They took away the gift shop?! Sorry, I get attached to nostalgic spots at Disney. But, as the Aerosmith Roller Coster will make way for the new Muppets home, Carousel Coffee has made its new home at The Boardwalk Hotel. I see Disney making these quick Grab & Go spots in other hotels. The Riviera has a similar concept coffee spot. My wife and I woke up and trust me, the last thing you want to do is drink coffee at a Disney park. Yuckko! (Is that even a word?) It was nice to get our coffee at Carousel Coffee, sit in the lobby and just take it all in. The Boardwalk hotel is an iconic hotel for us, I can still see my mom with my kids looking at the gingerbread house. Wearing the Boardwalk DVC sweatshirt I bought her at the gift shop. Now, all I can do is pour myself a coffee and ask for a DVC discount. Which Carousel Coffee does not offer!

Carousel Coffee is the little coffee shop located at Disney's Boardwalk Resort. It is located right off the lobby and is only open for breakfast and lunch. It is what it sounds like, a coffee shop. They have a small selection of pastry and grab and go items as well as a coffee station. We have never really stopped here since we have not stayed at the Boardwalk, however, we recently were able to check it out. We had a breakfast reservation but went earlier to enjoy the boardwalk. We had heard about this coffee shop, but I don't think it's talked about enough. This is really for the guests staying here, it's not necessarily a place you would purposely head to the Boardwalk to go, however, if you are nearby, check it out. The staff was super friendly, it was quiet, no one was in there, but us and it was an overall great experience. The two ladies working here we so nice, they chatted with us as they made our coffee and were very pleasant to interact with. We decided to grab a pastry and a coffee. I went with the chocolate croissant and my husband grabbed the overnight oats. The croissant was very crispy surprisingly, filled with chocolate and topped with powder sugar. At first, I was surprised and wasn't sure if I enjoyed such a crispy croissant, but as I got more towards the center it was very good. I would have preferred to have it warmed so the chocolate was warm and gooey, but it was good. My husband loved his overnight oats. They had some fruit on the top and had a great taste. For coffee I went for an iced caramel latte, and he ordered a double espresso. Both were really good and fresh. They use Joffrey's coffee. They also have a special drink of the season which at the time was still pumpkin. Overall, this is a great stop especially if you are staying here. I would prefer for it to be open later since there are a lot of nighttime entertainment options on the boardwalk. I think a coffee in the evening could be really great especially if you are headed to one of their entertainment options that are open late. But I would recommend it. Check it out!

The Pistachio Toffee Cookie was my favorite alongside the Banana Walnut! Heard the amazing hype about Gideons and I knew I had to make sure I get a stop to try this amazing, mysterious cookie spot in Disney Springs. Located near the Boat House and Irish Pub, you'll see this somewhat secretive building with a long line of people waiting outside. It may seem long but it actually goes by somewhat quick at around 15-20 min and it was well worth the wait. The inside reminds of the Haunted Mansion with the spooky decor and although they only serve cookies, cake, and coffee/drinks, they honed their craft down on excellent quality baked goods here. The cookies are just densely packed with ingredients, firm on the outside and soft doughy in the inside. 1-2 cookies is definitely enough to last a long while and the cake slices are more like 2-3 slices in a slice so be aware of their sizing here. Staff here were very friendly and welcoming here, and made sure you got exactly what you were looking for. I also got one of their cold brews and it was perfectly made and sweet. Cost was fine and comparing this place to Crumbles, Gideons was hands down much better in quality and pricing. I will definitely agree with the public sentiment for Gideon: A known staple for amazing cookies in Disney Springs, you have to visit here when you're in the area and leave here with a few cookies you will not regret!

It's a not so secrete "secret menu" that they heat up your cookie and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for $3 more. I picked the chocolate chip cookie for the hot cookie, it was loaded with chocolate chips, but it was too sweet for my taste. I got the pistachio toffee, cookies and cream, and blueberry cookie to go. The pistachio cookie was my favorite, not overly sweet, sweet and salty, and loaded with pistachio! They definitely don't skim on the ingredients. If Halloween is your kind of vibe, then you will like the decor of this cookie shop.

There's almost always a line, but it moves fairly quickly, and honestly, it's part of the experience. You can watch the bakers adding the final, intricate touches to each dessert while you wait, which is really fun to see. They do offer a small selection of croissant sandwiches and specialty beverages, but for us, it's all about the desserts. From their signature creations to seasonal offerings, everything is visually stunning and (most of the time) absolutely delicious. That said, while most items are fresh and flavorful, we have experienced a few cakes that were a bit dry and seemed over baked. It's not the norm, but worth mentioning. Anyone else experience this? Yes, it's a little pricey--but it's Disney, and you're paying for both the quality and the experience. Overall, it's still one of our favorite stops every trip and well worth it if you're in the area.
