The beef is high quality but I wish they offered some higher quality pork and chicken. All chicken is "all natural" and without hormones, as those are illegal. This labeling is misleading and shouldn't be allowed. Without certification of what it eats and whether it's humanely raised, t's just standard chicken that ate god knows what, probably lived in crowded conditions, etc. On my first visit I got a chuck roast which was wrapped in butcher paper as it should be in a traditional butcher shop. On my second visit I got stew meat, which they didn't have but offered to cut up some chuck and then packaged it on a styrofoam plate with cellophane. I went a few miles out of my way to this place solely because I wanted to save another piece of the styrofoam and piece of plastic wrap bull crap from going to a landfill. I asked the guy if he could change the packaging so we can save the styrofoam and he said no problem and then proceeded to discard the tray in the trash. Then proceeded to put the meat in a plastic bag after I said I don't want a bag. FACEPALM. I truly don't understand how everyone is so blind to the insane amount of single use plastic is going into landfills and our oceans. Especially in more conservative areas like this area. It's almost like people in these areas don't want to consider the environment and think it's silly and stupid to do so. At least that's the feeling I got after leaving here.
