Delaware Tire is the foremost supplier of feet for our cars and trucks. Their's is a reputation built on integrity, quality, and caring. Without a doubt, they are who you should turn to when anything on our vehicles has a "boo-boo". They are the preeminent supplier of tires for fleets, tune-ups (for Newark & Dover Delaware & Salisbury Maryland), and any suspension issues like caster, camber, toe angles. They are experts in CV joints, axles, drive trains, wheel bearings, brakes, etc. For example: I needed a tire for my girl friend's GMC Envoy. They checked it and said the other side was pretty worn so I looked and agreed. They suggested putting the new tires on the rear (and patiently explained the science to do so). Looking at my rear tires, we discovered that they also were worn beyond all hope. I decided to get 4 new tires (at a price I anticipated for just 2). I left while they were in process and shortly got a call from Tom the Newark manager. He asked if I wanted to go through with the purchase given that there were so many issues needing attending to (there's integrity). The list included rear seal motor leakage, front seal leakage, front wheel differential leakage (in both the left side and the rear), driver side front tire CV joint boot ruptured and axel bearing shot, pitman arm and idler arm loose/worn Mounting Brackets, Bushings, Bolts and Nuts, Washers, and Spacers (for proper alignment gaps), and a host of other suspension issues. Immediately listed the issues and sold the vehicle. I am a super satisfied customer of many vehicles. Note: I live in a very hilly area in Landenberg and use 4-wheel in the winter. Never had an issue getting through for decades now with the incredible grip/wear tread of the many sets of tires for the many different vehicles I have owned (and my dear sweet wife when she was here on this planet). I've done business here for many years and was always satisfied. That came to an end when I had an oil change done on my new Kia. It was done wrong (which they admit) and my car ran out of oil on 95 2 days later. The car was towed to Kia but DTC insisted on doing the work which entailed exactly what Kia said. I was without a car 3 days, had to pay $140 diagnostic fee to Kia I got a"sorry, it was our fault ". Apparently my safety and wellbeing is of no concern of theirs... Nice and professional. There's a hole underneath my transmission pan. I went in to the shop a couple times, asking questions and towed my car to the shop trying to get the transmission fixed. Unfortunately that's not a service they provide, but they answered all my questions patiently, and didn't charge a minimum labor rate like some other shop does. read more

I had to order a new tire due to small leak and called them and very easy to order. Once we got a call tire was in we went the next day to have installed. They recommended we have the tires in back moved to the front and they did that putting the new tire on the back. But while doing that they had an issue with a lug nut (they must have put on incorrect) where they moved the new tire on the rear. They had to have lug nut ordered and was supposed to be there in 15 minutes. I question if 15 minutes and he stated it would only be 15 minutes. So we waited and after 30 minutes, he said he was releasing us. Instead of admitting they screwed it up putting it back on, they blamed other things such as tire rotation etc. My son does the work so I knew it was fine. Would have had no issue if they just said hey we messed up. things happen. Went back today and the lug nut was in and another your lady said we owe $5 for the lug nut. Needless to say, we are very disappointed in them and I even elected to order from them even with them being much higher than the competition. $275 for one tire... buyer beware! read more

I so much wanted to be able to write a positive review but when I feel scammed it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So it all begins when I get a new set of tires from an online shop, they came out and installed them. Next I needed a 4 wheel alignment, I couldn't get into Audi until a month later, so I reached out to my local mechanic and asked him who he would recommend. He provided a few shops but said he also recommended DTC in Newark. So I called spoke to them asked the cost ($159) and made an appointment for the next day. I go in talk to the manager and confirm the cost and wait for my car,. The manager says my car is almost ready but they needed to reset the Audi Adaptive cruise control and that would be an extra $125. Really, Audi only cost $179, no extra fees. Had to wait over an hour for oil change and rotation after I was told no wait when I came in. I buy my tires here and take advantage of the free rotation. There was no wait I was told. After an hour and two customers that came in after me out the door, I saw my car had not moved. They forgot about me, so much for no waiting. When I asked, they said someone had the paperwork. 20 minutes later, they had not done the car. The advisor was unaware my car had sat over an hour. They were unapologetic and did nothing to make me want to come back. Not even a sorry or few bucks off the oil change for wasting 2 hours of my time. Going back to the dealer. read more

I went to get a tire patched and spent three hours waiting for them to even get to my car.

I went in to have my tires installed at Delware Tire Center. The technician tried to disable my dash cam and messed it up. They never informed me that they even touched my camera. I contacted the owner/manager (Jay Baxter) and he said that it wasn't their problem. The last video recorded on the camera shows otherwise, but they just don't care. When I first took my tire in, I was thinking, I might need two new tires. The woman at front desk was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. I explained that I travel long trips by car and if repaired, I had to be comfortable that it would be good to go. Luckily, they were able to repair it and saved me a lot! Dave who did the work, took time to show me where spare was (it was hard to find) and assure me it was double patched and would last. Highly recommend! read more

They were very prompt and timely in my much needed oil change and installing my four brand new Uniroyal tires. I like Delaware Tire Center's service. They pinpoint the problem, and take care of the problem with a quickness. I took my Z there about 2 months ago for a leaky rear tire. They fitted the Z with tires which had a higher performance rating, yet cost over $80 dollars cheaper than the tires their competitor wanted to install. I was glad I chose Delaware Tire that day. While you wait There's a television waiting room with coffee, and plenty of updated magazines which makes the wait less painful. The building could be considered small, but oddly enough, its quiet compared to most garages that are twice as large. I generally go to Delaware Tire Center for tire issues, so I can't write about the other services on their menu. I can say that I've never heard any loose complaints about them. So... I likely won't be coming back here. First when I arrived this morning I was completely ignored despite being the only customer there. Not even a "hi please give me a moment." When I tried to get help I was met with attitude. There were two people at the desk completely ignoring my existence. I probably should have just left then and taken my car elsewhere. Then, when I picked my car up one of the hubcap emblems was missing. I just assumed that they forgot to put it back on. They said that my car came in with only 3 emblems, which I knew to be false given that I checked my car over before turning over my keys then again after getting them back. They were also pretty rude about me asking after the missing hubcap saying things like, "well we don't have a reason to steal a hubcap emblem." It's likely that they are just a bit overwhelmed due to the pandemic and all. Not sure if customer service here is always this horrible or if they were just having a bad day. Either way, I wouldn't suggest giving these people your business if you're a Black patron, or do. You may have better luck than I did. I've received similar treatment from other establishments here in Newark, DE so I'm not surprised just disappointed. read more

Not really sure why people are rating this place so high because I did not have a good experience here. Came in with tire problems which they got inspected and found out there was a screw in one of my tires. They said they couldn't fix that and that I had to purchase new tires. I just saw somebody's review on which they had this issue fixed. Not sure why they couldn't fix it for me. On top of that their technician broke my car key chain. Never coming here again! read more

I had a recent very positive experience from Delaware Tire Center. I was traveling down to Delaware to visit my family over Christmas when I ran over construction staples in both right side tires early on Christmas eve. When I called Delaware Tire they informed me that they were closing early and could not help me that day, were very apologetic, and said that they could help me first thing Wednesday morning when they re-opened. I brought my car to them when they opened and told me that only the rear tire had been punctured and that the front tire was not losing air. I was prepared to purchase 2 new tires and they could have told me that both needed to be replaced, however they were honest about my situation and saved me some money. I had purchased my tires through TireRack and I had a road hazard protection policy. The staff at Delaware Tire Center agreed to speak with TireRack on the phone to help me process my road hazard claim so that I did not have to keep the punctured tire for inspection later. They took a few minutes to give all the information that TireRack was requesting over the phone which was probably frustrating on many levels and was something that they did not have to do. In my experience they were kind, caring, transparent, and honest. read more

Very happy with the excellent customer service. My daughter got a flat tire on the road, since we live out of state we had to find a place to get a new tire for her by calling around. My husband spoke with John, who was very nice and helpful. The tire was much cheaper here then other places. My daughter showed up first thing in the morning and had the tire mounted very quickly. Came here with my moms car (99 Monte Carlo z/34) a few months back. First off, we had to make our selves APPARENT. As if we never walked in, we were ignored, waiting for almost 20 minutes for someone to help us. Second, all we needed was a diagnoses of some steering issues and prices on tires. I already knew the Lower control arm was bent, i had replace it myself, but something messed up on MOOG's end, and i wanted the part replaced under the warranty given by Moog and Advanced Auto Parts. So upon getting the car looked at, enter the service advisor SA: "Alright so the driver side control arm is bent" ME "Yes i stated that already" SA: "Alright so the part brand new is going to be $240" ME "And that one is from Moog?" SA: "Yes, and... ME "Whoa, hold on, i just replaced that myself, and only paid 148.99" SA: "Yes well this one is different from the one thats currently on their" ME "Can i see the part number" SA: "Sure..." ME: "Its the same one" SA: "Oh well ill adjust that..." ME: "Well i shouldn't have to pay for a new part, i made it well aware that it is going to be covered under warranty by Advance Auto parts" SA: "oh no this isn't going to be covered, you guys must have run up on a curb" ME: "No, we didn't, and we also talked to the supervisor and they have one waiting for you guys once you bring the old one in" SA: " Oh well we talked to Advanced and they said it wouldn't be covered At this time i walk away and call Advanced Auto's Commercial Desk, and inquire if DTC made and inquiry into the matter.. I was told that they usually don't deal with DTC, no one from DTC has called. ME: "So i just talked to advance, they said they are gonna replace it" SA: "oh, well thats good i guess... Well now on with your tires we can get you the BF Goodrich Advantage T/A's for $149.00/ ea" ME: "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" SA: "Yeah, they have.." Me: Showing him on my phone " THEY ARE $96/ea on tirerack" SA; "we have to have them shipped" ME "the warehouse is in New Castle, do i look stupid?" SA: "Im gonna have to ask you to leave and ill deal with your mom, please get out of my store, i dont have to deal with you and your belligerent additude " He then proceeds to talk to my mom MY MOM: "If you think im gonna talk to you, after my son just proved your are overcharging me, think again" Needless to say, we've never been back. read more

They charged us $220 to replace rear rotors and brake pads. 4000 miles later the brakes are squealing and grinding. Closer examination revealed the rotors are not wearing evenly and the pads are not making good contact. We took the vehicle back so they could check it out. Their response was the brakes are wearing correctly and WE took the brakes apart and wiped the grease off the back of the pads. I have never taken the brakes apart. I couldn't even get the rear lug nuts off. When I suggested that the original mechanic did not grease the back of the pads, the reply was "he remembers doing it". This was 4 months ago! I can plainly see through the wheels that the rotors are not wearing correctly. When I suggested the the pads are not pressing evenly on the rotors and you can see this because the top of the rotor is one color and the bottom is another, they say they are two-tone rotors and are supposed to be this way! No service dept I've talked to has heard of this. So either they didn't replace the rotors, they are an inferior product or it was a poor job. In any event, they will not fix this. A year ago I replaced the front rotors and pads and the rotors are flat and show even wear so clearly we are not hard on brakes. Also, they say the front brake calipers are frozen and they can't rotate the wheels. They quoted $500 to fix this. When we got the car back, I jacked it up and could rotate the front wheels. I took the front wheels off and the calipers, rotors and pads were in fine shape. There was absolutely no evidence of the calipers being frozen. When I tried to check the rear brakes, after taking the lug nuts off (with much difficulty), I couldn't get one wheel off without force. So clearly they couldn't have taken this wheel off to check the brakes. It's still obvious the rotors have not worn normally and they refuse to accept this. So the bottom line is this company will cheat you, either to begin with by not doing the work correctly or by denying there is anything wrong. They have told us the front brakes need repair when clearly they do not. I told this story to some friends. They took their car in for service and was told their transmission needed to be flushed urgently. When my friend told them they said the same thing last month and had it done, their reply was "it was a mistake" My opinion is to stay away from this place. read more

I spend hundreds of dollars on tires for performance cars. I had a 2007 BMW 335i and replaced all four tires at Delaware Tire because it was convenient. It was $165 a tire. I had to wait 3 hours. I kept asking what was taking so long. I was told my rims were bent and one was broken. They couldn't fix the problem, so I packed up the tires and went to Sports Tire Car in Wilmington. They straightened my 3 rims an repacked the broken rim in an hour. Six months later one tire I bought from Delaware Tire was split open. I took it in to Delaware Tire and suggested it was a manufacturing flaw. Three hours later I was told it was a road hazard damage. I had to buy a new tire. I took my car back to Sports Car Tires in Wilmington and they replaced the tire and didn't charge me for service time. I checked with Michelin and they said I should have gotten a prorated discount on their tire from Delaware Tire. Don't get suckered by Delaware Tire. read more

Back again for another alignment (different car) and they found a bad tie rod another place missed. It hurts but in a good way!

I brought my tires there to be mounted and balanced. I noticed the balance was slightly off so i brought it back to be corrected. When they were corrected, the balance actually was thrown way off. When i brought this to your peoples attention they said i would have to pay $25 extra each tire to have them done again. They of course blamed the tires as all 4 must be defective and only the ones in stock are perfect. If this was the case, why did the balance get noticeably worse when they were supposedly "corrected"? I tried explaining that the balance was way better the first go around but apparently they did not care. Way to nickle and dime customers to death for shoddy work. *update* - After emailing about my situation, the owner offered to do them again with a road force balance which should be standard IMHO to ensure every customer is done right. Turns out ALL 4 wheels were off according to the tech. One by .75 it was not the tirerack tires as they like to blame , or the magically defective factory rim which is also used as ascapegoat. balance is perfect now. Glad they did it right although it should not have to come to that. After all, when left up to the people at the shop, they wanted an extra $100 to do it right. Now that I was proven correct about the bad job I feel like i am owned an apology for getting a run around. read more

I discovered a screw in my front tire and gave DTC a call to see if they could remove it and repair the tire if it was leaking. Same day service and no charge as there was no leak. Very nice people and have a comfortable seating area. Would definitely recommend their service read more

Had an event to get to by 8pm and they worked extremely fast to patch the tire, remount it, and reset the TPMS. Extremely polite and personable guys! Called to ask about a price. The man who answered didn't identify the name of the business and instead answered "he's on hold on the other line" when he picked up. I told him I didn't know what he meant and asked if I had reached Delaware Tire Center. At this point he refused to answer and demanded my name. I was pretty shocked by this and asked him if they always interrogate callers before identifying what business they were answering for. He basically told me he was busy at that point.
