I purchased a Smart Fortwo back in early February of this year. Super fast process, from viewing the car, and finishing paperwork, it was under 2 hours to get my used car. After not even a month of driving; I ran into an issue with my ABS and ESP lights turning on, then staying on at random times. They took a look at it and then gave me a loaner car since they'd have to wait to order the part. They kept my car for about 5 days then it was "fixed". Well, after I drove it home and went to work the next day, I tried to leave my work, but my car wouldn't shift into any gears and the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. Carmax offered to tow my car so they could repair it, again... I was also given another loaner while they did testing to diagnose my car. Diagnosis took 4 days. During that 4 days was right when the "pandemic" started. They figured out what was wrong, but sadly it was just under 3 weeks for them to get the parts needed to repair due to shut downs. I'm just glad that they were finally able to get my car fixed and even more thankful that I was able to use a loaner car in the mean time. Although my experience was far from perfect, and I over payed for my car; but because of that over payment I easily saved on thousands of dollars of repairs that were needed just a month after driving away originally. Although my 90 day warranty is running up, I'm confident that if anything else goes wrong Carmax will be more than willing and able to work with me and get things fixed! read more

I will start out saying that I had been to numerous dealerships before visiting Carmax and had been thrown into bait and switch and a lot of anxiety abd pressure to buy. So I walked into Carmax pretty nervous and a not so great outlook on purchasing a car. But let me tell you I was very, very wrong. Carmax was amazing. I worked with Yolo Yolov a bit on the phone before coming in. He fully supported my desire to drive a few different cars to get an idea of what couple I liked the most. He helped me pick a couple and we quickly narrowed it down. He was very knowledgable about the cars and their financing route. Once I was ready to buy, he helped me apply for financing and gave me a few different options. He was very flexible with when I could or when I wanted to come in again. We came down to the end and I decided on a 2014 Ford Escape SE with ecoboost and I couldnt be any happier with my decision, and it was with his help that I am now driving a car I love to work and school everyday. I would reccommend this Carmax to anyone looking into buying a preowned car. They are extremely friendly and there is no unwanted pressure that dealerships give out like candy. BUYER BEWARE!!!! This place is horrible!!!! Bought a car in Oct 2019... Check Engine light has been on 4 times.... of course I take it in and they fix it...first wanna charge me to fix it.. then after arguing with them and explaining that I just bought it and don't feel I should have to pay for it.. they say fine.... then I decide I just am not comfortable driving it anymore... ask them to take it back and let me get something different and they treat me just like any other person and was like you have to get it appraised... so I did... and it's $8000 LESS THAN I OWE!!!!! It's all about the buck!!! I will NEVER do business with them again! And now I'm stuck with an SUV I am not comfortable with and that is probably gonna cost me thousands!!! read more

I've only bought maybe 10-12 cars in my life. This by far was the best experience. We arrived at 7 PM and picked several cars to refine my daughters search. She settled in on one car. The dealer - Tim then found several of these cars and walked through the research on each. We left about 9:30/10 they closed at 9. We agreed to one more car based upon Tim's research and went out the following Thursday at 8 PM. We left around 9:30 again but with a new car. I sat at the Honda dealership next door a year before for 6+ hrs going through only the paperwork. There was no test drives no alternate car evaluations. 6+ hours to meet with sales guy #1 then sales guy #2 to sell us something else with the car, sales guy #3 to sell the extended warranty, sales#4 to sell us the extended warranty. It was nuts. Tim was a down to earth sales rep told it like it was and stood behind what Carmax had to offer. Carmax is clearly in my future for any further car purchases. read more

These guys are taking more profit than expected. I have a good running pickup clean as well as a friends good running suburban. Kelly bluebook have both priced $1500-$2500 based on condition. They will not put these old low priced vehicles on their lot. They will sell them instead to an other dealer through auction. Therefore, if you have a vehicle not newer and in excellent condition which they would want to sell on their lot, they will shortchange you on the price they offer you. I have a clean good shape pick up priced at $2500-$3000, they offered me $500. My friend had a suburban good shape ran great and they offered him the same amount. This place offers shit for older vehicles. If you want to sell your older vehicle for which they cannot sell on their lot, go someplace else! This is crap S the vehicle I worth $1500-$2000 not their stupid $500 offer. read more

I had a positive experience buying a new car here and trading in my old one. The process was straightforward and I felt the price was fair. (You might get a better deal elsewhere if you are good at negotiation, particularly if it is simply a cash transaction with no trade.) The appraisal process was also straightforward and fair. The paperwork process was streamlined and overall no pressure. I wish for a bit better explanation of some of the features and there is a minor problem with the door closing. The "nits" aren't enough for me to recommend against or even having any hesitation to shop here. Overall a positive experience. read more

This is our second vehicle purchase from Kenosha CarMax. It was not as smooth as we expected. Did a vehicle transfer after an on line search from Illinois - transfer took over a week when the car was 2 hrs away. Wanted to drive another high end car they said they had on site. They could not find that car for 24 hours. Also initial sales person who answered the transfer request never met with us. Yet she received 1/2 commission on the car. Final sales person Jim was awesome, felt he deserved entire commission, his follow up was great, was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable - everyone else was just bad. Even after car arrived and I said I would be there Thursday initial sales person did not call me, showed up on Thursday - initial sales person off (never told me) and car was unavailable to even see. I felt like I was begging them to purchase a $35,000 car. read more

We have sold many cars through Carmax over the years in multiple states. First ones were in California in the early 2000s. Very easy experience then as it is now. This location is in Kenosha WI but the same as San Diego and Madison. Place is very clean and bright. If you make an appointment online it makes the experience even smoother as you likely won't have to wait. Check the web site for what you need to bring to save yourself some hassle but it's basically all keys, registration, title and photo ID. They take about 30-45 minutes to check over your car, test ride it and look up its history. Then it's the unveiling. You get your no haggle price. If it's what you want great. Accept get your check and head to your bank. If you don't like it there is no haggling so you are also done. Of the 10 cars/trucks we have traded through several carmaxes, 8 were priced spot on. One we got more than expected and one less. Overall very happy with them. And no hassle of having strangers show up at your house and take your car for a test drive is priceless to me. Now free fancy coffee and drinks perhaps while I wait would make it a 5 star. But 4 is pretty good read more

After wasting 3-4 hours of my time going back and forth with the typical sales nonsense at Boucher Toyota in Racine, I tired of it and walked out. On my way home, I stopped at CarMax to look at the same Sienna I'd previously looked at in Racine. It was the same price as the "best deal" from the other dealer, but this one didn't have body damage or garbage add-ons that I didn't want. 90 minutes later, I was at home with my new car. I bought a brand new Toyota Rav 4 Limited from here and they promised me 5 free services on 5000 miles each and now every time a go for service they turn me back. Appointment or not I am not able to get my car serviced for first time with them yet. Walking into their service center is unnecessary harassment, lady out there was extremely rude. It has been such a waste of my time and money. I seriously believe their 5 free services is just a scam to sell people cars. I will reach out to Toyota with an official complaint. read more

At the appointment he mentioned another car he found, that I might be interested in. The appraisal process was simple and straight forward. They offered me a fair KBB price. A couple of test drives and Kirby helped me find a car that fit me and my price range without the pressure you can get at some dealerships. I just left your store with with my family, walked through your showroom, all the way around your entire outside lot and not one of you greeted me or even acknowledged my presence in your store. I cannot believe it. I thought it was a fluke so we walked back in, and stood by the receptionist and the Toyota Sequoia behind her to make sure there was no way we could be missed. Not a thing. Not a look our way. Not a nod. Not a hello. Nothing. Now, I always loved your no haggle pricing and low pressure sales policy but this was just rude and unacceptable. If I could have gotten one of your sales people to look at me - only one was with a customer - I would have asked for the sales manager. I'm disappointed. I called to have a car put on hold. Instead of calling me after the 24 hours, apparently the manager took the car off hold and sold it to someone else. So when I called (twice) after about 36 hours, I was really disappointed to find out that the car was no longer available. Poor customer service and communication. read more

Bought a car from CarMax, flew from NJ to Wisconsin and executed all the paperwork, paid the down payment. After that everything changed, my most minor requests were denied. I asked to leave keys for the vehicle with dealer until car carrier arrived. I was given every reason why they couldn't help and how it was my problem. I had to stay an extra day to be present to had the keys off to carrier. It cost me $350 in extra travel charges because CarMax would not help their CUSTOMER. First and LAST time I will buy a car from CarMax. I suggest you stay away from this dealer. Once they closed the deal they run away from the customer as fast as they can. Bad business. read more
