This place was great. I loved they had an everything I needed for my carne asada. They had fresh veggies, lots of different types of meats. They had prepared salsas, chips, Chiles, cheese, sodas. Carnicería Los Compadres just keeps on proving to me that it's simply the BEST, time and time again! There's other good ones out there in the La area but no one does it like them. The perfection of their cuts and marinade doesn't compare, they do it best. The meat literally falls apart when your invitees try to get some from the pot. El Compa Freddie always shows me love and gives me that top quality service. He remembers our previous conversations and that's always appreciated. Literally stumbled into Carnicería Los Compadres while running errands and... best. decision. ever. First time we grabbed ranchera, marinated chicken, and costillitas for a family BBQ and omg it was elite. Like, everyone was eating and then immediately asking "wait where did you get this meat??" Went back again (because duh) and picked up some chorizo seco in habanero flavor plus more meat, and the carnicero was so nice he even threw in free salsa. The vibes, the service, the flavor 10/10. I found a video of this place on my reels. We were in the area yesterday and decided to bring home some meat to cook. (Btw we live 2 hrs away from this location). The two gentlemen working that greeted me and hubby, were friendly and provided great customer service. The lady at the register does not greet you but she was helpful when we asked for a restroom. I have to say the meats we got a few different choices were all so good! The flavor, the tenderness of each meat was perfect. Our favorite was the ranchera but it was different cut, the gentlemen helping us recommend it. Great meat! The chicken was also very tasty, juicy and had a great flavor. the meat is very good, tasty and fresh. I also used to buy their guacamole and guacasalsa but they've changed their ingredients. What used to be tasty is now over seasoned. The guacasalsa has become super hot which overshadows the avocado flavor and the guacamole is sour from lemon or lime but it's too much. I tried stirring it up and ended up throwing them both away. This review is for the two burritos I purchased. Ordered a asada burrito and Al pastor burrito. The al pastor meat was salty and dry. Each burrito was $10.99 plus tax. The asada was better but I must say that I would not come back for the burritos or the other food items on the menu. My friend referred me here and assumed it would be a good burrito but it was not. Seasoned meat has a good flavor, BUT, their customer service is HORRIBLE! I walked in on Saturday afternoon and was not greeted. I walked to meat counter and the butcher answered with "what do you want!?" No hi how are you or how can I help you?! Then, I go pay at the register, the cashier very nice to customer if front of me but when it came to me no "hi how are you?" Just begin to ring me up... I waited for her to say something welcoming to a customer, like most places but no. She didn't even give me my total I had to ask her?! Really?! I would go to this meat market often but this is the last time I will step foot here or give them my hard earned $. I will go to La Carniceria and Mr Meats where I am always treated with courtesy and is always very welcoming! Even the Carniceria Compadres in Lynwood has way better customer service than this place. I'm on the fence, I didn't enjoy the burrito i got, i had high expectations, but the one thing that bothered me was how they don't change gloves when handling money then working on my burrito. Ive only been here once so maybe it was just an innocent mistake (i'd like to think). Overall, i was disappointed. The service at the meat counter is solid. I purchased ranchera meat, marinated chicken, salsas, and chicharrónes. I purchased quite a bit and my total was about $169 for everything. The asada was not as flavorful as I had hoped especially for something that is about $15.99/lb. That's a premium price and the butcher I normally go to isn't as pricey anymore and he has prime beef and other great quality meats. Do I recommend this place? Maybe if they adjust their pricing but for now I can't. You normally get what you pay for but in this case I feel "jipped". Sad too because I can walk there but I'll just go to my usual spot. read more
