Students are not exactly known to be big on shopping for furniture. Having said that, it's a nice enough shop and the staff are quite nice as well. But there is nothing special about Mimosa, it's a completely adequate furniture shop in a slightly unfortunate location. It's a bit in the middle of nowhere really, because there is very few other shops in the same building which aren't geared specifically towards students.

It's one of those places…read moreyou walk into with no intention of buying anything, and then leave with a whole range of interesting items you never knew you'd ever want or need (but you need them now!) They sell all sorts, from kitchen furniture to glasses, to 'slurp' soup mugs, to banana leaf trays and garden settings. My favourite item in store is the wall-mounted wine opener, which comes in at a pretty 139 euro (ouch, but once you see it no price is too great!) A good place for some Sunday shopping if you're of the inclination. They also have an Insomnia cafe attached for those who tire of their partner's browsing habits.

Think Ikea but more expensive so keep an eye open for their sales as they generally have a good bargain to be found. When you do bite the bullet and buy something you generally still love it even after a few years and their stuff is always good quality so perhaps they may be expensive but worth it.

I loved the choice of sofas that they have in the shop. So decided to buy one, I placed my order on 05.11.2011 and they told me that they will try to deliver this before Christmas, but cannot promise. But normally they would deliver within 8 weeks. They never called, so in mid January 2012 I decided to give them a ring to find out where is my new sofa. They promised to give me call back, which never happen. So after few days I called them again and again... and again. So at this stage I experienced very bad customer service. On Staurday 21.01.2011 (after 11 weeks of waiting) they called me and said that sofa never arrived and they don't know why. So I just went there to cancel order and get deposit back. I already bought a lot of furnitures in shops around Dublin and this experience was the worst one. Please note, that I'm only sharing my own opinion of their service. Thanks, Aleksander

I mean, I meant to search high and low. .. doesn't the thought count for anything these days? Apparently not, turns out the action of sourcing an electric blanket speaks louder than making up stories about exhaustive searches. Quite by accident I wandered into HKs today and there, beside the door, a whole range of the items in question. If I'm lucky I'll be allowed to sleep in my bed by December to see if the blanket works. Lots of other bedding and soft furnishing related stuff on offer, worth keeping it in mind.
