    BMW iX EV

This is the third car that I bought from Carmax and like the previous two, I got a great car at fair price and the transaction went very smoothly. The latest car bought there was a 2023 BMW iX (EV) was on December 26 that I had shipped in from the Ocala Carmax store. I'm totally satisfied with the car, the price, and the service. From arriving at Carmax Tallahassee to driving off the lot took no longer than 1.5 hours. In all fairness, there was no financing involved. The only complaint that I could have made is that the car was only 45% charged when I drove it out of there.

Went with my daughter to assist her in picking out a car. The day before we had a horrible experience with Werner Kia and high pressure sales people and add-on fees that totaled almost $5000. CarMax was a total opposite. NO PRESSURE consultants...not used car salesmen. The entire experience was smooth and easy from start to finish. WE picked the cars we were interested in and they would bring the car to the front and let us test drive. No sales person even rode with us and we could take it out for 20 minutes with the option to take it home for 24 hours for a longer test drive. We had picked a 2021 Toyota Camry and it looked like a brand new car. It was beautiful. There was no need to haggle but the price listed is the price they sell it for. There are no BS add-ons like Kia. CarMax offers an extended warranty if you want but no pressure to buy it. We bought it because it was fantastic and at a reasonable price. After the final purchase we were told that CarMax gives you a 30 day, no questions asked, return and refund should you choose the car is not for you. That won't happen because the car is amazing. CarMax will have many more sales from our family in the future.

I have not purchased a car from here but so far I like their level of professionalism. I have busted this placed at least 3 times in the last 3 weeks and every time they have allowed me to roam the lot with the hassle of the "used" car salesman asking me every 3 seconds do I need help. Now what I also like is how ALL the cars are unlocked allowing me to get in and picture/imaging myself in it. All in all, if they have a great interest rate my next vehicle will cow from here.

Ah, DriveTime Tallahassee. Where do I even begin to wax poetic about this gem of automotive retail?…read moreAfter a decade-long hiatus from the thrilling world of car buying, I decided to treat myself. And boy, did DriveTime deliver... an experience so uniquely dreadful, it deserves its own special circle in consumer hell. First, let's applaud their sales team. These "masters of the hard sell" possess an uncanny ability to recite information directly from the spec sheet, and that, my friends, is where their knowledge majestically peaks. Asking them anything beyond what's printed is like asking a parrot to perform Shakespeare. My initial adventure into their "certified" pre-owned selection involved a Ford. Now, living in the balmy embrace of Tallahassee, one might expect air conditioning to be a standard feature. Apparently, DriveTime considers it a luxury upgrade, much like functioning brakes or an engine that doesn't sound like a dying walrus. Two glorious days into ownership, my Ford decided that acceleration was merely a suggestion and speed bumps were insurmountable mountains. A three-hour vacation at a real mechanic later, I was informed that even they were perplexed, hinting at the dreaded "engine problem" and helpfully suggesting I consult the actual Ford people. So, back to DriveTime I cheerfully trotted, only to be rewarded with...ANOTHER vehicle with a perfectly suspect engine! Undeterred by my initial brush with vehicular incompetence, I bravely embarked on round two, this time emerging with a Kia. I thought, as the AC blew icy perfection. But wait, what's this sparkling surprise nestled under the passenger seat? Why, it's a delightful mosaic of broken glass! And for an added touch of comfort, they'd even managed to sprinkle some inside the front passenger air vent! One can only assume their pre-sale cleaning ritual involves blindfolding the cleaning crew and arming them with feather dusters. The vehicle history report, naturally, was as silent as a mime convention on the topic of shattered windows. The "pre-vehicle inspection fee" and the "pre-cleaning fee"? Clearly, these are just charming little ways for DriveTime to pad the bill for services that exist solely in their imaginations. Turns out the Kia had a teeny tiny manufacturer's recall. You know, the kind where the entire engine has a possibly of catching a blaze. So, off to the actual Kia dealership I went, and wouldn't you know it, they're replacing the whole engine... for free! Talk about a silver lining in a toxic cloud of automotive incompetence! One has to ponder the sheer audacity of selling a potential inferno on wheels without so much as a "may spontaneously combust" warning label. Nearly three thousand hard-earned dollars later, I was entrusted with not one, but two vehicles that were ultimately one their last legs. Thanks, DriveTime! You've not only soured my return to car ownership but have also provided enough comedic material to last me another decade. My advice? If you get a car from DriveTime, your next stop after driving off the lot needs to be a mechanic or dealership with knowledgeable employees.

Price was very high, but given the market in October 2022 and our need for a second vehicle, we paid it. Engine seized after a few months of driving. Of course, sale is 'As-is' and they ignored my calls. Had a master mechanic look at the motor and give a detailed report. The engine compartment was very clean. I thought this as good, but now see this was not. I noticed when we picked it up that the oil was very clear, recently changed and they they had overfilled it, which was odd. After a few months of driving to and from school and church, etc, the motor seized. My mechanic dropped the oil pan, which was weirdly clean and did not have the correct gasket. You can see the drive shaft clearly through the bottom, the main bearings show extreme heat damage. Someone had obviously driven this truck at high speed with either old oil or very low oil. The fact that the lower oil pan was hastily replaced shows they KNEW this and covered it up. Cleaned the engine up spotless and overfilled with fresh oil hoping we wouldn't notice until the engine quickly failed. These people are crooks. The owner hides behind a Christian identity. apparently is a reformed drug addict or alcoholic, from the social media presence. We are looking at $9k to replace a motor which we don't have. The robbed us at a very bad time, a family of 4 down to one car. If we could sue, we would, but these criminals are well-versed in Florida law. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP, they are criminals. From my mechanic: "First picture, the difference in color of these bolt shows how the connecting rod cap bolts have gotten very hot. Picture #2, look at the bright connecting rod journal that show how this rod is wearing up against the crank. Look at the throws on the crank, the blackening starts at the base of the rod pin on the crank and are emanating down to a visible line. The blackening cause by heat can be seen on the main bearing cap #3 shows the normal color of grey of the connecting rod cap bolt, and the adjacent main crank bearing blocks. Notice how the crank is showing signs of heating up. Finally #4,this is a close up of connecting rod five, the crank throw which separates connecting rod journals, and main bearing cap between cylinder #4&#5. The edge of the crank almost shows signs of melting, certainly possible on a cast crank. Normally the con rod is centered from the crank by the oil passing under the bearing, guess oil starvation at high rpm might have damaged the bearing and disrupted that oil flow. The con rod crashed into the crank throw and wedged. The color difference tells the story. Hope this helps"

I was told to complete the financing paperwork at the local credit union, as they would be closing before the dealership that day. After I drove 500 miles, I arrived to find the deal had changed when the owner removed my state's tax benefits from my trade offer. As the agreement had already been financed, I was hard-pressed to argue now. I told my salesperson to have the car "road trip ready," specifically instructing them to make sure the tires were inflated to the proper levels and to change the oil if needed. Then, I had the car inspected at a nearby dealership (a certified manufacturer dealership) the day before purchase. Due to time (not mileage), the car needed an oil change per the inspection, but this information was intentionally withheld. I was only made aware of the recommendation after I had to contact the inspection team, as an engine light came on 400 miles into my drive home. As such, it was not listed on the buyer's order. When I asked for reimbursement for the overdue oil change, I was denied. The salesperson apologized as the owner refused to oblige. After some failed attempts, I went through the BBB. After some additional back-and-forth, the owner then offered to reimburse half the cost of the oil change in exchange for my removing my negative review on CarFax and signing away my rights to write any further negative reviews on any other platform. I reserved my rights and said I hoped for full reimbursement so I could add something positive to my reviews. He then shut down all communication through the BBB. I have attached a screenshot of his offer on my google review as I could not add it here. He said my CarFax review was "derogatory," but I encourage you to read it for yourself on CarFax.

They let my mother and I drive the car to my dad so he could check it out and then to my mechanic to have it fully checked once we ran the numbers and I decided I wanted it as long as it checked out by my mechanic. The car has a few minor cosmetic issues (small scratches in the paint) that are to be expected. The trunk latch cover had dry rotted (it's plastic and this is a common issue), Michael found us a replacement quickly and offered to have it painted as well for way cheaper than Toyota charges for just the piece. The car came with 4 brand new tires, unfortunately the previous owner had straddled a curb or something causing damage to the interior of the rim--which was causing the tire to bubble. (My mechanic found it after he lifted the car to check the bearings.) Michael and his father took off the price of a new rim and tire so we could replace them. They also gave me a very fair price for my trade. Michael, Ray, and I'm sure the others that work at Auto Showcase are amazing and honest people-- they made buying this car quick and easy...they even stayed late so we could get it all done. I mean, really... - How does one rate such a business other than by these criteria:…read more 1. Did the business have what I wanted? - Yes. 2. Was it worth my while? - Certainly. 3. Would I return? - Certainly - as needed. 4. Would I recommend? - Indubitably. 5. Was the customer service exceptional? - It was. (I put that up there because I get the sneaky suspicion there are a number of regular readers that think I toss out 5-stars liberally). Back story: I'm the sole owner of my 2007 Toyota Prius. Two years after I bought it (Halloween 2009, to be precise), the rear cup-holder assembly snapped off. two of the studded clips broke off, and the other parts that held it in place sheared off as well. Not being a frequenter of the back seat, I pushed its replacement off. Over the years, I looked into how much a new replacement was (OEMs were going for $90 - no ungilded, un "diamond-studded" cupholder for a 2007 Toyota Prius was going to be worth that...) and just never got around to replacing it. Back in 2012 - I remember starting to call up area junk yards but at that point, there hadn't been any Gen 2 Prius's totalled, so I was STILL out of luck. Fast-forward to these past few months. With frequent school trips, the cupholder was just falling off daily - and, well, you need cupholders - so. This morning, I swung by Pick n' Pull - and 'lo, two Gen II Prius's graced their lot (Export section, rows 38 and 46). The Prius in row 46 had seen considerably better days. With all airbags deployed, just getting into the cabin was a challenge - but when I did, some dastardly opportunist made off with the sought-after cupholder. Not to worry, the Gen II in row 38 would surely have what I needed. And it did. Sure, it's the beige color - and I needed the cheapie-cheapie gray one (I'm convinced that the entry-level prius during that period was the grey one - which is mine). I pried it off - and hoofed it back to the cashier. I bought it, a center-console replacement tray, and a replacement shifter knob. All for under $12. So - yeah... - I'm having a purty good day, thank you very much., Customer Service was outstanding to boot.

After I waited about 30 minutes, I left he was standing in the air-conditioned entry area and just totally ignored me. Sem is a lying employee with poor customer service. Pros: you can look up the make of cars on their website to see if they have the same model that you're looking for parts. Generally a wide selection of more modern cars with a good deal of cars on the yard. They allow you to wander around the lot to look at cars without too much hassle. Cons: you have to pay to get in; even if it is a couple dollars which other junkyards that you get to wander around in do not charge you. They are super stringent about the prices and do not flex. The prices are kind of high and it's difficult to get good deals there. Bottom line buy new if you can, but if you can't give them a try.
