Responding with cancellation to an email address that bounced.

Please don't take your children and families here. I was so looking forward to celebrating my daughter's 3rd birthday on March 28th (we've been for several classmates' parties in the past). The Highlights: I am a pregnant Mom with an autoimmune disease. I called to cancel my child's birthday in two weeks (a day shy of their 2 week full refund cancellation window) and they are refusing to honor and are not accepting doctor's letters or making any exceptions. The Details: In light of the international pandemic, I went into my email on Thursday at 11:20PM and responded to the reservation confirmation to ask to cancel (since I was within my cancellation without penalty window anyway). I let them know I was a pregnant Mom with an autoimmune disease, so was going to have to cancel. Amidst all the chaos of the last few days, I noticed today that I received a bounce back on the email. No biggie, right? It was technically 22 hours shy of the two weeks in advance cancellation policy with full refund. I spoke with Sirenity, their Desk Manager, at 2:37PM today, explained my medical situation and the need to cancel (I have family who were planning on flying in and I am due to have my 2nd, so rescheduling isn't on our horizon). I offered her a medical letter without being prompted and gave insight on my autoimmune disease and immunosuppressant medication that puts me at risk. Sirenity then let me know they would be charging the $100 deposit since it was within the 14 day cancellation window (it is Sunday, 3/15, the party is for Saturday, 3/28, so I am one day shy of the 14 day window, pandemic aside). She also did not take my information to make the cancellation until I asked her again to please cancel. She let me know there was no way to supply me with a cancellation confirmation number, but that I should receive an email (it has been a half an hour and still have not received). She let me know that the only person who would be able to help me was the owner, Toni, who might be available on Monday. I asked for the times when Toni would be available and she said she didn't know. She was also not authorized to give Toni's email address or any generic info@ email address for me to contact someone. I manage a business myself and right now we are operating with full transparency, customer service and as much support for our team to have the resources and reach management/ownership with any urgent matters or if they are unsure. Disappointment doesn't even begin to describe how our family and our community of mothers is feeling about how this place has handled such a simple, straight forward interaction based in human dignity. This world is a crazy place right now and it's shocking to see how some businesses are handling this international emergency without grace. As I let Sirenity know, I will be continuing to share on review platforms and in every Mom & Parenting group I am a member of in this community. If this is an employee error, I strongly encourage the owners to call an All Hands meeting with their Desk Managers and have a proper Emergency Preparedness Communications meeting, because her lack of tools and service was appalling.

This is a small business, so they did not have to do that. When we finally got to go to the Princess dinner event my little girl (age 4) had the time of her life! They were super flexible with the girls , allowing them to do things like pick multiple nail polish colors, have seconds of foods they liked etc. They truly accommodated everyone and went above and beyond to make them feel special. Our event included a dress that was theirs to keep ( I was shocked at how high quality it was, probably $30-40 alone) manicure, pedicure with snack, face mask, (age appropriate) makeup, play time, a cat-walk experience, full meal (pizza, fruit with chocolate drizzle and several dessert options ) and a visit and personalized letter from a Princess. There was also a photographer who captured it all. It was so extra ( the owner thought of ALL the details) but in the best way! We will absolutely be back !

However, the makeup application was not completely sanitary, and my daughter got sick the next day. The lip glosses are all shared from the same tubes, which is not sanitary at all. Unfortunately, I noticed too late because I thought what the makeup artist was pulling out were new, and never used lip glosses. I realized they weren't after it was applied to my daughter's lips. I quickly wiped it off of her and told the makeup artist that this practice is not okay. However, they continued to use the same tubes on everybody else. My daughter was sick for days. The event was a lot of fun, but please parents, be aware of this issue going forward.

We had no expectations for the place since we've never been any place similar. Tipsy Paintbrush is a BYOB art studio that offers weekly classes focusing on various pictures and is available for private parties. There's also a rotating list of artists that teach the classes and offer painting techniques. On the day we attended, our class was full and picture of the night was sunflowers. It's a bright but small studio space. Parking is to be found on the street (namely Charles street which is located behind the studio) since the place only has four to five spaces to its name. There are rows of tables and stools with canvasses that have a sketch of the picture already drawn out. Classes are two hours. As for BYOB, you can bring bottles of wine/beer/spiked cider, etc that can be either be kept at your station or at the back to be shared with the rest of the class. Also, you can bring in snacks (various dips/salsas/crackers/popcorn/cheeses/etc). There are plastic cups and wine glasses available should you not bring any of your own (we brought in our own glasses). The only gripe I have is that the personal station space is pretty tight. In between having space for the canvas, paint, water glass, wine glass/beer bottle, and possible snack, there's not much room to put everything. Once class begins, the instructor will walk you through the science of color mixing and different techniques to bring the painting to life. The most important thing to remember is to have fun. It's just paint! Don't go in with such a critical view of how your work comes out. Our instructor of the night was Gina and she was great. She was really patient and offered some good painting tips! I HIGHLY recommend the Tipsy Paintbrush for a fun night out!

The two instructors chose to delay starting the class untill all participants arrived. The class was scheduled to last two hours. After thirty minutes (at 7:30), the class had STILL not started. That is one fourth of the scheduled class time wasted because of late participants. I had other plans after nine o' clock, so I had to leave without painting, A few people should not be allowed to waste the time of people who show up on time. Very bad policy! I was an art teacher for 25 years, and if people were late for class, I would help them catch up....NOT hold up instruction for the majority. I lost my money....not going back! I agree with another reviewer that too many participants were scheduled so the space was simply too tight.

Wonderful customer service and absolutely recommend My Gym to other parents. As a parent we just want to feel as though we are heard when expressing concerns especially towards our kids health. Kristen made me feel exactly that... heard and listened to. Looking forward to the changes ahead and pleased we are not pulling our child from the membership. Original review: It's a great place to go for little ones to get to run around and challenge motor skills while socializing. As any social setting like this one kids are sent with runny noses or colds and it gets really frustrating I have yet to see a worker wipe down any surface. Starting to get to the point where we are considering stopping our membership based on the amount of kids that are allowed in with colds and rashes. Almost doesn't seem worth it anymore being our son brings something new home almost every week which then spreads to the whole family. If they would have a wipe down between classes that would maybe help but as stated above I am aware toddlers frequently spread things in any setting like this.
