrived, however, they were delightful. Obviously home made and done to perfection. I wish I could say the same for the salad. If I wanted to dump a bag of Dole greens into a bowl, I could have done so at home for much less coin. Service was fantastic! Our waitress was excellent and we tipped her well for her effort. read more
