This is the second time I have worked with Carnival Custom Painting. Several years ago, they painted the interior of a house that l owned in Pflugerville. This time I needed the exterior of my house painted because of some squirrel damage. The crew came on the agreed day and went to work. After two days, they had my house looking like new again! Carnival used wrong paint for kitchen and bathroom cabinets which began to come off within a couple of days. When asked to repair the job, it took three times returning to utilize the correct paint only on the kitchen cabinets. The kitchen cabinets were then ok but they never returned to repair the incorrect paint they applied to the bathroom cabinets. It has been months now and the owner does not respond to our calls to complete the job. Extremely disappointing. A lot of money for very poor quality completion and poor customer service from the owner. read more

Carnival painted my laminate cabinets and although I am careful with them, they started chipping almost immediately. I asked them about their prep and they assured me that their paint was superior, but after one spray coating and a return to touch up, I knew it was not going to be good. It was not. I cant clean them because the paint flakes off. They did a nice job on a real wood cabinet and the exterior of my house, but for my laminate cabinets, I either got the B team or they dont know what they are doing, or dont care. Carnival Custom Painting Phil - Owner Rep Abel - Crew Leader of 3 Owner Rep was on-site each day, multiple times. He was responsible for paint selections and purchases. Very friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and available throughout the job. He made the initial on-site home inspection and formal job estimate. Abel and his team executed the job. Power washed exterior, addressed all areas needing attention - like re-caulking windows, scrapping, etc. Taped off windows, covered shrubs and outdoor furniture, painted entire exterior with higher quality paint than original builder's grade, even cleaned and put new clear coat finish on front door. The team worked smoothly, professionally and efficiently from 8AM to 5PM . Abel was the on-site crew leader- clearly communicated throughout the job. He was actively involved in the job particularly on the most delicate or challenging areas. Abel personally did all interior touch up work that we added to this job. In addition, he was always inspecting and making sure each area on the exterior was completely painted, and the paint intersections were clear and sharp. The whole crew cleaned up thoroughly. Home is 2 story and over 3400 sq ft. Weather was perfect. The whole job was completed in 2 full days. We couldn't be more pleased with the high quality and excellent value. read more

The Good: Carnival Painting provided a competitive quote, showed up on time, and did an overall good job painting the interior of my house. Their crew was customer friendly, took time to answer my questions, performed their work in a timely manner, and cleaned up afterwards. The Bad: Dealing with Carnival Painting crew lead Jonathan and estimator Kevin was great, however dealing with the owner Bruce was horrible. He was argumentative, condescending, and rude. My final interaction with him to clarify a billing dispute ended so negatively, it prompted me to leave a one star review. I have a big house with 6 exterior walls. It is a nice custom home. He came to estimate and I told him I only needed 3 sides of the house done since the chimney, dormers and back patio had been done during recent new roofing and remodeling. In casual conversation I told him I would love to paint whole house in new color but affording that right now was not an option. He wanted to know the color I wanted and I told him the same since only 3 sides were in need of paint. Then he wanted to see the inside. I told him we did not request a bid for the inside. He became argumentative and said he could not promise a good job since I had budget constraints. I said I couldn't know that without an estimate. He wanted to know if I had other estimates and I said yes. He said he couldn't help me and left having only seen one side of the house that needed paint and the front which is all rock. He left me feeling as if they only work for rich people and that I didn't qualify. read more

Carnival did a great job removing the popcorn ceiling and repainting my new (empty) condo. Bruce's nephew Kevin met me on-site to give an estimate and was very helpful and trustworthy. Bruce also made recommendations in terms of paint finish. They were also flexible about adding and removing specific requests days before the job started. Only took them 3 days for paint and popcorn removal in an 1167 sq ft three story space. If you've never seen popcorn removal in action, it makes a huge mess. Bruce was very prompt in all aspects of my project: initial review of work, the quoting process, and the work itself. The quote was very competitive and the performed was very professional. Warning about this company! The owner does not seem to care that his painters damaged my established plants and trees and my brand-new air conditioner. There were no fewer than 10 painters scurrying around my house causing chaos and confusion. I guess the owner wanted to get the job done quickly, so he wasn't worried about the process. We have severe damage to a large plant and tree caused by the painters standing on the thin tree branches and slamming their ladders against my house. We have a patch of dead grass caused by the painters emptying their paint sprayers on my lawn (this was just replaced). They also stood on my brand-new air conditioner and damaged the top (they did finally replace this). There was trash left everywhere around the house, so the owner sent one painter back to clean it all up. Since he still did not get it all, I continue to find trash in my flower beds. Overall, not happy with the business ethics of the owner, Bruce, and will not recommend him to anyone. read more

We received outstanding service and a great paint job from Carnival. They were the lowest bid. We usually won't take the lowest bid because companies sometimes low-ball the bid and add extra charges after they start the job and find things they missed. In this case, though, Bruce Beltran was so thorough that we knew he caught everything. In fact, he pointed out things that other company's estimators didn't notice. We pointed them out to other estimators just to make sure we got apples-to-apples bids. After receiving the initial proposal, we emailed Bruce several times to get clarification or add things and he always replied by the next day with answers and updated proposals. Carnival said it would be 2-3 weeks before we could get on their schedule but Bruce called us 3 days after signing the contract and said his guys wanted to get started the next day. They showed up right on time on Thursday morning and worked all day. They pressure-washed the whole house exterior, as well as two brick patios and front porch, cement patios and walks, and a wooden pergola. Just as Bruce promised, the whole crew stayed onsite the whole day. By Friday at 5:30pm, they were completely done and cleaning up. At one point, they had 8 guys working on our house. It was quoted as a 2-day job and they made sure they got it done. All the work is clean, no paint spills, no over sprays. The paint on the house and the stain on the pergola look great. They also replaced a few rotten boards and a bunch of worn out door weather stripping. We have nothing but praise for Carnival. Highly recommended. read more

We were the ones who looked elsewhere. The entire time, and way over an hour we tried to talk to Brian the night he called us, was spent with Brian talking 100% about himself! I wrote him an email the next day, and we told him we had decided to go with another contractor. There were no nasty words in the email and that is why he would not risk placing what I said here? It entailed no nasty words whatsoever. It took him a total of 8 days to even notice I had written him and rejected his bid as our contractor. He hates using technology and does not like talking about the specifics of a job. Lots of people have had the same issue with this company, watch reviews! We went with a company who specializes in painting kitchen cabinets and also told us that we should never have even considered painting with a contractor who was going to use anything but oil which takes about ten days. The contractor we have gone with says once our cabinets had been painted with oil, that you should never paint with anything else but oil. Carnival's bid did not state oil-based paint, nor did they even try to explain this? We sure would not have considered painting with Carnival after finding this out. Our cabinets would have started peeling after one to two years had they not been painting with oil-based paint. Carnival's bid did not state they would paint with oil, and we also asked for Sherwin Williams Paint and Carnival's bid had down Kelly Moore paint. Also, each time we brought up a question about the description of work to be done and what kind of paint was best? - Brian tried hard to change the subject on us. We finally got the clear impression that when it comes to custom work, he just was not too interested. He wants easy, no question, cookie cutter painting jobs that do not eat a lot of his time. Some contractors in Georgetown have become spoiled to this lucrative time period due to so many rapid transfers of real estate here. It is very sad! read more

Awesome! I have used several different painting crews for the numerous "flips" in the Austin, Westlake area that I have completed over the years... Carnival Painters were by far the best! I had renters in a property which they did not maintain, and did a lot of damage. After they moved out I had do redo everything ( Kitchen cabinets, walls that had been damaged, all ceilings being painted, etc ) Brian's crew came in on the day scheduled, worked hard for (8) eight straight days and finished the house from top to bottom. At the time Bruce and his crew were able to start my job fairly quickly during a hectic period.
