Let me start my review by saying what a cute, clean, quaint, charming Café is Carrera Café. Walked in yesterday at 1:15pm and was greeted by Gaby at the register. You place your order at the register, then once you have a seat, they will call your name and you go and pick up your order. My food and beverage came out quick. Milton was another employee that was working with Gaby. He waa calling out our names for us to go and pick them up. Café was packed on a Saturday afternoon. A lot of young kids between the ages of 15 to 25. And then the baby boomers take a step forward..like myself. Well, something in between. They have extensive menu options from Sandwiches, Salads, Pastas of too many kinds, Bagels, some other appetizers that's on the menu ; categorized as Spotlight. Variety of Baked goods, and are known for their signature Egg Sandwich on Croissant. They also have many types of hot and cold beverages from Matcha, Mocha, Espresso,Hot Chocolate, Americano, Coffee, Latte, Tea & more. There were couple of things that I wanted to try like Eggs Benedict and Omelette, but they didn't have it. It's fine, when you are starving, you will settle for anything. So I went ahead and placed my order with Gaby. Got their famous Egg Sandwich on plain Croissant with: scrambled egg, tomato, lettuce, easy Mayo, and Avocado for $2.00 more. The Egg Sandwich was $16.00. I also got their IL TACCHINO-- (turkey sandwich), which came with roasted turkey with provolone cheese, crispy iceberg lettuce, sliced heirloom tomatoes, avocado and mayo. I opted for light pesto paste for the mayo. On a fresh Baguette (not toasted). If I wanted the bread to be toasted, I am sure they wouldn't have objected to it. ($18.00). My sandwich came with either chips or salad, I opted for salad with light Vinaigrette dressing. It was perfectly balanced. Oil, vinegar & wine. For a drink, I got their 24oz. Strawberry Mocha Iced decaf Latte, with an extra cup of ice. ($8.50). I do have to say that the Mocha dominated more than the Strawberry. It was totally fine with me, since I hadn't had a Mocha drink in a very long time. It was SUPER REFRESHING! Portions were plenty. Prices were fair, Food and my beverage was above and beyond fresh, flavorful and DELICIOUS!! No parking, only street and metered , one gender neutral restroom and a cute, small, lovely patio seating adjacent to the Café. Great music was playing overhead. 10/10. The sandwich was fresh, but the Matcha is very blend, actually not good at all.... I think this place is lovely and deserves a visit if you're on Melrose Ave shopping around. I used to live by the block and had coffee dates with my roommates here/tried out their drinks and dishes and they're all standard healthy options. Veeerrry cute! I was waiting for a date and since the pink wall is easy to find I figured this was a good place to meet. I ordered the coconut latte with cold foam iced. So good! They had a good selection of pastries and the interior is decorated very cute. I was disappointed the little patio area seemed kind of under construction. There were only a couple tables and idk it was fine but didn't feel particularly welcoming. Iirc a couple chairs were stacked but it was later in the afternoon so maybe they were about to close. I love coming back to this coffee shop. The baristas make amazing foam, even though it's someone new every time The pastries are absolutely incredible -- the Nutella donut and almond croissant are my favorites. Work in the Melrose/Wilshire area and you are looking for a place to grab lunch? Definitely hit up Carrera's! I know most people come here for the printed lattes but you need to check out their pastas! I honestly wasn't planning to eat here at all that day but I decided to try their penne pasta and I am so glad I did. It is a very decent size portion, my photo doesn't even do it justice. The flavor was delicious and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The cafe itself is small in the inside but there is some seating to get work done if needed. I stopped in mainly to use their WiFi for work, but I ordered a coconut matcha (I've seen them all over the place and have been curious about the taste), and it wasn't very good. Stopped in for lunch and left a little torn. On the plus side, the place is really charming. The interior has a fun, Parisian café feel, and the handwritten marker menu on the white brick wall is especially eye-catching. It's the kind of place where I could easily grab a coffee and hang out for an afternoon. I ordered the Carrera Club sandwich. Flavor-wise, it was good, and the ingredients tasted fresh, and I also really liked the dressing that came with the small side salad. That said, the portion was very small for what you pay. It didn't really feel like a full meal, at least not for the price. The sandwich was $18 plus tax, which felt hard to justify, given the size, even considering the West Hollywood location. I noticed the pastas looked more reasonably portioned, so if I come back, that's probably the route I'll go. Overall, the ambiance is a big win here, but the pricing and portion sizes make it tough to fully recommend for lunch. The coffee was pretty good, the latte art was super fun, the pastry cabinet looked delicious, but we didn't try anything because we were on our way to breakfast, and the service was friendly but a little disorganized. We had cappuccinos and some sort of cookie dough special latte which sounded excessively sweet, but really wasn't too bad. I was actually shocked they didn't make it too sweet. I stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant is right in front of the Pink Wall on Melrose, so it's easy to spot if you're in the area. The vibe is nice with a modern look and a fairly condensed menu. I tried the Burrata Caprese and my husband tried the Carrera Club. The sandwich was okay, nothing to write home about. It was quite tough since they have a vast menu of options filled with fun things like cute designed coffees and even PASTA. I had to contain myself and just start with something a little more basic. I ordered a vanilla oat milk iced latte and their egg sandwich that they seem to be famous for. The latte was a regular latte nothing special I do believe there are other shops that would have more of a wow effect on me. Yet still was a decent enough latte, so no complaints. As for the sandwich, now that was special. The perfectly buttered croissant bread with the slightest crunch paired divinely with whatever sauce they had in the sandwich. My goodness, I took half of it home and ate it later. Even when it was cold it tasted divine. What really round up this whole experience for me was the service. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. They are definitely visitor friendly, not like some other pretentious coffee shops. This place has made it to my "must go back lists" which is hard to get on. Carrera Cafe is the place to grab a hot or iced drink and a salad or sandwich if you're feeling hungry. Me and the hubby stopped in on a Sunday afternoon around 1ish and found a place to park across the street with 30 min on the meter still( score for LA parking!!!) we did add another 25 cent to give us 45 min. The hubby ordered a vanilla latte ($8.75) and he really enjoyed it. I ordered a matcha latte with coconut milk( unsweetened) $7.25. It tasted very earthy lol and next time I would add sweetener to it! We both got the option to ripple it ($3 each) which is putting a design on top of the foam on your coffee or tea. I'm surprised by everyone saying service was good. The guy at the counter was super unfriendly and unhelpful. Cinnamon tiramisu latte- that was good. The server said it was super sweet. It wasn't. The only way you figure out about the speciality coffees is by the sandwich board outside. Nothing inside the store. What? Didn't know anything about the amazing foam art because server didn't say a word about it. I just saw it when I came back in to get my food. Avocado toast was just ok. We sat outside for about 30 mins and there were plates from the previous tables that no one bothered coming out to clear up. Very disappointing. read more

About average for the area. I came because every time I drive by there's a dog patron walking in or out. There was today too. Sadly one of my dogs is not dog friendly and the other dog joins in on barks so I ordered then sat outside. Nice little faux grass patio. Coffee was six bucks for a large. Like I said that's the neighborhood. Service was OK. I try not to expect a gleaming smile from every interaction. It's just coffee. Donuts are six bucks which is silly. They're the same as ones from the donut shop. So no to the treats here ever probably. Might try the regular food another day but that too is slightly pricey and doesn't look super interesting, being comprised mostly of salads and sandwiches. Dang it Joe Biden. How often can you send a text and say, 'I drank coffee with my picture on it?'. I mean I can often enough since I've become a regular here at Carrera Cafe. I love the Ripple program they use to add images into the top of drinks. I love how easy it is to order and pick your picture or design whatever you want for the topping. The service is great, orders are taken thoroughly and are prepared in an efficient manner. I don't think I've ever waited more than between 5-10 minutes even on a busy day here. The ambiance is super laid back and chill. There's people chit chatting and minding their business. The parking is almost always readily available, there's street parking on Melrose and on the small side streets as well. I definitely can recommend Carrera Cafe for a meeting, a date, a chill day out with friends and/or family and all that good stuff. It works with its guests you can say. Thank you guys!!
