I met Steven at the Home and Garden Show so I assumed he'd be a good business. Most unprofessional person to work with EVER! I hired him to retexture my kitchen, paint the kitchen walls, ceiling and trim, paint a small bathroom and paint the shutters and beams outside. He told me it would be a two day project. It was a 4 day nightmare. Day 1: Steven said he was running late. I waited until 2pm and called again and he said he was at my house and talked to my husband and put a sign out. I was home ALL DAY. My husband was at work, NEVER spoke with him and there was no sign. He said he must have gone to the wrong house. He clearly forgot about me, no showed and lied to me. I should have dropped him there but gave him the benefit of the doubt. DAY 2: They were supposed to come at 9AM, they didn't come until 1pm and worked until 4. The shutters and beam were painted the wrong color. Was supposed to be dark brown, almost black. He picked a light greyish brown. Steven said that that's the color most people chose (although I didn't ask for what "most people chose", I asked for dark brown.) It felt like he was trying to convince me to keep it. He was super belittling when he was talking to me. But then he went to go get the color I wanted. DAY 3: They were supposed to come at 11AM, they came at 2:30pm and stayed until 8:30pm to finish the job. I don't know where he got the guys for the job but they were not professional painters. No screws or nails were removed, no holes were filled, they dripped paint everywhere. One guy was on speaker phone with a girl the entire time, one guy was just kind of walking around doing nothing. There was a whole crew and really only one guy doing the work. Day 3 Continued: I noticed they didn't paint the ceiling in the kitchen as instructed. They told me they did paint it. They painted it white... It was already white. Not what I asked for. I told Steven and he told me that's what he thought I wanted because most people pick alabaster white for the ceiling. I have emails and told him in person that it should match the walls. He told me he won't charge me for the trim to compensate. I told him I need the ceiling repainted so he said either he would repaint the ceiling and charge me, or he would leave it as is and give me the trim work free. Basically he offered a discount if they didn't have to fix the job they screwed up on, or he'd charge me full price on the job that should have been done right in the first place. At that point, I was so frustrated with the whole experience and I went off on him over the phone and he didn't charge me for the trim or to repaint the ceiling. Day 4: Steven sent some guys over to paint the ceiling, as well as the beam outside that they forgot to do a second coat on and was left a different color than the shutters. It was supposed to only take 2 hours tops. They were at my house from 9AM through 1:30PM. I don't know how that took them so long because they had multiple people working. They cleaned up absolutely NOTHING. There was a layer of dust over the entire kitchen bathroom and hallways and paint splatters on the counters, floor and cabinets. Steven never came by to do a walk through like other painting companies do. We ultimately decided we weren't going to bother asking because we didn't want another day of dealing with him or his crew and who knows when they'd ever come anyway. read more

I cannot speak to the quality of their painting because we never got that far. Their response time was horrible and their customer service was non-existent. Just getting a call returned was difficult. After making an appointment for an estimate, Steve Long never showed up. After waiting an hour, I called to see if I was confused about the appointment time. Turns out, he decided he didn't want to come. He even went so far as to say he decided about an hour before our scheduled meeting. He made made no attempt to contact us and no apology was made for wasting our time. I met with Steve to retexture ceilings. He provided me with a quote and set a start date. Not only were they a no show, but no response to the numerous texts and phone messages. Carnival Painting re-stained a wood fence in my backyard to look like new. They repaired and repainted a black wrought iron fence to meet my neighborhood association rules. I received numerous quotes to replace the iron fence. No one wanted to repair and repaint. Carnival did a great job and saved me $2000. They were quick and efficient. I have never written one of these reviews before but that being said I felt I needed to tell people who may be interested in hiring this company to do their painting a few things I have learned through the process of finding a Good and Reputable company to get our business and unfortunately Carnival Painting is way Low on that list! First of all the object of any good company you would think would be Customer Service? Well, Steve L is very lacking in that department! ;-( I had asked him to please come and meet with my husband and explain the project to him (since he is paying for it after all?) and he did come! But what he did at that visit and what he e-mailed me after I had decided to go another direction was just plain RUDE and very unprofessional! He went into telling us that he would paint our cabinet doors with them still hinged to the cabinets and then proceeded to tell me to be sure to throw a lot of my plastic containers etc, away there useless anyways? Why people collect them is a waste of space and time? HuH?? Seriously, he was going on and on about the most ridiculous petty stuff? I just wanted answers to the job at hand. he seemed not to interested in my topics? But the Main Reason for my wanting to post this is because of the way he treated our new Puppy that day! ;-( Puppies are Puppies so that being said, I had her outside which of course she barked to come inside, Steve says Oh I have dogs let her in, upon doing so our pup excited as they are known to be? started jumping up by him He proceeded to Knock her down with his knee and I do mean He Knocked her so hard one time she fell back and hit the wall!! Now I'm sorry but seriously that was so uncalled for I was in shock and after he left I looked at my husband and said NO WAY are we hiring a company who treats their customers in that manner! So, I told Steve we decided to go in another direction with another company and he wrote me this nasty e-mail telling me I should Not of Wasted his Time with the second visit then? Oh My Goodness? The worst experience ever, job that was to take 5 day took 4 weeks, started off with 5 guys 1st morning and ended up with 2 guys the rest of the job. There is no custom or quality to these guys. Steve tried to paint the ceiling with a color I did not ask for saying that is what they use for all the ceilings. I had to ask for them to repair nail pops, cracks they would not do anything that was discussed with Steve. They patched cracks and did not re-texture so it looked like a patches all over the ceiling. They forgot to do window ledges, behind toilets, and edges of shutters. I ended up with paint all over my wooden floors, wooded staircase, fans, light fixtures, screens, and brick. These are not professionals they couldn't make a transition of straight lines from ceiling to wall. There was over spray on the exterior foundation and not enough on the rest of the house. Lost fixture (toilet paper and towel holders) Left rioted wood that they replaced in the yard. Had to ask for left over paint and they left two 5 gallons without covers and tried to leave the empties. These guys do not deserve any stars. Please see pictures. read more
