Sold my Porsche Cayman here. This is my 2nd time selling a car to Carmax, having sold a Toyota Prius to them over 10 years ago in Socal. The appraisal process does take about 30min. But after that it is very easy. They show you the offer, and if you accept, it takes about another 30min. So within an hour, you can walk out with a fairly large check. The offer was ok. More than the online vendors like carvana/ vroom/ etc. Probably a few grand less than what I would have got if I sold myself, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of selling a sports car, with all the potential tire kickers/ joy riders, etc. Bonus... I actually got a check engine light on my way to them, and told them about it, and they still bought the car!

Trying carmax for the first time . Was trying to sell my Honda civic . Actually the online rates with carmax was few hundred $ better than caravana or vroom. Once we do the online quote , you can schedule an appointment and take the car to the carmax location , for them to visually inspect your vehicle . After visual inspection, they give you a final appraisal offer : ours was the same price as the online quote . Very very good way to buy and all cars - with carmax .. I was amazed with their office and the number of staffs they had . The only issue I had was - I had an appointment to appraise my car . Had to wait 30-45 mins even though we had appointments scheduled . After appraisal , they gave a quote and we had to bring our original titles from home . We came back in 30 mins but they put us on walk in appointment again which took about 1-1.30 hours ! After waiting for 1.30 hrs they asked us for another document . Ahhh.. hope they can better this process . Like dmv, they should have an employee or receptionist check the docs and not wait unnecessarily for 90 mins ! If the process of selling improves, I'll surely give them 6/5 stars ... still a good experience overall ...

If I could give negative numbers as a rating, I would. Turns out the car I bought was a LEMON!!! The transmission was blown when we drove it off the lot. Obviously, no 180-point inspection was done. Do not ever buy from these car services like CARMAX, ESPECIALLY THE ONE IN EDISON!!! THE GENERAL MANAGER WOULD NOT EVEN RECTIFY THE TRANSACTION. He literally just said, "There's nothing I can do." So, I have a car loan that's going g to b cancelled, and now I can't get a car with it. I have no way to get to work now. I have to scramble for another car and hope I can get it all done with no issues, AGAIN. This place will sell u a lemon if they can make a buck. Please do not waste your time with this location. Maybe another branch is better, but overall, I will never ever ever use a service like this again.

Just as you would expect, a bait and switch. They offer you X online and give Y when you get there. My car is beyond mint. No question. Everything was a spot on match and they offer you less the second you walk in. Stay Away !!!!!!!!! Buyer Beware !!!!!!!! I knew walking in they were going try to screw me, and they didn't disappoint. I've never bought a car here, and I never will, everyone around me in this meat market of a dealership are bitching and complaining and one guy list his mind because they bait and switched him on buying a car, huge scene. Just look at the clientele and the quality of the staff........SMH !!!!

Thank you my brother in Christ.

I read all of the negative reviews on this dealership. My experience was much different. The price…read moreof the car was the price of the car advertised, no hidden costs or fees. No increase. My salesperson was David Chevez. He was pleasant and courteous. I had been there for a while so he even went to WaWa and bought me a sandwich because I was starving. He was, however, unfamiliar with the outside financing process. To explain....I had gotten a preapproval through USAA and he didn't know what to do with that. I had never used USAA for an auto purchase either (always had used whatever financing the dealership had) so I wasn't sure of the process. His finance manager advised I had to call USAA to get the loan and that's what I did. So I think we both learned something that day. We also learned that a check should not be requested but rather electronic transfer of money! Now I have to run back up there with a check. (I don't live close) It was a misunderstanding but again David was not familiar with the process. And I'm not saying that as a negative. I'm saying at a matter of fact. You don't know what you don't know. I never met with the finance manager or another other manager so I can't rate. The woman at the front desk was pleasant and courteous. The car I purchased was in perfect condition. The only hiccup was in the financing process so overall my experience was positive. They are super non haggle so just be aware of that as well. And David....I still want that big red bow! LOL :)

I came here with my friend because their window sign stated, "credit approved". We called them and…read morethey told us that they work with 20 different banks. When we arrived after heavy traffic, one of the staff members assisted us and end up running my friend's credit and then gave us some bs reason. If they didn't want to sell a cheaper car then they should have stated it from the beginning instead of giving us a bs reason. There reason was "Oh you just changed jobs, or you need more money". This is just for a used car that didn't even cost more than $15k. Also, the people that are in charge have a nasty attitude. This is the worse place to buy a car, and I definitely would not recommend coming here. Just go to another car dealership because these people are unfriendly with bad customer service.

I saw the BELOW COMMENT by the purported owner William posted Mar 10, 2025 .It caught my attention…read moreas Bill's picture is shown as the Owner's response, inferring that he is onsite. To my knowledge ,Bill retired and stepped away from GT automotive at least 6 years ago. I've been there a few times after Bill stepped away and more times prior to Bill retiring. Perhaps he is still the owner on paper, none of my business. I believed that the new owners were, Julie and her husband. I did not go to GT to make friends, but high quality work. However, Julie is rough, arrogant and lacks any semblance of HUMILITY and appreciation of customers. I stopped going to GT as the front desk woman "Julie" was consistently rude and dismissive. GT does great work, however, Julie was a terrible "Know It All" . ************* July 17, 2026- UPDATE - Responding to the "Owners" response to my post of July 4, 2026.... As to my standards and expectations, Customer Service is not limited mechanical work, it also includes respect, kindness, being treated with dignity. IMO, the "Owners" response to my comment reflects an unwillingness to accept constructive feedback, the need and desire to try to insult, rather than embrace, hence, reflecting a lack of humility, or ownership, full stop. In possessing a civil litigation background, I ask questions, not intended to put one on the defensive, as it may. Julie's husband (a seasoned mechanic) is kind. I just could not tolerate Julie, who works the front desk, and for the most part answers the phone calls as well. She displayed impatience with my questions. She is the conduit to the mechanics. In any business, the front desk gives the best impression on the appreciation of customers or lack of. Julie should be grateful and thankful that GT Automotive is doing well. This is demonstrated in having a high bar on respect and kindness to all customers. My comment should not be misconstrued as a vendetta as alleged, nor do I consider my comment a "bad review" as further alleged. It is intended to provide an opportunity for Julie to receive and accept the feedback in that this is how she may come across to some. Yelp Guidelines is to rate the "Overall" Experience. It is my first hand experience. Unequivocally, I am not a mechanic, nor is Julie. I had not dealt with Bill on my few last visits, as he'd long ago retired, at least 5 -6 years ago. Once again, GT DOES GREAT WORK. ********************* Business owner information William G. Business Owner Mar 10, 2025

Today is a terrible time and a great time to be a Jeep Wrangler enthusiast. There are a lot of…read morerecalls out on the Jeep Wrangler, which can be a little off putting, but there are great deals out there as well. I should mention that I'm in Upstate New York. To find my perfect Wrangler I was looking everywhere. A national search. And I found one, of all places, in New Jersey, at a Maserati Dealership. I did not plan on traveling to NJ however. I bought this Jeep sight unseen (other than pictures and videos they sent me). My underlying thought was "this is a high end sports car dealership, and they must be used to dealing with very wealthy high end customers with high end size expectations." Turns out I'm none of those things. But that's what I got from this dealership. I was lucky enough to be put in touch with Matthew who walked me through the process of purchasing my 2024 Rubicon X. There were no surprises, extra fees, or hard sell tactics. The service really is high end sports car fantastic at this dealership even if you're buying a Jeep from out of state. On the day it was delivered I expected there might be some dings and scuffs, some sign that this Jeep is used and has nearly 25k miles. However, it looks like new. I highly recommend this dealership and would happily do business with Matthew again.

At the time of sale, I received just one key. I understand that its a used car and one key is…read moresometimes all that you have and its not a law to provide a second key. However, being told this after the purchase was unproffessional. I would have negotiated the cost of the key into the price but was not allowed the opportunity. Upon returning home, I noticed the vehicle had wheel locks but no key. I was told by your team that the mechanic had misplaced it and a new set of locks was shipped. Unfortunately, the key did not match, and I had to grind the locks off myself using a Dremel in my driveway -- something that should not have happened with a vehicle sold by a reputable dealership. Just three days after purchase I discovered a fluid leak in my driveway. A nearby Jeep dealership initially replaced the oil pan nut, but the issue persisted. Further inspection revealed: Oil leaking from the timing cover A leaking water pump Required replacement of the water pump and oil cooler, and resealing of the timing cover. I was told this vehicle had undergone a complete inspection prior to sale. Given these issues and the wheel lock oversight, I question whether a thorough inspection was ever performed. Car was in the shop for 7 days. When my temporary tags were nearing expiration, I reached out to multiple people to ask about the status of my permanent plates. I was then told the paperwork hadn't even been sent in yet. When I asked about extending the temp tags, I was told that wasn't possible and was advised to "just drive the car" and, if I got pulled over, the dealership would pay the fine. In Pennsylvania, that could result in the car being impounded and points on my license. I later confirmed with the NJ Department of Transportation that an extension could indeed be provided, and they recommended that I file a formal complaint with the state. I called Nj Dept of Transportation and they told me there is no reason why an extension couldnt be given. They also told me to report the dealership to the state regarding that as well as being told they would pay the fines and why this whole thing is taking so long. They found it very concerning. As of today, October 8 -- 35 days after purchase -- I still don't have the permanent plates, and the car remains undrivable. I've now been unable to use the vehicle for 16 of those 35 days.
