I've been going to Carniceria Los Compadres for years. I originally started going to the Lynwood location and continued going to the Downey location after I moved. I've always been happy with the quality and service, which is why today's experience was disappointing. I ordered tasajo today, but what I received looked more like thin-cut strips of ranchera, and to make matters worse, the pieces were very small. In all the years I've been coming here, I've never had an experience like this. Honestly, it felt like I was given whatever pieces of meat were left over rather than what I actually ordered. I hope this was just a one-time issue because I've always considered Los Compadres one of my go-to carnicerias. I'm hoping they can do better and maintain the quality that has kept me coming back for so many years. read more

RUDE ASS carniceros! They don't have a ticketing system so it's hard to tell who's next. They'll send you to one side to start a line but even then, they'll skip you and when you tell them it's your turn, they're impatient. I won't be coming back. read more

But today they did me kinda dirty I got 8 lbs of preparada and my first few top pieces of meat perfect then bam around 6-7 lbs of straight fat. Meat came out chewy not tender everyone at my get together thought the same. Hopefully next time it isn't like that . When I mean chunks of fat I mean big pieces like the photo it resulted on my meat being really charred from the fat burning. Idk if it was just to make weight but man kinda disappointed. The perfection of their cuts and marinade doesn't compare, they do it best. The meat literally falls apart when your invitees try to get some from the pot. El Compa Freddie always shows me love and gives me that top quality service. He remembers our previous conversations and that's always appreciated. First time we grabbed ranchera, marinated chicken, and costillitas for a family BBQ and omg it was elite. Like, everyone was eating and then immediately asking "wait where did you get this meat??" Went back again (because duh) and picked up some chorizo seco in habanero flavor plus more meat, and the carnicero was so nice he even threw in free salsa. The vibes, the service, the flavor 10/10. I found a video of this place on my reels. We were in the area yesterday and decided to bring home some meat to cook. (Btw we live 2 hrs away from this location). The two gentlemen working that greeted me and hubby, were friendly and provided great customer service. The lady at the register does not greet you but she was helpful when we asked for a restroom. I have to say the meats we got a few different choices were all so good! The flavor, the tenderness of each meat was perfect. Our favorite was the ranchera but it was different cut, the gentlemen helping us recommend it. Great meat! The chicken was also very tasty, juicy and had a great flavor. The service at the meat counter is solid. I purchased ranchera meat, marinated chicken, salsas, and chicharrónes. I purchased quite a bit and my total was about $169 for everything. The asada was not as flavorful as I had hoped especially for something that is about $15.99/lb. That's a premium price and the butcher I normally go to isn't as pricey anymore and he has prime beef and other great quality meats. Do I recommend this place? Maybe if they adjust their pricing but for now I can't. You normally get what you pay for but in this case I feel "jipped". Sad too because I can walk there but I'll just go to my usual spot. read more
