To be fair, we walked in at 6:20pm, and they closed at 7pm, so there wasn't a lot of time to ask questions. We had a very lovely and friendly gentleman who was simply doing his job and being attentive, noticed we were looking for assistance, (many of the others seemed to busy talking with one another) While asking questions, it became very apparent he knew what he was talking about. We were excited and appreciated the fact that we could learn from him, as we aren't fully up to the latest and greatest of what's out there for technology. We appreciated his friendly, tactful and non-condescending approach to our questions. (Except for when he said the 17 inch screen was for pensioners) We explained what we were looking to get out of the laptop, the kind of work we needed it for, how we would be using it et... He quickly narrowed our choice down to three models, and educated us on the pros and cons and that these models, and how they would give us what we needed without going for the highest priced laptops on the floor. I have been in the retail business industry, owning and operating my own businesses for the past 20+ years, and my job for the past 8 years has been retail training and development, focusing on the customer service aspect of business. I have to say that Luke was impressive. He answered all of our questions, made us feel comfortable, educated us, and encouraged us to use the products and try them without any pressure. This is not easy to do, especially when the customer knows there is a commission involved. The disappointment for me, was when he said he was done his shift and was now working overtime for free. He spoke with us for 5 minutes more, and pointed us in the direction of his colleague "Shane" if we needed further assistance, which was great. (You can't blame someone for not wanting to work for free) However, Shane was busy with another customer, and his other colleague, "Felix" who we asked a few more questions to regarding the difference between a couple of the models we had narrowed our choice down, to may as well have been asleep, (He was uninterested in helping us, let lone anyone else, standing in a comatose position, staring straight ahead at the floor, with the counter seeming to hold him up), got the sale because at the end of the day, we wanted a computer and no one else was around. ugh. So I guess, unfortunately for Luke, and us, his hard work and decent customer service went unrewarded, as we had to ask Felix for help to get the laptop. I so would have preferred, and felt better about spending €1000+ at a retail business that encouraged their staff to care about people, and teach them about what customer service actually means. This company could use some guidance on how to help their employees succeed and also feel appreciated in their roles. Clearly, this is an upper management issue.

I loved the choice of sofas that they have in the shop. So decided to buy one, I placed my order on 05.11.2011 and they told me that they will try to deliver this before Christmas, but cannot promise. But normally they would deliver within 8 weeks. They never called, so in mid January 2012 I decided to give them a ring to find out where is my new sofa. They promised to give me call back, which never happen. So after few days I called them again and again... and again. So at this stage I experienced very bad customer service. On Staurday 21.01.2011 (after 11 weeks of waiting) they called me and said that sofa never arrived and they don't know why. So I just went there to cancel order and get deposit back. I already bought a lot of furnitures in shops around Dublin and this experience was the worst one. Please note, that I'm only sharing my own opinion of their service. Thanks, Aleksander

The first time was January 2012 and the sales where on at it was a fecking nightmare. Parking was almost impossible and you would have thought by the crowds thronging into Harvey Normans that they must be giving the stuff away for free. It was wall to wall with shoppers, the staff where trying to appease everybody and it was utter chaos. I was looking to purchase an American style fridge but I couldn't get adequate attention and the other shoppers where growing impatient at having to wait to be served so I left it on that particular day and purchased my fridge later that mid week closer to home. Today was a horse of a different colour. Midweek, afternoon shopping is always best, no crowds, no queues, plenty of parking, relaxed and considerably more staff to attend to your needs. Harvey Norman is a great place to shop, even if you're only looking to browse or you want to test the "expertise" of the staff with more technical queries. The spaciousness of the the store is the fIrst plus. Goods are well spaced out in the furniture and bedding areas, sections of full bedroom displays with made beds is a real classy selling point. I am in the market for a new bedroom so today was a great day to get a feel of what I wanted. I had plenty of time get a good look at the quality, no issue with giving the bed a good try out, or pull the drawers out and examine thoroughly and to take measurements. We where never hassled by the employees, (which is one thing about furniture shopping I hate, pushy sales persons trying to size you up to reach their monthly targets). The staff kept their distance and allowed us to browse occasionally and politely asking of we required assistance. We spent a couple of hours in the store browsing mostly and had a good rummage in the bargain bins strategically dotted about the place. The range is superb, and the prices seem to be competitive. Harvey Norman also arrange finance and you can get a quote or credit check done in minutes by the staff. Like all big boys I loved looking at the 60" Tv screens and the latest hi-tech surround sound systems, the computer section has hundreds of display items all in working order to try out. Knowledgable staff at the camera section where very informing and not sales pushy which is great. I really enjoyed my day off browsing here and i will definitely be back when I have got the bedroom floors down and the decor sorted.
