So, this literally was going to start off as a amazing review, BUT! That has changed! I was referred by a few friends to deal with Carmax, they have great warranty's, the prices are great, ya ya ya. I was in the market to purchase my 2nd Range Rover. I currently had/have a sport, and wanted to try out the Velar. Better on gas, smaller, cute, you know! I found a burgundy 2018 Velar S. Was nicely loaded, sexy, rode amazing...good price(not great), around 24k miles...about $51k. Cool...so I drove in from Charleston one day, drove the car...enjoyed it. Completed the application process online, downpayment, ect ect, drove back to Columbia to take delivery! After all the paperwork was completed, I was escorted to the car where they had a huge Yellow Bow on it! Talk about make me feel good. Shortly after I found a few issues with the truck; warped leather dashboard, both headlights had cracks in them, 1 cracked taillight, missing cover for the trunk part of the truck, one key was broken, and I questioned the delay for the backup camera. A large black guy came out after I showed the young lady who did my finance paperwork the complaints I had about the car......Oh, Mr Brown, just bring it back in and we will take care of all those things! NP!! Sir, I am in the process of moving to San Francisco CA, and I want to insure that I will NOT have an issue wit this once I arrive? Can I not get the work done before I leave? No, I'm pulling out in 3 days, which is the main reason I'm purchasing a newer truck. Don't worry about it Mr. Brown! Just have them contact us and we will approve it! I contacted the Carmax in Pleasanton, CA, escalated it to one of the managers...he would have to contact the Carmax in Columbia, NO PROBLEM! Now all of a sudden no one knows anything about anything! NOTHING! After going around in a few circles....there is NOTHING THEY CAN DO! Yes, it was my responsibility to get this in writing, but I also just assumed that they would have also written it down, or at least recalled it! And would have done the repairs. This review is written a year later because, I just got an anniversary email for my truck! LOL...which now only have 12k miles more than when I purchased it, just got my first oil change...and those things that needed repaired....still need repaired! My hopes are, are that someone from Carmax will read this, hold this location accountable, and represent Carmax for what it stands for. When that happens, I'll add to this review, and tell everyone they made it right. But as for now!! GET EVERYTHING IN INK WHEN IT COMES TO CARMAX!!

I thought I was buying a Tucson but got a Christmas tree instead!

STAY AWAY! STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Bought a car on Saturday, so that I could get to work on Monday. Sunday it lit up like a Christmas tree with warning lights. So had to go back the next morning and they replaced the battery. Christmas lights back on in 1/2 hour. Now I think I work mornings at CARMAX!

So disappointed. I haven't even had my car for 30 days and its been a rollercoaster of bs since the first week I bought it. I have to get a part replaced that should've been taken care of before selling this car to anyone. Getting a hold of anyone by phone is such a hassle. I should've known by the way the car looked when I test drove it. They don't bother to clean anything. They do the bare minimum.

When had the car sold? Did the paperwork as quick and easy as can be. Got a great deal. Have nothing bad to say.

Service is horrible at the Columba's store if you're gonna buy from CarMax I suggest that you have your car sent somewhere else

They were fair and easy to work with, and when other dealerships wouldn't honor their word on an offer, JTs AutoLand was able to deliver and gain a happy customer. Sold my leased Lexus to the dealership for the offered KBB instant cash price. Everything checked out and they were happy to do business. I was able to get in and out pretty quick and they were super friendly, even though I wasn't purchasing anything on the lot. Would definitely recommend these guys and would be back to do business again!

We visited JT Autoland after seeing a car listed online for $17,900. It seemed like a good deal, so…read morewe stopped by to check it out. But once we arrived, the truth came out fast. They tried to add an $799 GPS fee and another $799 tracking device fee -- two unnecessary add-ons totaling nearly $1,600. These charges were never disclosed online on the posting itself. We expected normal costs like doc and tag fees, but these were clearly inflated and misleading. Even worse, because we were paying cash, they told us we'd have to pay an additional $1,000 (which made the price 18,990 before any fees or taxes). That was shocking. Why penalize someone for not financing? If anything, a cash buyer should be getting a discount -- not a surcharge. We've bought many cars from many bigger and better dealerships and never had to pay GPS/Tracking fees. Even before talking numbers, we went on a test drive. When going on a test drive, the sales rep didn't even scan or check our drivers license before letting us test drive the vehicle, which I'm assuming isn't their policy. After seeing how they operated, we were ready to walk away and had already made it clear we were done with the deal. As we were leaving, the salesperson came back with a new offer. We responded with a final counteroffer -- just $700 less than what they proposed -- and that's when everything blew up. Out of nowhere, the sales manager with a lazy eye stormed over and aggressively yelled at us to leave the store. He shouted and screamed at us for even offering $700 less and acted like a troublesome individual It was a deeply unprofessional and shocking outburst. We never raised our voices, never disrespected anyone -- we simply made a standard counteroffer and were already in our car trying to leave before the salesman came out in the first place. Wanting to give them a chance to explain, we spoke with the General Manager over the phone. Who did apologize and asked us to consider coming back. When asked what can we do to resolve this issue over the phone he stated that "we are really busy and like taking care of business in person," there was not a single costumer sitting down in that dealership when we were there. When we asked for the name of the manager who yelled at us, the GM refused to provide it and stated that they could not do that coldly ended the conversation by hanging up the phone. After the whole situation, we checked Yelp -- and of course, this dealerships has a 2.4-star rating. Now it all makes sense. Multiple reviews describe the exact same rude behavior, and a lack of transparency. This dealership lures people in with low online prices, then loads on undisclosed fees, especially if you're paying cash. And if you push back to slightly negotiate? Prepare to be insulted. Never ever have we had a dealership disrespect us and we have bought from many bigger and higher named dealerships before. We left feeling disrespected and misled. There are plenty of honest dealerships out there. This isn't one of them.
