On March 19, 2022 they contacted me and agreed they were defective and they sent me another pair which arrived after March 19th 2022. Now less than a year later I wrote them that the replacement pair has the same issues - cracked rubber on the uppers, cracked all the way through and no longer water proof. Today March 11, 2023 they told me the boots have a one year warranty. I am within the one year warranty but they do not want to honor the warranty saying the warranty started on my original purchase. I feel the warranty should start when the replacements arrived for the defective original pair. They were very sarcastic and belittling in their correspondence with me. The boots are Frog Toggs and junk. The Godfrey's True Value Hardware store is junk too. Beware as they do not stand by what they sell or the warranties they claim to give. Steve

Not only is it a great small town, locally-owned store filled with all of your hardware and lumber essentials that is staffed by friendly, knowledgeable local staff that lovingly helps take care of their community. It is that but it is so much more to me personally. You see, up until just awhile ago, it was owned by my dad. Now since my dad was the owner and manager of the store and I would work on/off at the place as a teenager, I didn't think I could really review this location without falling into some sort of conflict of interest. Now that my dad has retired (yeah!) and sold the business to new ownership, I think I can now give it a shoutout without any bias involved. I do want to give a quick shout out though to my dad. My dad worked long and hard at this business, building it from the ground up. He put so much of his life at this store, making sure to keep prices affordable, benefit his employees, and be a blessing to the surrounding community. He accomplished that for decades. He raised a family, put his kids through school, and have blessed his kids and his grandchildren immensely because of all that hard work. Each long, stressful day was worth it to my father because he greatly loved his family. I am forever grateful for his sacrifice and dedication to hard work. I love you dad! Ok, but this is not a review of my dad - on to the store! If you find yourself in the Hackensack area, this store has what you need for your cabin, camping trip, or day to day needs. Lots of selection that caters to various hardware and lumber needs including items such as coffee makers and outdoor décor. Items are competitively priced and friendly staff will help you find what you need. A good bonus - these folks live close by, so ask them about good fishing lakes, community events, best parking spaces for We-Fest, etc. They have the insider knowledge! Also, did I mention the free popcorn? When you are up north, you wanted to spend more time lounging and less time driving. A person who shall remain…read morenameless dumped their dirty cleaning water down the toilet (my wife) along with the cleaning rag and plugged the toilet for the guest bathroom right before our guests were due to arrive on Sunday afternoon. I drove to Beartooth True Value shortly before they closed. Brian (the owner) helped us with selecting the right snake (less money). Mike who checked us out (an actual plumber) helped us select all the right parts if we needed to pull the toilet in order clear the plug. Brian gave us his cell number in case we needed to come back for a different snake or additional parts after hours. Repairs were a successful. Service way above and beyond. thank you, thank you, thank you, Brian and Mike!!!

Just recently I had an issue with a sales/promotional item that I felt was not properly discounted based on the promotional information. It was ambiguous but when one drives a number of miles and spends an hour to take advantage of a promotional item it is very disheartening to be refused based on a detail no customer could be expected to understand. After I made my case to Jeff the manager he agreed to honor the price as discounted by the promotion. This to me is a huge incentive to buy local and support friendly and fair businesses such as Ace Hardware in Walker MN. The item was a umbrella stand and it works perfectly.

The guy on the phone was not at all friendly and somewhat dismissive, but yes, they have it. We drive the 20 miles in a rush before they close. The same guy at the paint counter (older, acts like we are bothering him) say they don't have that particular paint. He didn't listen to me well enough on the phone!! Now everything else is closed and we are SOL. Maybe if someone calls, instead of acting like they are stupid, you listen to the details of what they actually need????

I text her what I needed, capitalizing the word PIPE so there's no mistake. When she shows the text to the kid working there, he asks a lot of questions about the length of pipe she wants. She calls me and puts the kid on the phone. I explain I need a 3/8-inch PIPE tap. He seems to understand, but when my friend got to my place, again FIFTY miles away, it was a standard 3/8-16 tap for a bolt, not a PIPE. Big difference! I suspect that this store hires kids to fill shoes at minimum wage, and they don't need to know anything about hardware, just have a nice smile. I'd return it, but I'm not about to drive a hundred miles round-trip for an eight-dollar tap. I'll order one from Amazon, and wait a couple of days. This place isn't worth the hassle and grief to deal with the incompetence. Even Home Depot does a better job. BTW, the new ACE Hardware in McGregor is ON THEIR GAME! The entire bundle was the wrong color, even though the wrapping said Forest Brown. I called the guy we worked with at Home Depot and sent him the picture of what we received. He agreed it was wrong and handled getting it returned to the store. Apparently before the product would be returned, a Fiberon Representative needed to come out and see the problem. One week later, he showed up. Saw the color was wrong (told us incorrectly the product had been discontinued 7 years ago) One more week later the boards and hardware were finally picked up and returned to the Baxter Home Depot. The total we had paid them for this product was 3,279.49. We received a partial refund two weeks later for 1,712.33. We called the store a number of times, at some point we were told they held off a total refund because they thought we were going to reorder. This is late May. We already lost our contractor due to this long delay. We were told we would not receive a full refund until Home Depot was refunded the money from Fiberon. There was no way we were going to pay another large amount of money to order another product from them, then pay interest on a credit card on a refund we should have gotten since they had picked up the product. We decided to just go ahead and finish the old deck since now its full outdoor season and we needed to get things ready and enjoy our space. after several weeks and no additional refund we finally talked to the store manager. They seemed concerned about how this had been handled. Ha guess they thought a refund of 443 should placate us. Today, June 16, the supervisor from Home Depot left a message that the final payment was paid. That was for a whopping 351.00. We have a problem here. They still owe us , 1,223.00!!!!!! We will never ever step foot into another Home Depot store again. What kind of rinky dink kind of place would have such terrible customer service. No apology, no action no nothing except to drag getting us refunded for this long.
