Outstanding theme park, it has such a nice vibe to the park and seems like they've made some enhancements and refreshes to many of the walkways which makes it comfortable for walking. We went opening day and it didn't feel super busy though the big rides had a long line the staff seemed to keep the lines moving. The food and drink options are decent and it's nice to see they have places to buy alcohol around the park. The only thing that needs upgrading is the parking lot and some sort of signage or illumination at night to make things easier for exiting the park in your car. Something similar to Disney World would be nice since that would be easy and convenient. Overall great place to have fun and enjoy some bomb rollercoasters!!!

Had a great time with the grandkids and kids. The park is clean! I think there needs to be more places for water to be gotten. Soda and icees are great, but water is still a necessity. Especially 95 like it was last Saturday.

Carowinds is a good time. Please note you will read there are water stations - but I only saw a few during my two trips this month. I saw one at the restroom in snoopy land - these were clean. I saw one at the end of the copper rollercoaster after you exit. If you are scared of Fury, give it a try. It does have 320 foot drop and goes 95 mph. I went loose and let myself float in my seat and just went with it - what a rush and ride. I thought the Carolina Cyclone was the roughest ride - shaking your neck. After Burner is intense - ride the front row if you dare. I suggest buying a day or season cup - we got our money's worth and was easy to use. Shade is a premium, few hidden spots throughout. Buy season pass for $89 before April 4th and comes with free parking. Otherwise you will pay $39 to park. I would give them a 5 if they added like 20 water stations to fill your water bottle - it's got here and water is needed.

    You can see the mountains!

Cute park. $84 per person plus $35 parking. If you get online tickets, they are $45 per person. Plus $35 parking as of 11.23.25. This little park has a lot to offer especially to young families. Lots of small kiddie rides. Also some great roller coasters for the bigger kids. And adults. A little dissapointed with the food offerings: most places were closed so it was a challenge to find some food. Otherwise this is a great place to spend a few hours having fun. Very clean. Workers very nice.

We're from California so we got to the Six Flags in Valencia and Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park CA. We got the prestige passes so thought while visiting NC we could check out here and Kings Domain in Virginia. Cool Park had some coasters we hadn't been on and it wasn't crowded barely any lines on a Sun during Spring break.

Winterfest at Carowinds 12/20/25 First time visiting for the Christmas Event. It was a nice day, that started off really cold, with a temperature of 28 degrees for a family Christmas Trip to Carowinds. Carowinds' Winter Fest holiday season started November 28, 2025 and goes through January 3, 2026. The hours are 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturdays. We ate a light lunch a Culver's , we arrived too early to get in the park. The cost with tax was $27.63 (if you buy 4 or more tickets online), and the parking fee is $35(regular) and $45(VIP). Regular is allowed anywhere in the parking lot, except VIP parking. Be sure to remember where you parked, it is marked with letters from the alphabet. It wasn't really crowded at 12:00, the crowd really picked up later in the day, especially after sunset. The weather was nice a high of 55 degrees, with wind gusts so be sure to check the weather and dress accordingly. There were a lot of rides open, but not all of them( there is a list of open rides on the WinterFest website) my 4 year old grand nephew and my 9 year old great nephew had a FUN time. It was fun just watching them, children really make it feel like Christmas. The people working the park were friendly, the park was all decked out for the holiday, and there was something for everyone to enjoy. The wait time for the rides was not long, everyone was in " chill mode". We left at 6:00 pm and the park is transformed into a winter wonderland, with all the twinkling lights. The temperature also started dropping when the sun went down. I really enjoyed my day at WinterFest, and is worthy of at least one visit, that just might become a "family tradition", and as usual it's ALWAYS NICE TO SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY!! Merry Christmas from my family to yours!!

The overall experience is 5/5. Some rides are unsettling, but you're at a theme park.

Ever since new management took over--and honestly, even since COVID--Carowinds has really gone downhill. It's disappointing to see how much the park has changed. Now they're charging extra for haunted houses that barely have any scare actors, which completely takes the fun out of it. On top of that, the food prices are ridiculous--three chicken tenders for twenty dollars? For those prices, you'd expect at least great attractions, strong performances, and immersive scare zones, but unfortunately, none of that delivers anymore. The whole place just feels unorganized and low-energy compared to how it used to be. It's sad because Carowinds used to be such a fun experience, but at this point, it's just not worth the money. I won't be going back anytime soon.

Parking was $35.00 4 large drinks $27.00, tickets for the conjuring $45.00 All this after paying almost $300.00 for the actual tickets for 4 people. The most puzzling part is the $0.01 charges for actually redeeming the tickets when you get there. Expensive is an understatement! The park was well decorated and the scare workers were working so hard in the mazes. There were about 1/2 of the scare workers then in past years. As a parent paying its "ok" My kids loved it , but they were not paying for the tickets, so they loved it!!

We went the WinterFest-- loved Christmas decorations and lights, they had a lot of the rides running, couple of food places and bars. We had fun Extras: Parking is around $30 if you do not have annual pass Mixed drinks at around $15.00- beers-$13.00- I do not think it was a good value

We love coming to Carowinds! You can do everything online. Purchase your tickets, pay for parking and secure your food! They have so much to offer here. Rides, a water park, a kiddie area and so many shops and foods to try. The lines can be long but the wait times are listed. Admission gives you access to the rides but you have to pay a separate fee for games, activities and the slingshot. The park is open until 9pm so you have the whole day to enjoy it! Food can be expensive but that's to be expected at an amusement park.

During the holidays this place was nice to visit, seeing the park all decorated was fun. we went on a few rides, had some , drinks, picked on some popcorn, funnel cake & candies not bad. A lot of the rides were not opened, we went on a few which were cute, the coaster between the 2 states has to be a cool concept. Visiting the park was a nice way to spend a few hours.

Carowinds is great for something to do. Is it the greatest park ever? No. Could it be better? Yes. But is it good for what it is? Sure. There's a lot of potential here, and I hope they eventually reach it. Especially since it's pretty convenient to where I live. They seem to be experiencing some growing pains, like the rest of Charlotte right now. It feels like a shell of the park it was when I was a kid, but the three newer coasters they have are impressive and worth a trip in themselves. And it looks like they're working to add more new (hopefully good) rides. Don't go into this place expecting what the theme parks in Florida offer; they are not the same. There is no real theme, anywhere. And the customer service and food options leave a lot to be desired. But if you keep those expectations in check and hopefully visit on a day with good weather, you should have a good time. And since there are only a few good rides, you can get those in and walk around or head out after just a few hours. Not great for those paying for daily tickets (and $30 parking), but if you live close enough to go more than once, the annual pass can easily pay for itself. For those with kids or that enjoy the smaller/ other rides that spin and flip around, there are plenty of other things to do on that front. Your mileage may vary. For me, I find Fury, Intimidator (still refuse to call it the new name), and Copperhead to be the best rides. The other coasters are definitely showing their age and will leave you feeling like you've been in a wreck. I was shocked at how rough Top Gun (Afterburner?) is now. And don't even think about riding that teal one over near where the drop tower was... instant headache. There's a reason it never has a long wait. Learned that lesson the hard way. Also learned there's a first aid station heading towards Copperhead that can give you some Tylenol for said headache. As I mentioned before, there seem to be growing pains after the ownership changes over the years (I believe there was a merger around 2023, if I recall correctly). Things seem to change from one week to the next and can even vary from ride to ride or team member to team member. There isn't a lot of consistency that I have found, and I'm hoping that is another thing that will improve. I imagine an operation this size with the amount of people it takes to run and the amount of people it serves takes a lot of effort to manage. Hopefully, they will work on communication across the board and will find ways to take care of their employees that will in turn benefit the company and patrons. They definitely still bring the crowds and money to realize the potential this park has, so I hope it keeps being put back into it. Especially since the crowds plus lack of bigger rides means the ones they have can get slammed on a busy day. I guess time will tell what it will be, but as of the 2025 season, it's just good for what it is and where it is.

Cool little area... still early so not open yet!

    Ask the Community - Carowinds

Does everyone in your group need a fast pass?

    Yes

    How much are the lockers?

$4 for two hours at copperhead and furry. Water park has different prices I believe.

As of June 2022, are all the rides open?

Yes but different rides will shut down during the day for safety checks or if there is bad weather in the area.

Do the fast passes change color bands each day? My kids want to keep wearing the bands they got yesterday that are an orange color but don’t want to get into any trouble when we go to get new bands tomorrow (Tuesday) when we go back… we are from NY

I said no because my was purple

Do they have things in the ride that you could keep for stuff in on rides? Like glasses.

Some rides have cubbies, and others do not. Furry and copperhead does not have cubbies and you will need to leave all loose articles with a non-rider or in the lockers. Please note, lockers are an additional fee.

    Do they have lockers?

They have a few lockers around the Park. The first lockers are near the Fury coaster. Then, in the back of the park near the Copperhead strike coaster. Lastly, in the water park.

    How crazy are the lines?

The wait for the popular attractions, like Fury, can be over an hour during the late afternoon and evenings. Although a one visit fast past is costly, it is worth the money. With a fast pass there is usually no wait at all.

Are there any admission discounts available online? Is there separate admission price for the Water Park?

It is almost always cheaper to buy your tickets online ahead of time. As for the waterpark it is included in your park ticket. (Just be aware you may want to rent a locker to store your dry clothes while swimming.)

    Do they take Apple Pay?

I was there last weekend and did not see Apple Pay as a payment option in the kiosks or restaurants.

Are outside drinks allowed? Such as water bottles filled with milk for the little one?

Nope everything has to be purchased from inside the park. They do give out free water so no water bottles can be brought, security searches any bags so you can't sneak anything in either.

Do you need an adult to enter the park?

If you are over 16+ years old, no, you do not need an adult with you to enter. If you are 16 and under, you would need a chaperone 21+ years old to enter.

    KD or Here?

    KD!

Do you have to pay to park at SCarowinds?

    20 bucks 🤦🏻‍♂️

Is the fast pass worth it?

It would depend on what days you are visiting the park. If you visit on any Saturday, the pass is worth it. Weekdays are slower. I have not waited longer than 20 minutes for a ride during the week. Also, download the App. At 4pm they lower the fast… Read more

This is one of those coasters that doesn't go upside down it just drops curves and speeds across an extensive length of track pretty much you start off high up and just race the whole thing and back making for a thrill each time you try it! This coaster is super fun and just an awesome experience for anyone who enjoys rides that go super fast and really high up because they run a few trains at a time the line moves kinda quickly so you won't be chillin for that long until you get to ride! Overall this is an awesome Coaster that I believe is just as fun as the Fury even though it's a bit different in it's own kinda way being it's named after a race car icon even though you pretty much forget about that wile on the ride as your hitting those high speeds and tight turns around the awesomeness that is Carowinds!

I don't usually spring for Fast Lane either but seeing how it was Saturday and Opening Day where The Carolinas Come Together I shelled out mainly with this magnificent mechanical monstrosity in mind. I got in seven rides on this beautiful beast. Carowinds doesn't let you choose what row you want to ride but the luck of the draw eventually rewarded me with both the front and back rows. Front is very scenic. Carowinds still had some skeleton from Halloweekends laying on the ground at the end of the veeery looong first drop which was a nice touch. Front row had my eyes watering like crazy from all the air rushing by at such high speeds. It took several rides before I got anywhere near the rear of the train but when I did I landed in the very back row and Jesus Murphy! The way that train yanks you over the crest of the lift hill had my heart in my throat! That first drop is a doozy. I couldn't get enough of it. Nor of the rest of the ride. The huge overbanked turns, the airtime hills, the flyover and flyunder of the concourse leading to the park entrance, just the overall speed - Fury is the complete package. That tunnel under the walk up to the main entrance is so much better and more dramatic than Gatekeeper's keyholes up at Cedar Point, which doesn't seem like it should be the case since they're so cool looking and unique but this coaster is much faster, bigger and better. What a way for a park to announce itself. Fury is also much better than Cedar Point's giga coaster, Millennium Force. Better pacing and elements and you really feel those extra few feet in that first drop even if it lacks that beautiful Lake Erie setting. Because of this the Cedar Point fanboy in me is glad that Carowinds has nothing like Top Thrill 2. (Which I haven't ridden yet though I've been on its predecessor.) After 7 rides on Fury I'd place it as my third favorite coaster of all time, behind only RMC hybrids Iron Gwazi and Steel Vengeance. So I see why it won all those awards for Best Steel Coaster. It's got a great color scheme and lighting package too, even if short daylight and park hours kept me from getting a night ride in. As a Pistons fan I'm not a big fan of the blatant ripoff of the Charlotte Hornets for the theming but it's funny they don't get any royalties and even I have to admit the logo and hexagon hive theming look pretty cool. Hell, I almost bought a 70s style ringer Fury t-shirt with colored sleeves but they didn't have it in my size. Ride ops were top notch even on opening day. I imagine they staff this one with their best people. I don't know if I'll ever find myself at Carowinds again. I probably won't go out of my way unless they build at least two more amazing coasters but this one here is worth the trip if you've never been. And if I lived around here this one would keep me coming back.

And when I say "ruined" I just mean brought down from my lofty 5 stars wish-I-could-give-it-6 expectations to a still very solid 4 star piece of thrill ride machinery. The launches aren't astronaut training intense but they're still fun. Inversions are the main thing here and Copperhead Strike does this odd thing where it barely gets over the uphill on the loops, slowly down and then nearly stalling out at the top leaving you hanging there. The hangtime is an interesting sensation and the restraints are fortunately really easy on the body but I just really prefer rocketing through everything. This ride is so much about hangtime that it turns you upside down with a slow mo roll they call the Jo Jo roll. I'd call it the No No Roll as it's in no way thrilling but just kind of annoying. It's like they want to know who's ignoring the signs saying no unsecured items and can go scoop up cellphones, change and whatever else from that spot and pocket it instead of taking it to lost and found. Fortunately there's a shed around the corner from there with more the rustic hillbilly theming of this ride and a pretty decent launch to begin the ride in earnest. CS is buttery smooth and has a couple floater airtime hills but as I said is more about the Upside Down than Stranger Things. I think I would have actually liked a theme like that better as stuff like the misspelled spray painted words warning of danger got pretty tiresome. I get it. They're hillbillies with ninth grade educations - haha, I'm slapping my knees over the sheer hilarity of that. The actual Copperhead Strike sign is super dope, though, complete with the fierce snake head protruding out that you'd wanna see. It kinda looks like redneck steampunk or something. I rode Copperhead Strike twice and could have gone for more but the trains are low capacity compared to the other elite coasters here, Thunder Striker, Afterburn and Fury 325. Copperhead Strike was a longer wait than Fury and I couldn't get enough of Fury so why wait longer for this?
