Terrible. Before I even get home, there were lights on indicating low pressure in my tire, supposedly after an inspection before I even drive off the lot. Contrasted my sales rep and he did nothing - what does he care, he's already made the sale. Service ppl at Carmax tried to tell me that their next available appointment was 3 weeks out - but refused to extend my ability to return the car in that same timeframe. Initial impression: I'd never dealt with Carmax before, but had it highly recommended by friends and co-workers. Their website is easy to navigate and I was able to find the cars I was interested in without having to leave the comfort of home. Experience: Once I decided on a handful of cars, I contacted a Carmax rep to discuss financing. There were a few misunderstandings over the phone, but the rep we met in-person cleared everything up so we knew exactly what we were looking at. There was zero pressure to buy and no trying to "up-sell" us on anything. Our rep worked hard to get us the financing we wanted at a rate we could afford. Negatives: My only negative is that our rep kept calling me 2-3 times a day in the middle of my work hours, trying to get some paperwork. I imagine we did not get the VERY lowest price we could have if we checked all sources, but what we did get was a way to try all the models we were interested in one place and test drive each one we liked, and a sales consultant who really helped us without pressure. (At CarMax you don't have to deal with the sales pressure in the little office like some dealerships make you endure.) Also, we were able to go on the website and see the same inventory the salesman sees and have cars transported over from other CarMax locations to drive. Our salesman was exceptional and we highly recommend him! He helped us with the purchase of both cars and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful but never pushy. This place is a total scam. They are very unprofessional. Do not come here preapproved and tell them you will be transferring you loan to your credit union as they will make whatever excuse to not sell you the car. The customer relations doesn't even respond to your emails. I am so glad I went to a reputable dealership with my preapproval from my credit union. I was able to complete the transaction In just one hour for a car with only 2,000 miles and significantly nicer and less expensive. I have never bought from CarMax and now I never will. read more

I will never recommend or do business here again. I asked for a Jeep to be transferred from Austin. It took a week. When it arrived I drove 2.5 hours to see it, had to wait 6 hrs after I got there then the salesman would not let me see it because it was getting detailed AFTER saying that it would be ready to go. There was also some hassle about my trade in that was a simple fix. I went to Autonation in Tyler the next day and the whole process took 3 hrs and I drove home with my new Jeep. There was never any apologies from the salesman or CarMax. My husband brought his truck there previously (on Gulf Freeway) and it was great. Went to Carmax on a Saturday of course they were busy. I gave the salesman my keys to appraise my truck, as I searched their inventory. After recieving my appraisel I went to my truck that the appraiser just parked to get some water. It was then I noticed a large dent in the fender and drivers door that wasnt there before. 24 inches long and 3 inches wide. It took over an hour to speak to management about it. It also was not listed on the itemized estimate I recieved. The manager insinuated that I was lying about it. He did write a statement that it happened in their parking lot while being appraised. After taking several days for upper management to contact me, They requested a copy of an appraisel I recieved from a competitor. The same competitor told me the dent Lowered my estimate by 500 to 1000 dollars. Carmax contacted me finally after I traded my truck somewhere else. They stated that because it appraised the same as theirs that it didnt affect the value..That is ridiculous appraisels will be different in different places.. now they won't compensate for damages because I traded it somewhere else.. The salesperson even told me that managment said my truck was even worth less with a new dent...this is horrible customer service...never again will carmax recieve any of my friends or families business. I had just gone through old man Harvey destroying my Hyundai Genesis and was not looking forward to having to deal with a salesperson. I decided I'd handling most of it by email. I submitted my app and received an email, then phone call from Flora Alexander. I sent her my requirements for getting into a car and what I was looking for. She knocked it out of the park! She didn't call me back with "oh they need this, or I'm sorry you will have to settle for that". Brought my car in for an appraisal, they completely lowballed me. I went to a dealership right after and was offered $1400 more. I'm glad I didn't mention the offer carmax made because they probably would have offered less. these idiots have no clue how to estimate a truck. They came back saying my truck had transmission issues that the RPMs didn't drop when shifting , well asshat like i said, it's got a triple disc billet torque converter and kevlar clutches, crap factor transmissions loose RPMs which is loss in power so I built it to avoid that very thing and these idiots said it shifted like a CVT which confirms the transmission is doing what it was built to do. Then when i left they didn't even close my hood all the way and i had to pull over to close it! The motor has 4k miles on a new built 6.7 cummins. I have paper work. If you want a beast, call me 817-458-6550 16k I have paper work for everything. Only sheep minded people shop here and take their advise. read more

Terrific service from sales staff Matt Z. and repair specialist Gerald. Purchased a 2015 car with competitive price and it was delivered from Louisiana. Delivery was delayed so fee was waived, a reasonable compromise. Car had 2 minor paint issues which were corrected before delivery. After delivery, I found a couple of issues which were corrected with a service visit following delivery. Staff was friendly at each visit, from housekeeping, to service, to cashier, and sales. This Carmax is great. We were provided exceptional customer service by Lewis. He was patient and kind while my husband and I took up a lot of his time, several days. He dropped what he was doing to help us right away. The appraisal process was easy and fast, but I expected a better trade in offer. I believe that after having the clutch replaced and still getting offered about the same amount as before it was replaced and being told the same thing needed to be fixed, when I noticed a difference after it was replaced, made me think that it was not appraised correctly. My previous car is supposed to have a manual feel even though it is an automatic, but I believe that it was misinterpreted. Other than that, I really enjoyed buying a car from Carmax and recommend going to see Lewis for your next vehicle. read more

Worst experience of my life, CARMAX no only low balls me when you sell your cars as I did. My car was in perfect condition just had it detailed they offered me $5000. Below blue book. I had to go over seas on duty. So I though when I returned back they do a better job for a vet. I was really wrong. They did it again, their service plan, I bought though it would take care of me as it says. First 3 months, it breaks down, I call the service department, I call their tow truck. It never comes I call them not once but 3 times. Finally frustrated I call a Toyota dealer to come tow me to nearest dealer. 5 miles away it cost me $109.00, it promises to reimburse you for towing forget it. They did not only not reimburse me for the tow but never reimburse me for the $400.00 plus tax on top of that. For the car repairs. It seems they have so many exclusions it makes the policy worthless. Your better off going with AAA policy or someone other than Toyota as their plan is just as bad, the tow truck driver hit every pot hole in town before we arrived at the over priced dealership, I had a quote before he came he was 4 hours late before he arrived. He over charges me and adds a fuel charge on top of tow bill. So don't buy cars from CARMAX if you have no choice try the new deal offered by ENTERPRISE rental sales rebuy plan for 12 months if your not happy? I be reporting more on my ordeal as we see if anything Toyota does right or not? Toyota's navigation is worthless, it almost caused me several wrecks. It tell me to turn down one way streets in wrong direction. It tell me to turn left when I'm on a highway no exit on the left lane. It tells me to exit on B their no B exit off the freeway ramp. They entire Toyota navigation system is junk should be thrown away buy one from one of those who know how to make a navigation system that works. I hope your take this to heart. Don't trust anything anyone tells you in the car dealers. They as bad or worse than the politician are now days. All they do it make promises but never follow through. I've never purchased from carmax but I have used them to get a competing offer to compare to a trade in at another dealership. They are quick and thorough and have a wide variety of used vehicles if you are in the market. I'd give them a shot before looking to trade in your vehicle. If nothing else you can get a bargaining chip to use at the dealership. read more

After experiencing poor customer service at the North FWY Carmax location, 2 days later we ended up transferring and a vehicle from that location to the location in Cy-Fair. This was our 7th vehicle from Carmax. I will never come back to the north fwy location again. As for Joseph the consultant, he loss our business forever due to his short sightedness and rude demeanor. Brett is the exceptional sales consultant that helped us transfer and purchase this Camry at the Cy Fair location. Brett showed patience when we wanted to look at different cars, allowed us to do test drives lasting longer than 2.5 minutes (unlike Jospeh). Brett has provided excellent service, 5 stars hands down.
