However, the $800 estimate became a quote for a $3000 luxury brand carpet (Masland) that, when installed, was two sample-swatches lighter than the swatch from which we ordered; color varied from one part of the carpet to another depending on lighting; and it shows footprints when walked on. See photo. A color variance claim was denied by the manufacturer, based on comparing their roll to a scrap of the carpet they sent us rather than comparing to the swatch provided before ordering. None of these possible complications were explained to us in advance. The installation was excellent, though.

"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister Gimme three…read moresteps towards the door?" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

We found Creative Carpet in 2011 (after getting a new set of oak stairs installed by Henri Carrier…read morein Naugatuck, to replace a previously fully carpeted pine set). We have dogs, and need a runner for the dog's security running down the stairs. We realized the stairs looked so good it needed a runner that was just as nice. A nice oriental pattern maybe? However, we have what I now realize is "pie steps" at the bottom landing - so that meant we could only do non-patterned runner - and the oak treads were too nice to allow that. So, we found Creative Carpet, because they could do the apparently IMPSSIBLE: custom weave a patterned stair runner so it flawlessly meets the pattern at the angles of our stairs! This was in 2011 - I'm writing this now in 2018 (almost 2019) because we're cleaning carpets, and the stair runner has held up so well - you'd never know it was installed 7 years ago! John & Eileen were very easy to work with, design choices, scheduling, custom in-place installation, and we even picked out a hallway runner for the upstairs. We couldn't be happier - even 7 years later! Thanks John & Eileen!

From the first contact until the job was finished, there was superior communication, great service, and very impressive products... I have NEVER been happier with any company like I have with these guys! The key is their attention to detail and truly CARING about their customer... and listening to the customer. When first contacting Pete, he immediately had Ricky contact me to schedule the measure. We went down to the store and were impressed not only with the super stocked, clean showroom, but the knowledge they possessed in showing us all of the available options. It was great to deal with someone with so much experience for so many years, along with a GREAT price. On the day of the (free) measure, they contacted me with an exact time that he would arrive and they were true to his word! It got even better from there. They ordered the laminate (wood grained) floor and soon the installers were at our home, and yes, on time! I must say that these guys were craftsmen, making difficult cuts and angles to make our living room and bedroom beautiful! We were BEYOND IMPRESSED with the entire experience. Let me just say that for over 40 years, I have unfortunately had to deal with the big box stores, but nothing compares to this experience with Valley Flooring; I'm really not kidding! They are obviously not a big box store, and actually have beat their prices each and every time I compared. I'm thankfully at a point now where I don't need to shop around; I KNOW that I will get the best price possible and don't have to worry about a subcontractor screwing up a job, or calling someone on the other side of the earth and wait and wait for a response to a problem I was experiencing. When you call these guys at Valley, you get a human that answers the phone and will get you answers to your questions immediately. The install I was talking about (above) was almost a year ago and everything they told us (durability, fit, look, professional install) was right on the money! I have had buyer's remorse over the years on some things I have purchased or services I have paid for, but really, once again, Valley Flooring takes the time and effort to get it right. There's something to say that IF there was a problem or mistake, I am confident that it would be taken care of immediately. In this crazy, stressful world, it is good to know that this portion.. carpet or any flooring is covered (no pun intended) by this group of guys who go the extra mile to not only earn your business, but care about their customers. And because of this great attitude, I am returning once again for new carpet and another new floor in our upstairs, knowing it will be done right. I continue to be impressed with the reasonable pricing they offer, even in this new time where costs have increased (post COVID). Mike Emanuel Waterbury, CT
