I recently replaced all of my carpets in the house (1800 sq ft worth of carpets). After much research, I decided to buy from Costco. Carpet Outlet Plus is the distributor for Costco -- they are the ONLY distributor in Bakersfield. Carpet Outlet Plus has a great selection of Shaw carpets already in the warehouse. The prices are great because they are not "special order" items and Carpet Outlet Plus was able to buy in great volume at the highest discount level from Shaw! Although you could special order, I was able to find what I wanted from the warehouse. The install team did a great job. They were timely and they were also very detailed oriented. It was obvious that they knew what they were doing and were very experienced. I would recommend buying from Costco with Carpet Outlet Plus as the distributor. Noteworthy, I was a bit concerned during my research because of bad reviews from buying from Costco. That may certainly happen (the bad experience) if you were buying carpet from Costco outside of Bakersfield because Costco uses many different distributors. With Carpet Outlet Plus as the ONLY distributor, I would highly recommend. They are a reputable company with a great staff. The only input for improvement is for the store to call you with a reminder/confirmation that they would be coming the next day or two. I had to call them to confirm. No I would never recommend them . This is the last time I would ever do business with these people and sorry to say we own multiple complexes and would have given them a lot of business . the receptionist is sorry she doesn't give messages I left three messages and each time I called back because I never received a return call. the receptionist who I feel is the first person you talk too and represents the company. To add to this I don't like being called honey which is what a particular receptionist called me . I was told that once the order was made which was on a Thursday that it will be delivered on Monday here it is on a Wednesday I have not heard from them letting me know the status of my order which would have been nice I called three days after my order should have been in I was put on hold and then "can we give you a call back in an hour we have to check in our warehouse "really ?finally got a call back telling me that the flooring would be in the next day which was Thursday hopefully .here it is the end of the day on Thursday and I have to call them and of course I hear "I'm sorry let me check our warehouse to see if it's in " Of course she comes back and says " oh it just came in" really? We LOVE our carpet. It is so plush, soft, and cushiony. The color and speckling is fantastic too. Carpet outlet helped us pick out beautiful carpet within our budget with decent padding as well. They also didn't even flinch when we accidentally gave them the wrong square footage. They simply re-measured and brought more carpet. Their selection of flooring is large, the people are incredibly nice, and they will work with you to develop a payment plan. Went here looking for a deal and found one. I just couldn't convince the wife to take the deal. The staff, including Mark (the owner), were very helpful and nice. I was surprised to see that they had more than just carpet. They have tile and wood laminate as well as the carpet. The flooring I purchased was good, but the service contractor they provided me was not! Daniel and his son did not do a professional job as they left the flooring(vinyl plank) with a gritty residue along with smearing something in about 6 places. They also scratched the flooring that involved over 12 inches. I contacted Carpet Outlet Plus about this and they sent him out to correct it. He told them that he had cleaned the flooring which was not correct. Daniel returned and scrubbed very hard at one of the residue smears and it finally came clean. He told me that I just had to scrub really hard and it would go away. I tried, but the smears remained. I called Carpet Outlet Plus again and they gave me a Shaw cleaning kit, but this didn't work either. I left several messages for the owner(Mark) to call me, but never got a call back. So I went in person and spoke with the other owner, who said she would call me the next week and set up an appointment for Daniel to return. I never heard back from her. They do not deserve the high customer satisfaction rating they claim that they have. I am very disappointed with their total lack of regard for my dissatisfaction with their contractor along with their lack of professionalism with following up with customer concerns. The job was not worth the $2,000 I paid as it was not a finished product and inferior. Stay away from this business as they do not enforce professional conduct with their contractors! read more

I was directed to carpet outlet by my insurance co to replace flooring due to water damage to my house. I went to pick out my carpet and vinyl at carpet outlet. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I picked out what I wanted and all was installed. The problem is that my carpet never ever smelled like it was new clean carpet. When I vacuumed it you could not believe the fine dust that I am still vacuuming out of the carpet. I have been in my home I month and 2 weeks and there is no way that much dust could have gotten in my house. I have no proof but I think they put carpet that has set in their warehouse forever. I am not a senile old lady but, I believe just because my insurance company paid for it they gave me dirty ( not used) but dirty carpet. Just so disappointed. read more

After spending a great deal of money (near $10,000.00) I had a problem with one threshold between two rooms that they did. I was told they do not do repairs. What? In three months I have a problem and they won't fix it? Translated, to me, that means no guarantee at all! I will never do business with this company again. The salesperson was nice, but failed to mention that one floor would be slightly higher than the other. No customer service what so ever! After I spoke to owner they did come fix the problem at no cost. It took the installer 10 minutes to fix it. But, they had refused to at first. Over this matter, I choose to go someplace that stands behind their product and will fix problems the occcur within a short while. NOT Carpet Outlet Plus. PS: the salespeople and installers were friendly, but failed to mention I may have a problem. Like I said, NO customer service. I was also told they would fix problem once, but not again. Great customer service experience! I am re-modeling an entire lower level of flooring, and took my time getting flooring samples and tile samples as well. Danielle, the sales associate, has helped me immensely through the process. Finally I pulled the trigger today and placed an order for the products I chose. Carpet Outlet never pushed me into any choices, nor did they push me into ordering until I was ready. For this I give a 5 star rating. I have purchased carpet several times and been quite pleased with both the price and installation. I also purchased the wood look tile, and was pleased with both the tile and installation...with the exception of the installer NOT removing the baseboards, but installing the tile right up to the side of them. It looks great, but I know it's wrong! If you purchase tile, be sure to discuss this with your installer. read more

I ordered carpet for 3 bedrooms and laminate to replace an area in my family room that was water damaged. I didn't buy the original laminate from this store. I found the same same laminate when shopping for carpet. It was $1.99 a sq ft. at Carpet outlet. I paid $1.59 from original store. I ordered carpet and asked sales person to check on laminate. She said she called manufacturer and they only had 7 boxes left. I asked to please order but I couldn't install at this time due to carpet cost. I figured I would at least have the flooring. She said it $2.49 a ft even though it was the last 7 boxes available and even though they had exact flooring on floor display for $1.99! I ordered anyway. I asked to please deliver with carpet and other store employee said ok. The carpet came and was installed. The installer did nice job and super clean, except he didn't bring laminate. He said warehouse guy asked if he was taking the laminate too but he said he wasn't installing so he didn't think he was supposed to bring. So I called salesperson and I was told they don't deliver if they are not installing and would not make special trip. Really? It wouldn't be special trip if they would have brought when they delivered carpet they did install. She stated they would not make special trip but would deliver next time they were in the neighborhood. Rude but ok. So a week later I get a call from someone else in store and was advised that I didn't have to wait. They would have warehouse worker deliver. I was happy so I asked if they could please deliver when I was off on Friday. She said no problem. I waited until 1 pm on Friday and no call, no laminate. So I called and was advised the laminate was never delivered to them. What??? So, 3 different people talked to me about the laminate and it was never delivered to them??? I even got a call from one of the laminate installers they use about installing. BS. Either, they sold it, lost it or they decided not to give it me since I wasnt having them install. I paid for laminate and carpet at the same time. So the store employee states I would get full refund and no restocking fee. Why would I pay re stocking fee if the laminate was never delivered to them? I guess because I was advised earlier that I would have to pay the fee if I decided not to take the laminate when I called because it wasn't delivered with the carpet. I did get a full refund but I feel cheated. I'm really sorry I didn't go with G & S carpet. I've learned my lesson. I love the carpet but this was the worst experience. We had 1500 sq. foot of tile installed in our house. We were given a fair price and a quick install date. We were told it would take 3 days (500 sq. ft.) per day. Day one the installers showed up at 10:00 am and were gone by 3:00. This included a 1 hour lunch. Day two same shift. Day 3 really started got about 300 sq. ft. done Day four got another 400 sq. ft. done. Day 5 finished around 8:00 pm. Other than the extra time to install it looked good. Next morning we went to do laundry and with in minutes the laundry room was filled with water from where installer had moved washer but did not reinstall drain hose of washer to wall drain. We cleaned up best we could. I called the store and the young lady who answered the phone said the manager could not talk to me she was busy with another customer. The installer showed up and pulled up all tile in laundry room and some in hall. Then asked if we had fans to help dry the area out( I thought that they would provide these fans). Installer said he would be back Monday to reinstall tiles. I never received a follow-up call to see how things were going nor did management ever come out to check. This was by far the worst customer service I had ever received. and I will be going else where when I replace the bedroom carpet. read more

Actually 3 1/2 stars. Front desk salesperson (Danielle) was exceptional. Took the time needed to explain all our various options for flooring our kitchen, family room and hallway. Mostly happy with the installation except that I was charged $85 to move a very plain entertainment center, hutch, corner nook, treadmill (w/wheels) and a microwave table (all empty pieces). This did not include a separate $35 for the refrigerator. The installer did not really clean up after the job was finished. His helpers left personal trash and a lot a residue was not cleaned up. I called to complain and these helpers came back but still left the residue on the front porch and back patio area. I will probably use Carpet Outlet Plus again when we're ready to replace carpet but will also compare prices, especially the labor fees for moving furniture. read more

We were in need of new carpet and I remembered that Costco gives a percentage back to the member for flooring purchases. I visited Costco's website, completed the online info for an appointment and the next day Jennifer from Carpet Outlet Plus contacted me. She came to my home and took measurements and we went over what I was interested in. Currently Costco is giving a Costco Cash card in the amount of 10% of your Shaw Flooring purchase PLUS there's no tax. You can't go wrong with that. Jennifer is VERY knowledgeable when it comes to flooring and told me the good, bad and ugly of my flooring choices. I wanted a nylon carpet for its durability and something that could withstand a rambunctious dog. Jennifer made suggestions and even had carpet samples sent to me in overnight mail. How's that for service!! She has the most patience of anyone I know because it took me over 2 weeks and numerous visits to the store before I made my decision. I'm happy to say WE HAVE NEW CARPET and it's beautiful. It's Shaw Caress which is so soft, durable, kid and pet proof. Yes it was a bit more than I had planned to spend but with zero taxes and the Costco Cash Card in return I was at my budget. A win win for me! I highly recommend Costco flooring dept and Jennifer at Carpet Outlet Plus. I'm now looking at replacing my hard floors and will go to Carpet Outlet Plus! read more
