Came in before it got super busy

Family owed restaurant. Authentic Mexican food. Food made fresh everyday. Feels like Mexico's when stepping in.

Best carnitas in town (that I've tried so far). They make it the traditional way where they cook the pork in its own fat and involve a mixture of meats. Most places I've gotten "carnitas" at here in MN just use flavored shredded pork, which tastes terrible, but not this place! Thank you for making carnitas the right way! I wish that they had rice and beans and I kinda wish their other meats were as good as the carnitas. We had some lengua and some steak tacos which were ok. But if you want good fatty carnitas tacos in the twin cities, this is the place!

Chicken Quesadilla

Delicious Carnitas! Great place to stop for lunch. Chicken Quesadilla was big, cheesy with tender tasty shredded chicken. Pastor and Lengua tacos were very good, Carnitas was my favorite, tender and delicious. (You can order it lean, or with more fat) Counter service was friendly and helpful. Mild salsa is a verde, medium is red and has some heat to it. Wr

Delicious carnitas, in Chicago we would get carnitas every Saturday but since we moved to Minnesota I hadn't found a spot like home. Until I found Don Tachos , the flavor is on point and the carnitas are soft!

Pork and steak tacos

Finally tried this place. I've been reading reviews and driving by multiple times since I live close by. Im glad I did. They say they're known for their carnitas and the people are right!! I went in and got me two carnitas and two asada tacos. I got their hottest salsa they had which had habanero. I tried the carnitas first and I was mind blown from the flavors it packed. This is by far one of the best carnitas I have tried at any Latin joint. The steak couldn't hold up to the flavors the pork had. Moooo on over cause these carnitas just took over. These bad boys are$2.50 each and that aint bad of a price. I just found my new taco joint by the house.

Three Carnitas Tacos and a medium Horchata!

Another great spot I discovered thanks to my snooping around on Facebook lol. This place lays claim to making the best Carnitas in town. Now I can't say for certain if that is true since I have yet to hit up all the taco joints in town but I can say they have the best Carnitas that I've tried thus far! And for me that is a big plus since Tacos Carnitas are my favorite kind of tacos. The inside is small, simple, but feels very open. Also the service is friendly and quick. For my first time here I had to try their Carnitas since it's in their restaurant name. I kept my order simple and got three Tacos Carnitas with a medium Horchata since I love Horchata! When my tacos came I loved that they had the authentic accompaniments of chopped Cilantro, Onions, and a Lime wedge. I decided to keep one taco plain, one with their green salsa, and the third with the Habenero Salsa. The salsas added a lovely kind of refreshing kick to the tacos. But I actually preferred these tacos plain since the Carnitas meat has plenty of flavor to them already. I was suprised to see that the they serve up their carnitas with bits of the braised pork skin. That adds a great texture mix up along with the stringy but juicy tender Carnitas. The Carnitas themselves were plenty juicy, not at all dry! For flavor they were good but after several bites I kinda felt like there was a saltiness built up on my palate and then it became too overpowering for my taste. But to counter that I had my cup of Horchata. I don't know what it is about the Horchata here but it seems so much more refreshing that other Horchata I've had. After a couple bites of my tacos I just chase it down with a sip or two of Horchata then my palate is refreshed and I am ready for more Tacos! Overall in my opinion they do make the best Carnitas in town! Along with their refreshingly flavorful Horchata I got myself the perfect meal!

Carnitas and steak tacos. So yummy!

Honestly, when you order this, you only need to put in one order for two people. You get a quart size to go container and two flautas. The had great flavor and it really hit the spot. The flauta's had a nice crunch and were a perfect balance to the soup. What I did, for two people, was order two of those soups, a couple tacos Al Pastor, chips and guac. Yeah, it was overkill but everything was tasty.....and I know I'm not going to get all Pastor tacos like you do in Mexico City (on a legitimate gyro spit) but hey, they were pretty good with a nice balance of the pineapple. Anyway, it's nice having an another soup option that is solid.

Food took probably 15 minutes to come out and it did not disappoint. I got the steak quesadilla and wow, no words. the flavors in the quesadilla melted together and the cheese pull was astonishing. 2 meals and 1 drink came up to 20$ for me. The murals out front were beautiful and the environment in the restaurant complimented the experience perfectly. I would also like to note when my bf got up to get a water they gave him a big cup. i am a water fanatic and when a restaurant provides enough water to quench my thirst during the meal that never goes unnoticed.

Even though I came early in the afternoon and the place wasn't packed yet, the atmosphere was still welcoming, with a "come as you are" kinda feel. The staff? Super friendly and laid-back. You could tell they love what they do, and it makes all the difference. I ordered a large margarita and listen, it was hitting! Strong, fresh, flavorful.. one large is truly all you need. For food, I went with the chimichangas, and they were everything. Crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside 10/10, no notes. Definitely planning to come back, maybe during a livelier hour to see it in full swing. But even on a quiet afternoon, this place left a solid impression. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

When I got my order, there was oil and sauce on the bag from dirty hands, but worst of all nothing tasted fresh. The tortilllas with the tacos were hard, the al pastor was dry, and the meat/onion ratio was heavy on the onions. The avocado was dark, lettuce was wolted and the limes did not produce much juice. I usually love Los Ocampos, but I won't be going back to this location.

Hello all. I was recently called to Minnesota for the sake of attending a rodentology convention,…read moreand having recently been separated from my beloved mouse, Truffle (aged 5), from my heinous Aunt Tesla and her prized fleet of falcons, I resolved to take Truffle everywhere with me on the brief excursion. Strapped securely inside his viewing bubble, which is affixed to the enamorating chest of this ladies' man, Truffle and I both realized we had a marked hankering for fruit. Reviews told me that this particular establishment in St. Paul has a delightful mangonada, I figured I could acquire a slice of watermelon for Truffle, and we had a tight window of time between our waking up, my bidding my previous evening's lady date au revoir as we escorted her out of our room, and attending the 4:00 lecture on the latest developments in artificial chinchilla reproductive technology. It was a 2.5-hour excursion, but with proper utilization of hydroplaning in my rented vehicle (which mirrored the purple one in my fleet back at home in my Auburn estate), we shaved it down to 1.8 hours. Round trip, of course, and factoring in departure time, Truffle and I left and returned in time. Upon arriving, I realized this would be a convenient opportunity to practice my Spanish, a language I have not spoken in six years. With frequent use of the phrases "Mi amado ratón, Truffle," "Amplía tus horizontes musicales al escuchar The Killers," and "Oye cariño, ¿quiere escuchar un dato sobre roedores?" I left the establishment with my delicious mangonada, fresh fruit for Truffle, a few new prospective lady dates, and my own musical horizons broadened by a customer's recommendation to examine the musical stylings of James Taylor. I was not disappointed. While at the convention, I acquired a T-shirt with the official Capybara slogan, "Excellent at both diving and swimming." Upon entry, the first sight that caught my eye in this fine establishment was a mango, so I have inserted the following image, moreover a rough rendering, to better exemplify what I found so endearing about the fruit. An ode to the mango is in order. Truffle was given his very own mango by a customer who found him endearing, so he is now a man of the mango, like myself. -Dr. Marris Dare

Everything is fresh, delicious and made there in house. They have a walk up order area with casual seating, a full sit down restaurant area and an awesome patio. In the warmer months they have their Elotes truck out near the back entrance. The customer service is friendly, welcoming and very helpful if you have questions or need recommendations.
