Y'all. We were in the market for a used car and we had a bit of a challenge. My last car was a Subaru Impreza which I loved, but I leased it before my partner and I were serious and he's 6'5". The Impreza was uncomfortable for him as a passenger and impossible for him as a driver. We knew we needed something bigger. We stopped at the Nissan dealer nearby and tried a Rogue. I really liked it, but didn't like the dealer. We decided to stop by Carmax because we knew they'd have a wide selection of SUVs across brands for us to try to see what was comfortable for him. We walked in without an appointment and they assigned someone to us but said it would be a little bit. They told us all the cars have the keys in them (in a little metal box that's locked) and we could get in and out of as many as we wanted while we waited. We tried a few different ones before Will called to tell us he was ready for us. We talked him through our situation and test drove a Ford Escape Titanium. It was... ok. I had some reservations about how complicated the infotainment system was and I didn't like the windshield wipers (if you're buying you might as well like everything right?) We talked about Rogues after that but didn't test drive that day. We left with a little more info on how to navigate the website and Will's number. We told him we'd be back Friday or Saturday. I reached out on Friday and we got the first appointment on Saturday. I told him which Rogue I was interested in and he had it waiting for us to check out and test drive. I really liked it and thus began the easiest car buying experience of my life. No pressure. No hidden fees. Nothing. We walked in at 9am and I was driving home by 11am. It was fantastic. I really appreciated everyone there but especially Will for his patience and understanding. They even put a bow on it when you pick it up to drive home!

I've never bought a car at CarMax, and I've never sold a car to CarMax. I went there today to get an appraisal on my Toyota, and although the price offered was below my expectations, I was still pretty impressed by the whole experience. I made an appointment on-line and within a few minutes a guy called me, took some vehicle information, and asked if I knew CarMax sold cars too, he was definitely charging down that road pretty hard, until I told him I wasn't looking to buy a car from CarMax, I just wanted their valuation if I wanted to sell them my car. When we arrived at CarMax, we learned that he had passed us off to another sales rep. We wondered if he did that because we said we weren't interested in buying a car too. Who knows? Anyway, we were super impressed with the CarMax facility- its huge and bright and very pleasant. There's a customer lounge seating area, and complimentary coffee and water. It looks like one of the biggest car dealerships you've ever seen, with a big service counter, cars on the sales floor, and dozens of consultation cubicles. We met with a super pleasant young lady who sat with us at a cubicle, asked some questions on the car, took some info off my drivers license and asked for the keys. It took about 45 minutes to get the appraisal, its the number CarMax would pay me today for the car, a number that's good for one week. We got a printout that we'd need to bring back if we decide to accept their offer. I had done a Blue Book valuation before our trip to CarMax, and the low end of the Blue Book range was about $800 over the CarMax offer. But the CarMax offer was hassle free, no going through the misery of dealing with the general public or the pennies on the dollar rip-off you get from a trade-in at a dealership. If you value simplicity and low stress living, you'll probably be pretty happy selling your car here.

I received a much better offer than I was expecting and the entire process was efficient and simple.

The vehicle was delivered with several issues that directly affect both safety and the minimum quality expected from a vehicle in this price range, including severely worn tires, a tire losing air pressure, and a malfunction in the parking assistance system, with a warning light appearing on the dashboard only hours after the purchase. At the time of purchase, I clearly explained that this vehicle would be used for a long-distance trip of approximately 3,000 miles to California, which makes the condition in which the car was delivered even more concerning. When I returned to the dealership in a respectful and polite manner seeking a reasonable solution, I was treated with a complete lack of professionalism. One employee in particular behaved in an arrogant and disrespectful way, even pretending not to understand me when I asked him to personally inspect the issue with me. It is unacceptable for a customer to invest such a significant amount of money into a vehicle and receive a product with evident safety concerns, while also being treated with disrespect instead of honesty, professionalism, and accountability. This type of treatment is not only harmful to customers, but also damaging to the dealership's own reputation and credibility. Businesses that fail to respect and properly support consumers after a sale ultimately lose the trust of the community and create a negative image for future buyers. My intention with this review is simply to warn future customers about the negative experience we had and to reinforce that every customer deserves transparency, respect, and proper support when dealing with issues that arise immediately after purchasing a vehicle.

Terrible way to do business just to put $$ in your pocket while lying to people. I will never do business there again. Rocky told us that anything under $400 and he will fix it for free. When does a Mercedes ever have only $400 to fix them. It costs far more than that and he knew that when he said it. He should be ashamed of himself. Terrible business skills.
