I've been a loyal Ford customer for five years with my Ford Fusion Hybrid and have been working with Carman Ford for the past year and a half. Unfortunately, I can no longer trust them for anything beyond basic services like oil changes. In October, I brought my car in for a concerning sound coming from the dashboard. Since they were too busy to perform a full diagnostic, the technician only did a minor check. Fast forward one month, my car overheated while driving on the highway. I took it back to Carman Ford, and they claimed to have run a full diagnostic. They told me I needed to replace the thermostat cap and possibly the water pump, with a repair cost of $1,100. Two days after picking my car up, the check engine light came back on. I had to return it to the dealership, and this time they told me I needed a full engine replacement for $10,000, citing a common Ford manufacturing issue. So, the $1,100 I spent on the initial repair was completely pointless, as the car wasn't fixed at all. I towed my vehicle to a mechanic with over 30 years of experience who completed the repair and stated the $1,100 spent with Carman Ford was pointless as the entire engine had to be removed regardless (which included the piece they "fixed") I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and competence. I will not be returning to Carman Ford for any major repairs and highly recommend seeking service elsewhere if you value your time and money. read more

Bought my truck at this dealership in 2016, Brand New F-150. Fast forward a few years later and I am dropping my car off this past week for regular service. I keep my car very up to date and have had little to no issues and with it being at 80k miles I wanted to Carmen ford where I purchased the vehicle, thinking they would take the best care of it. At Carmen Ford I was greeted by a man who loosely informed me that I'm getting the works package. I let him know that I've heard a screeching noise recently and it may be the belt if they could also take a look. He quickly informs me that they will not look or try to fix anything unless we give them the $170 "to search". I said I'd wait and to only fix it if it's obvious. Don't go out of your way but hopefully it's something you guys see and can do for me. He made it seem like it shouldn't be a problem and they will just replace the belt if it's obviously worn down. The next day, first thing in the morning my car is ready. It seemed quite fast and I asked what was all done. He informed me that my oil and tires have been rotated (The most expensive oil change and tire rotation I've seen). Quickly realizing that unless I pay 170 they are not even going to look at my car. So I give the green light, and say please fix the screeching sound I believe it's just the belt from my research and he also mentions spark plugs needing replaced. I give them the go ahead. I receive a call the next day and my car is ready. $1,180 for tire rotation, spark plugs, and putting a clamp on something to stop the rattling noise. The man working the front desk was very avoidant and I had to ask him to explain what I am paying for. He had NO intention. Nearly 900 of this is labor cost. FOR WHAT? On top of this, my electronics in my vehicle have not been the same since. Black screens, and tire pressure alarms changing daily. read more

Upon hearing a noise while braking after the brakes were fixed, they expedited for me an earlier appointment and diagnosed my car without charge. That perhaps just might be what they're supposed to do, but I felt that they were thorough and showed genuine care and concern. Another key reason for my rating is due to our shuttle driver, Russ. He is not only a pleasant and engaging person but he seems very socially keen as he was able to interact with several different people just like he had things in common with all of them. Haha I wonder if I want my car to have an issue just so I can drop it off and shoot the breeze with Russ as he takes me to and from work. In all seriousness aside from perhaps high prices, which at least to me didn't seem out of the ordinary for a dealership, I feel their service and professionalism has been very good. I know others based on the reviews have not had that experience and certainly not undermining them. Where to start. Brought my suv to Carman which came highly recommended, it had a good bit of damage to the passenger side. Mostly suspension and mechanical work. Insurance reached out to get to work on the estimate and the lady at the front desk gave him the wrong email. Someone in a whole different department, so the first two days was a loss until I had to reach out and get the right info for them. Now it comes to actually fixing the suv, let me tell you I wish I brought it somewhere else. As to getting Buck the service advisor on the phone or to answer an email with in a certain time frame forget it. They claim to be short staffed. We'll with all the work coming back I wonder why, (get to more on that), then when I call the front desk to try and get a straight answer Buck leaves early a lot and doesn't seem to be in office at all on Fridays, now when it came time to fix it wow!! I get that it's an insurance job you use what the price out or pay. Mine you it's a 2022. Well they they were done with the suv the Knee they put on had a bad bearing and was SO LOUD noticed it as soon as I drove it. The wheel alignment was off. I don't think they even test drive them. Had a massive chip in a brand new fender that was just painted. Also never even replace the bottom of the bumper not sure how that even got missed right in the accident area. So it goes back a week later. Goes in a day early Incase they could sneak it in, well Friday at 2pm I call Buck no answer no surprise. Called the office at 4 to check on it and they lady that the front desk had no idea it was there mind you she took it in the day before and Buck told her about it. She told me I have to wait till Monday to find out what's wrong. Like huh you have had it all day and never looked at it?? Ohh idk you have to wait. She got really defensive and was super rude and doesn't know what she's doing at all. Manger called and when I tried to get answer from him he told me "well we didn't reck the car" what kinda answer is that! Round two of them fixing it and putting a new replacement knee. I picked it up the second time. Drove it 2 miles to my house noise still there. So the next day I take the tire off myself and to my surprise. My AXEL NUT. Was not even tight in the car it was a quarter turn from falling off. BOLTS AND NUTS are stripped and need to be replaced. Service manager came to my house to take pictures of it and that was all I ever heard of it. Cost of repairs was over 8k. If you want your vehicle fixed right and safe stay far away from Carman. I now have to take it to another shop to get a the noise fixed that was never there before. Final update. They finally fix it after no one else would touch it because Carman did so much work to it. Had to get the back wheel bearing replaced after Jake told me there was no issues with it I was hearing the motor noise and to take it to the dealer. In short save your time and money go elsewhere. This is a review of their collision center: Back on November 17, 2021 I was in my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee when I was rear ended up in New Jersey while visiting family and was not drivable. My insurance (Geico) allowed to to have my car towed to Delaware, recommending Carman Collision because they were a Geico Auto-Express shop. Nothing was done with my car until December 10 with an expected completion date of December 31st. On December 28th my completion date was updated via text message to January 18th without explanation. Basically, when I was called I was told that it was a combination of supply chain issues and their shop being backed up. I got it, and was relatively understanding. Its just the sign of the times. They covered two weeks of my rental because of the delays they were causing me. I called the morning of January 18th to see if my car was done and was told that they'd have to call me back. When I hadn't heard from them by about 4pm I called again and was told that "we found additional damage to your car. We've had a lot of turnover here in the last month or so, and nobody ordered the parts for it or notified your insurance company." At that point I started dealing with my Geico agent. He fought for them to put me in a rental which lasted about a week. They called me to come in and get a loaner so they didnt have to pay for a rental and that they had a Ford Explorer for me. When I arrived the actually had a Lincoln MKC. I signed all of the paperwork for it, and saw a big note that said "NO SMOKING OR PETS PERMITTED IN THE VEHICLE." When I got in the car it was filthy and reeked of cigarette smoke. I went back in and told them I needed them to look at the car because I wasnt getting gigged for it. I got the run around asking me if they could put it through detail etc. and I just didnt have time. I drove the car for the weekend, dealt with it, and they put me back into a rental the following Monday. Fast forward to the middle of February. They had ordered the wrong wheel for the car to replace the damaged back right wheel and said that they were going to do the alignment with the spare, which was not a big deal and would be fine. They claimed the car was done. Geico, dissatisfied with how Carman had been handling everything, went out to inspect the car and found paint defects that sent it back into the shop. They asked me to come in and test drive it to make sure everything was good so about ten days ago I went out and did just that. The car had a hard pull to the left with the wheel centered. I took the manager for a ride (who had claimed to test driven the car) and she noticed it too. So back into the shop it went. They finally called me today to tell me that it was done, and told me that I owed a $1,000, which had been waived and acknowledged by Carman that it was taken care of over two months ago. Geico got that sorted out. I picked the car up, told them they'd never see me again, and scheduled my car for a 23 point inspection etc. at the local Jeep dealership. The car's alignment still isn't right, and Geico has told me that I can get it fixed wherever I like and either they will pay for it or Carman will. I swear, these people could not get anything right. They were completely clueless. read more

My dad's car was in an accident in February and we are now in the ending of May and still had no eta when they will get the part and the car will finally be repaired. As far as service goes, do NOT go here!!! I had the misfortune of having my dealership refer me to this place of get overs. After looking at my bill, BOTH my dealership AND my warranty company informed me that these scammers grossly OVERCHARGED ME for the work that was done! And as if that weren't enough, they also charged me for services that weren't rendered! When I confronted them and spoke to a manager, he falsely claimed that ALL Delaware repair shops impose this arbitrary fee! Yet when I called around I found that NO OTHER REPAIR SHOP did this! Shame on Carman overcharging and scamming their customers! My dealership now says they will completely STOP sending ANY of their clients to these scammers! Carman makes promises that they do NOT uphold. Was sold a brand new Lincoln Nautilus that made it 7 miles before it had to be in the shop for 30 days and could not be fixed due to a wiring harness. Had to fight with Lincoln for 3 months to get a replacement vehicle. Sold the 'Lincoln' extended warranty, that I was told covered everything the manufacture's warranty covered. This is yet another lye. Was told the pick up and drop off service also was extended, this is also a lie. My car has lesson than 36000 miles on it and has had gas shocks just blow out (leaving a stain in the garage that can not be cleaned) has had other minor issues including this time the window washer pump and lines 'dry-rotted' and they can not tell me if it is covered or not. Waited on hold for 20 minutes just to talk to the manage. Manager had no answers and just kept saying "I don't work for Lincoln - I can't help" I asked for the number to the sales manage, first was given the fax number, second time I called I was transferred to a voicemail of a sales person. I getting ready to replace this car and to be sure it will NOT be with CARMAN LINCOLN. read more

Continued to loudly and proudly heckle him in front of those of us in the waiting area and long after he stormed out. You are immature children and should be fired. The service guy actually said "hey man we got cars that been here since June". HOLY COW. They claimed to be overwhelmed but they all seemed to be busy with jokes, gossip and BS and making fun of customers. Foul language abounds here. Steer loosing my truck from ford road side assist I go to pick up my truck and the recall service is not complete. I ask the girl at the desk where is my truck she says I have no idea it's in the lot. Get in my truck there is trash on the seat and ashes on my dash, I don't smoke. After such a great experience with my initial leasing of my Escape, it pains me to give this place one star over the service department but it was well deserved. On my second visit to the service department the sales representitive belittled me, laughed in my face at a special request and even went so far as to say "I am a nice guy, I don't know why you people are like this." In my 31 years never have I felt so diminished and discriminated against. I will not be visiting this location staffed by a belittling, inept service representative again. Worst customer service ever. Took 07 ford fusion in for airbag recall. My airbag light was on they called me and said it was not covered under recall. $140. to diagnose. I said fine go ahead. Picked car up when done drove home. Got in it next day would not start. odo data error comes on with all the lights. Called carman they told me they haven't seen that before and would get back to me. A week later and still have not got a call back from them. Went in and got no answer. Called ford customer care got run around from them also. Car is still sitting in front of house. Honestly I took my car there to get it repaired and had to pay out of pocket which is fine but they had my car for two weeks said they only needed it for four days and then the day that I go to pick my car up is when they hit me with an extra thousand dollar fee mind you I already paid $4000 when initially they said $3000 they wanted 5000$ out of me the whole place is a scam I would not recommend if I could give zero stars I would give zero stars and my car is still messed up .... all that told me was that the initial problem and reasoning for me bringing my car to them cost $1000 because everything else on my car was handled that didn't need to be handled except for the reason I took my car there read more

At the time of purchase the car was cleaned, buffed, and polished to a high gloss. I was given a tour of the service center and body shop with friendly staff throughout. Excellent service!! Prompt. Polite. All I could have wanted and more. My car made it to work just prior to Christmas and then decided not to start. Tried to jump start to no avail. So, had it towed here late in the evening I didn't expect it back until after Christmas. Was I surprised with a phone call the next day saying that it would be ready that Friday around 3 PM. Dominic said he would keep me informed. He did. He called on Friday morning with even better news: the car would be ready at 10 AM Friday. So, I was able to keep my Christmas plans with my grandkids in tact and on time with my own car. Saved me several hundred in rent-a-car charges. Runs like a top. Superb job. read more

I have been dealing with issues with my MKC for over 4 years since I bought it new off the showroom floor. I just leased my third vehicle with Carman Ford LIncoln because they treat me so well. I had a wonderful salesman this time around, Dan Shine who took great care of me and my family. The manager Adam Johnson took care of my lease the last time and he was the reason we went back this time. They check in on you even after the paperwork is signed to make sure you are satisfied and they are always willing to help you with questions you may have afterwords. Do not go here if your car needs body repairs. I got in an accident and Geico suggested that I take my car to Carman. Originally, the repair was estimated to take 3 days and would be ready on Friday March 19th. When I called on the day that it was supposed to be picked up, they told me that it would not be ready until the following day, with no explanation. Then I called the next day, Saturday, and the car still was not ready. No one told me the reason. On Monday, I called again and then at that point they told me there was a delay and it would not be ready until Wednesday. The lack of communication from Carman was extremely stressful, and I had to find ways to transport to and from work. The car was still not completed until today, Saturday March 27th- a full 2 weeks after the estimated completion date. When I picked up my car, the check engine light and power steering light were on and the left turn signal bulb was out. So not only did they keep my car for 2 weeks, but they also returned it to me without it being fully repaired. This was the worst service I have ever had and will not be returning to Carman for any further services. read more

Brought my car in for a engine light, transmission, and seat belt light. they diagnosed it and said I needed the wire for my throttlebody changed. Paid $400 plus. The same day I picked up the car the engine light and transmission light came back on. They re-diagnosed it and told me that the throttlebody itself was bad. Since they did not diagnose it correctly the first time and the Throttlebody was purchased from them they did not charge me for this. They supposedly fixed it but within a day the lights came back on again. I did my own research and found out that most likely it's the computer. I took it back to them and mentioned that it may be the computer. They checked and confirmed it was the computer the whole time. They told me the part number I needed. They told me they would charge $174 to fix it. I read verified with them the part number they gave me. I purchased it online gave it to them. They tried to install it and told me it was the wrong part. I then told the rep to take the actual part number from the part off of the vehicle and found out it was a different number. I provided the part the next day but it took them five days to install the part. (An hour and a half process). They then charged me $291 and tried to blame me for the fact that the 1st part I gave them was wrong. I ended up paying over $700 for a repair that should've been about $300 and they had my vehicle for over two weeks. The rep that was helping me provided horrible customer service. If your car is having any mechanical issues I suggest you go somewhere else. read more

I bought brand new mach e from them with no issues on the sales department end. After 12k miles i needed an update that needed to be done at the dealership to fix the issue. Scheduled appt for monday at 730am for an update...... Monday evening i had to call the service dept to find out the progress, and they said they need it another day for an update...... they wouldnt get a loaner or rental car for me . so tuesday,i got a call from service around 3pm and they said they need the car for another day. they were waiting to hear back from ford to help them. so i told them i need my car back tomorrow whether its fixed or not.... so then i had to call them wednesday and was making sure it was ready for pick up, and they said no and now a check engine light is on and tech recommends not to drive it and they will need it another day. so luckily i had my dads truck to use in the meantime. so i told them im picking it up thursday and im coming there whether its done or not and driving out. i get there around 5pm and they were test driving it to make sure it was ok. Steve from service told me he had a friend that was an engineer and was off today so he was able to talk the tech thru what he had to do..... all for an update. get the car back late thursday and it is covered with greasy hand prints all over the hood, the fenders, the A pillar, the roof and the rear hatch. THere was no temporary floor mat in there either.. and when i was leaving, the lot attendant took a customers f150 that they dropped off and was flying around the parking lot beating it up to park it. They lost my business, ill take it elsewhere if anything goes wrong with it and to buy new vehicle. read more

I sent my girl there for an alignment , oil change and two tires, as if that wasn't enough for them they charged her $37.00 to change a brake light bulb that took less than 3 minutes ! I asked the owner, service manager or someone to contact me about this. After 9 days I spoke to 1 of the sons and got bulls**t story why they charged $37.00 to change a brake light bulb. I failed to mention she was there over 7 HOURS ! I had service done there, bought tires etc. They will NEVER sell me another tire, battery and not so much as a fuse. She did buy a new car from NUCAR ,taking advantage of a woman cost them a sale and yes NEVER did hear back from Larry yet he was more than happy to chat when I was buying from them. I would give this dealership zero stars if it was an option. From the very beginning of the sales process, they have done everything they could to make it a horrible process. I ended up buying the car only because I finally got the price that I wanted to pay, but I've regretted the decision ever since. I've been trying to get my car scheduled for a warranty repair of a seatbelt in my rear seat for over six weeks now. I've been told that they will need to keep the car for two days and that they will provide a loaner vehicle. I work 90 minutes from the dealership so I can only drop my car off on Wednesday evening, which I have communicated to the service department more than once. For the past six weeks, I've had the car scheduled three times for the same service, and it still hasn't been completed. At least I've been smart enough to call before I make the trip after work because they NEVER have a car available for me. Whenever I call the service department, my "advisor" Andrew is rarely ever available, and on the off chance I do get to speak with him, he never follows through with anything nor calls me back. Today was the last straw. I had an appointment for my car scheduled for tomorrow morning, which I scheduled with the service manager, Paul. I called to confirm that there would be a car available and was put through to Andrew. He immediately put me on hold for 15 minutes, at which time I hung up and called back. I then got through to Megan, who put me on hold for an additional 13 minutes. Another woman then picked up the phone at 4:36 and told me that she would have to take a message because Megan had left for the day. I couldn't believe that she had me on hold and then just left! I asked the woman who picked up to ask Andrew to return my call before 5:00 because I had a 90 minute drive to get there. I received a call from Paul at 4:44. I told him that I was calling to confirm that there would be a car available for me tonight and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about, even though I had spoken to him personally a week prior to schedule the appointment (after receiving a rude VM from him) and he told me that he would make a note on my service order and would make sure there was a car available. Long story, but the short story is this: avoid this dealership at all costs! They have the absolute WORST customer service that I have ever come across. They don't care one bit for their customers after they sell you a vehicle. I've never been treated with such disregard. I don't know if it is because I'm a woman or if they are jerks to everyone, but after reading some of the other reviews here, I believe it may be the latter. I'm still so livid about this experience and it's so hard to put it into words, but if I can keep just one person from having the same horrible experience that I have, it will make it all worthwhile. read more

I took my Ford Transit van in to have a vibration checked out. They acknowledged that there was an issue and ordered a drive shaft. I went back about a month later to have it replaced. After I left the dealership I noticed that the vibration was still there. When I took it back to have them look at it they told me that the vibration was normal. They refused to fix the vibration issue. I will not be going back there anymore. read more

I dropped my truck off a month ago for transmission problems. my transmission was under warranty. they had to rebuild it,taken 3 wks to do! when i go pick it up, before leaving the parking lot i could tell it clearly wasn't fixed! the funny thing about it is they said they were test driving my truck twice one day to make sure it was running ok! when i picked it up i immediately noticed it wasn't right,so clearly it was never test drivin. this has been my worst experience ever! ill never bring my vehicles to this dealership again. if you didn't buy your vehicle from them i wouldn't use them for anything! service is horrible! read more

Warning.. do not buy a ford transit. unless you own stock in rear brakes. I have 2 transits a 2015 and a 2016 and both have already needed rear brakes. there is a service bulletin on transits rear brakes but I was told neither of my 2 different year and model transits fall under that service bulletin. The front brakes still look a fat as new ones. I have many vans for my business both ford and chevy and we always replace front brakes 1st. and 2nd and 3rd. normally you will change 3 or 4 fronts to every 1 rear brakes. We normally get about 45-50,000 miles on a pair of front brakes. Ford needs to own up to this problem. read more

I would have rated this zero stars but that was not an option. Larry, the owner, and Todd, the Sales Manager, are quite lacking in the service faction. They are both unknowing of situations in which they try to double talk, lie and finally, they hang up for lack of an actual way to assist an unhappy customer. If I conducted myself with my customers as they have with me, I would be on the unemployment line. Service recovery is what sets apart the competition-this dealership's efforts would be best served by taking a class or two, or three, or four. With regard to these two, it is true what they say about car salesman! This dealership is, happily, not the only game in town. read more

I received a solicitation in the mail from this dealership, which already in and of itself is a nuisance and disrespectful in my opinion. However, as I am in the market for a new car I checked it out. They provided a scratch off lottery style ticket and information on sales at the dealership. It said if you have any matching images on the ticket you win the prize shown. I peeled them back to reveal I had "won" $2,500. I read through the fine print and even called the dealership to confirm and the woman that answered said if it said I won something I would need to come in and have it verified. Unfortunately, after arriving at the dealership I found their ad to be a scam to get people in the building. The lottery style ticket, that clearly said "match any 2 images and win the amount shown" was false. Instead, what was not disclosed in the fine print, is that each mailer had an ID number attached to it and the ID number is used to give away the prizes. I find this to be extremely deceiving and a predatory practice. If I had won the $2,500 I would have used it for a down payment at that dealership but will now take my business elsewhere after this disappointing experience. When you think of a car dealership and having to deal with them, you cringe... and Carman Ford is definitely a dealership you would cringe to deal with. The initial sales process was okay, nothing bad. But the financing service and customer service thereafter is god awful. Trying to get ahold of someone to simply cancel your GAP insurance you reluctantly signed up for is like trying to reach the president. They could only fax me paperwork, FAX?!?!?!!? My husband was in the market to buy a new car for work, so we went to multiple dealers (Ford/Honda/Toyota/Acura/Lexus/Mini) to compare prices, extended warranty plans, mpg, as well as space since we are expecting. We ended up dealing with Andre and his "schtick". We did not provide dealers with our phone numbers, because we did not want to be harassed/bothered, but gave our email. He pressured us for a phone number, saying he wouldn't harass us, he wasn't a stalker, so I ended up giving him mine so he would shut up. He blew up my phone with picture text messages of cars that we had looked at in different colors, and then called a day or two later when I did not reply. When I told him we went with another car he got defensive. Additionally, when we were at the dealer, the sales manager came to talk to us to give us the big speech and ended up insulting my husband. My husband said he was looking for something fuel efficient, because he drives over 20,000 miles a year for work, but was also trying to find something comfortable and that had luxury accents. The sales manager asked my husband if he was a tattoo artist, and if thats what he did, because he's sold cars to a lot of tattoo artists and he had the same demeanor as them.....what does that even mean? Because my husband has sleeves? The bottom line is we did not buy from them, and even though I don't like Fords, if I was in the market for one, it wouldn't be from them. read more
