Audrey Peterson and her team filled a cavity for me - I was surprised by how well they took care of me.

I had always enjoyed my visits to Elmwood Dental until my most recent visit, so it is definitely not easy for me to write this review. Prior to my most recent visit to Elmwood, I had noticed a black speck on my back molar and suspected a cavity. I pointed it out during my last teeth cleaning session, and was quickly scheduled for a follow-up appointment to address the small cavity. This is (unfortunately) not the first cavity I've ever had in my life, so I didn't expect this visit to go any differently from any other cavity filling I've done at prior dentists. However during the appointment, while they were operating inside my mouth, I noticed the outside corner of my mouth feeling kind of warm. By the time I got to my car, the sensation had escalated to a burning sensation. One that only got worst and more painful as I proceeded home. By the time I got home and managed to property examine myself in the mirror, I noticed some pretty bad burns near the corner of my mouth on one side. I don't know if one of their equipment rested on that area by accident, or some caustic agent accidentally dripped there. Either way, this was horrific and absolutely unacceptable. Thankfully the burn wounds healed after a little over a week. However the wounds were quite unsightly until it healed. I've since changed dentists and really can't recommend Elmwood dental in good conscience to anyone if this type of accident happens on such a routine and small procedure as a cavity filling.

When my daughter and I arrived for our appointments we were told that there was no dentist on site for the day. I assumed they would have us return to actually see a dentist. Instead, they put a camera on us after our cleanings and had a dentist on a computer screen. He could not see inside of my mouth or do any exam. They actually billed our insurance for a remote dentist. They fired their receptionist and instead have a person on a computer screen when you arrive. If you try and call them to make an appointment or ask a question you will just be on the phone with an AI assistant. The AI makes exasperated sighs and even sometimes has side conversations, it's really bizarre. They have a constant turnover of dentists so don't expect to see the same dentist within the year. Their bottom line appears to be more important than high quality care. It used to be a much better business, but then they started firing people.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Sharon Albright's office, both with the dental work…read moreand with the front-desk staff. I came in as a new patient to have three damaged fillings repaired. Before scheduling, I specifically called to ask about insurance coverage because the practice was out of network. The explanation I received from the front desk led me to believe that my insurance would cover approximately 80% and that I would be responsible for the remaining balance and copay. Based on that conversation, I expected to pay roughly $500-$600. Instead, I later received a bill of approximately $1,500. When I asked the office staff to explain the charges and how the out-of-network coverage worked, they were dismissive and extremely rude. I ultimately had to figure out the insurance structure myself. A clear explanation upfront would have prevented much of the confusion. More importantly, the fillings were left uneven, creating a raised area that caused significant pain whenever I bit down. I remained in pain for approximately a month and had to return to the office twice to have the fillings adjusted. During the first follow-up, the dentist checked my bite and shaved the fillings, but the problem was not fully corrected, requiring another visit. During the second visit, while I was still experiencing pain from the dental work, the front-desk staff made me feel as though I should be grateful that the office was correcting work that should have been completed properly in the first place. They also treated me as though I might not pay my bill and would not allow me to see the dentist until payment was made. I understand requiring payment, but the way the situation was handled was unnecessarily disrespectful and humiliating. After this experience, I decided not to return. I later received a reminder for a previously scheduled cleaning, along with a warning that I would be charged if I did not cancel. The office only allowed cancellation by phone, adding another inconvenience to an already poor experience. Overall, I had to make two additional visits, experienced pain for about a month, received misleading information about my financial responsibility, and was treated very poorly by the front-office staff. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

I took the leap to try to get this done because I did not want braces or trays. After an assessment and discussion, it seemed like I was a candidate for using filling like substances to match my teeth's color. Her dental assistant Angelica was so helpful and worked in tandem with Dr. Dinh to make the procedure as quick as possible. It seemed like the two had a great working relationship where she also used her as a second opinion for the color. There was barely any discomfort during the procedure. I can say I am very happy with the results and more confident! It looks natural and there is no slight gap anymore!
