I had previously reached out for a quote, but that was a while back. So back in August I sent a Yelp message to get in contact for an updated estimate, but I got no reply. I called and left a voicemail and also no reply. I sent another message via Yelp in early September, but again no reply. I called a couple more times and left voicemails, but still no reply. It is unfortunate that JH hasn't been responsive especially since they did a good job on my neighbors construction.

Over the years, I've had other handymen pass on the project. I had a handyman who was able to fill the rotted areas with wood filler, sand it, and restain it. I've even had a gate company tell me that they could not save the gate; it would need to be completely replaced. Bill was able to cut out the rotted pieces of wood, replace them, and restain the whole gate (he also repainted the decorative hardware on the door as well). Moreover, he discussed the project with a buddy of his and they determined that the gate was sitting over a muddy part of landscaping which is probably what facilitated the deterioration of the wood. We found some leftover pavers in our storage shed and Bill extended the pavers so the gate would sit over pavers instead of mud. Before he embarked on the wood gate repair, Bill also installed a valance/shade over a window. He made the necessary calculations to ensure that the valance/shade would be centered on the wall and window. He also made sure that the valence was leveled. Bill is honest, meticulous and detail-oriented. If you want someone to treat your project and your home, like it's his own, I would give Bill a call.

The latest project was on a smaller scale but he tackled it with the same enthusiasm as the bigger projects. This project was a 9' wall that he installed shiplap on as well as a 6' floating shelf. He is always precise in his measurements as well as constructing the floating shelf in a way that it is solidly attached. He explains everything as he goes along. He had to figure out how to how to make the six tall shelf sections (12-1/2' high sloping down to 8') follow an unevenly sloping ceiling while dealing with a wall surface (13-1/2' long) that was not necessarily flat or square.
