I tend to crowd source reviews when looking for a new service or business. Many of the reviews pointed me towards the folks at the Baxter Barber Shop. The place is tucked away in the charming Baxter area of Ft. Mill. It has that traditional barber shop feel. Four guys with four chairs cutting hair. No gimmicks, no fluff. I was incredibly happy with the job they did on my beard. They made it look quite respectable. Wasn't much they could do for the rest of me, but that's ok. ;)

There is nothing quite like finding a professional barber that excels at their craft…read more When you met Rod, you will understand what I mean. He recently left Baxter Barber Shop in Baxter Village to hang his own shingle. If you want to support your independently owned and operated business, here is your opportunity. What makes Rod different? First off, he works by appointment. In the time of COVID, this makes a big difference. I'm not too keen about sitting in a room full of strangers who are not wearing masks. Rod will be wearing his. Secondly, he has been an established barber for many years at Baxter Village. He left so that he could offer his customers the safety of an individual appointment. This also allows him greater flexibility to offer Saturday hours starting at 7am. Thirdly, he offers services like a hot straight razor shave and beard or mustache trim. He's easy to find right off Hiway 160 near the Lowes and Chick-Fila-A in a small strip center. Ask him about his Veterans discount.

Initially, I didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling that I was going to be taken care of however it all ended well. When I walked into the lobby I see the wood and leather adorned waiting area with plenty of chairs and magazines to keep one busy. I was greeted and quickly checked in. The concern of how the visit was going to go was mainly based on the receptionist seemed pretty busy and somewhat distracted. Once I watched her in action I realized it was me reading into it and a non issue. I was offered and served a drink and quickly whisked away with the stylist who did an amazing job. She took time to notice my neck needed trimming, a bald guy with a beard rarely notices the back of his neck, and she took care of it. Most places would have done what was asked and moved on. I like the vibe, the decor, the prices and the Yelp check in discount$$$
