Started out as a 3 day job.. turned into two weeks because the gentleman couldn't get to our house at 9 any of the days they were to come out. We don't know a whole lot of what they did down there and there was a big lack of communication. Almost 11000 dollars later and they left the door like this (picture included) . The project manager couldn't answer the phone but normally was able to call us back. Brantley Saunders came out for the initial inspection to find cost and options. After that we could not get ahold of him at all. We'd call and leave messages and never heard back. I can only assume that the job is done correctly but I'm not sure it was worth 11000. We had Carolina energy conservation out to remove our old attic insulation call and replace with blown-in cellulose insulation and Thermax "boards". (Oct '22) it was a pleasure to meet their sales tech Kevin and he took time to explain the process and the different Products and costs. We just moved in this summer and the attic was what we considered a bit of a "disaster". The first team that came cleared up all the old insulation and did a great job cleaning up! Following day, the team arrived without a ladder. Our attic scuttle access is in a tiny laundry room/closet. I explained to the team that the prior day the guys had moved the washer out a little so that they could get a ladder in to gain access to the attic. I was told that the guys truck was in the shop and that they gave him a truck without a ladder. We discussed calling the office and seeing if someone could bring them one. They decided they were going to climb on the dryer to get into attic. I explained that we purchased the brand new washer and dryer when we recently moved in. I mentioned this at least three times to them because I was really concerned about someone getting injured or damage to the washer and dryer. They ended up bringing some sort of a crate from their truck and then putting our stepstool on top to climb onto the dryer and pull themselves up into the attic. We have not been up in the attic yet but from the pictures we've seen it looks like they did a good job up there. Shortly before they left, my husband noticed that the dryer had a small dent on the top and some light scratches. My husband mentioned this when he called the office to pay the final bill. He was told that they were very sorry that happened and then it sounded like an odd situation with them using a crate, step ladder and climbing on the dryer. My husband was told that they would notify Kevin and the manager of the situation and they would contact us. So far, over a week later we have not heard from anyone! (We also noticed that the door threshold broke at some point today during the whole process. We have not had someone come inspect the situation with the threshold- so to be fair it's possible that there was some issue and it just happened to break during the time they were here in and out for the job. Additionally, the cellulose smell is awful throughout the whole place. I have been trying to Air it out as much as possible, change the filter on the air return, used air fresheners, steamed bedroom curtains and cleaned comforters and blankets. I think it's now a bit better but so far it makes me not even want to be here. How long does this horrible smell usually last? I will update if they contact us. Also when they were here for the install part the installer went into the attic came down and said it was going to be difficult to use bats and he really thought we should change to the Thermax. After we agreed, we noticed the paper was highlighted and said "upsell Thermax" there also seem to be a discrepancy between the additional price of the Thermax and what we were told if we changed to it based on the conversation when initially had with sales. I believe, and hopefully I am quite right that they did a good job with the insulation in the attic is in good shape. I would recommend getting details written down on the contract, double check that they're gonna have any necessary things like ladders. perhaps even ask if someone call you during the install to see if there any issues.) read more

Carolina Energy Conservation performed work in the crawl space of my 80 year old father's house. They replaced attractive crawl space vents with shingle-like material. The shingle-like material fell off of the brick within one week, leaving the adhesive which looked horrible. Carolina Energy Conservation removed the steel crawlspace doors. Carolina Energy Conservation replaced the steel doors with particle board and toggle bolts. A small refund to cover the cost of replacing the crawl space doors and vent covers was requested via the Better Business Bureau. The company refused to refund a small portion of the five figures paid for the project. If you choose Carolina Energy Conservation for a crawl space job ask specifically what is planned for your crawl space vent covers and doors. Also, the dehumidifier unit installed in the crawl space began leaking within a year. read more

I requested a quote to spray foam my attic. An appointment was made for August 5th at 1:30 pm. An email was received confirming the appt. and also a pic and bio of their representative accompanied the email. Sometime around the 1st of August I got a call from their representative again confirming the appt. I had a commitment in the morning so I made sure it ended early so that I could be on hand for the appt. I was home at 12:15 pm and stayed home the rest of the day. They did not show, nor did they call, and as of this date have not called. You never get a second chance to make a first impression! read more

Be careful. I had a sales rep come to my house after I inquired about solar tubes at the home show. She saw the rooms and the darkness and said we would be happy with what the solar tubes would do for us. The one they put in the kitchen works as designed. The Dining room does not. I asked them to come out and check it out. The first guy that came out was an installer and said everything was installed correctly that nothing could be done. I complained and then they sent out the salesperson. At first she said the light coming through both solar tubes was the same. I argued with her saying they are not and how can't you see the difference. At that point, she said it is probably because of my tray ceiling. Which is it, they are the same or it's because of my tray ceiling? It's all bullshit. I finally said we're done and opened the door for her to leave. If it was because of the tray ceiling. Which I doubt, then it should not have been sold to me. read more
