Not only is it a great small town, locally-owned store filled with all of your hardware and lumber essentials that is staffed by friendly, knowledgeable local staff that lovingly helps take care of their community. It is that but it is so much more to me personally. You see, up until just awhile ago, it was owned by my dad. Now since my dad was the owner and manager of the store and I would work on/off at the place as a teenager, I didn't think I could really review this location without falling into some sort of conflict of interest. Now that my dad has retired (yeah!) and sold the business to new ownership, I think I can now give it a shoutout without any bias involved. I do want to give a quick shout out though to my dad. My dad worked long and hard at this business, building it from the ground up. He put so much of his life at this store, making sure to keep prices affordable, benefit his employees, and be a blessing to the surrounding community. He accomplished that for decades. He raised a family, put his kids through school, and have blessed his kids and his grandchildren immensely because of all that hard work. Each long, stressful day was worth it to my father because he greatly loved his family. I am forever grateful for his sacrifice and dedication to hard work. I love you dad! Ok, but this is not a review of my dad - on to the store! If you find yourself in the Hackensack area, this store has what you need for your cabin, camping trip, or day to day needs. Lots of selection that caters to various hardware and lumber needs including items such as coffee makers and outdoor décor. Items are competitively priced and friendly staff will help you find what you need. A good bonus - these folks live close by, so ask them about good fishing lakes, community events, best parking spaces for We-Fest, etc. They have the insider knowledge! Also, did I mention the free popcorn? When you are up north, you wanted to spend more time lounging and less time driving. Hackensack Lumber & Hardware is that one stop shop for all your needed hard goods in the lakes area.

Ace Hardware store on steroids. The Crosslake Ace has it all appliances, outdoor furniture,…read moregrills, etc... it is without a doubt the largest Ace Hardware store I have ever been to. Their selection of Big Green Eggs and accessories is incredible. We always make a stop here when in the Crosslake area and end up leaving with something Big Green Egg related. Super friendly and helpful folks, superb selection on everything they carry, and reasonable prices.

These guys sold me some boots on ebay in Nov of 2022. 4 months later they fell apart, I sent them…read moreback on my nickel. On March 19, 2022 they contacted me and agreed they were defective and they sent me another pair which arrived after March 19th 2022. Now less than a year later I wrote them that the replacement pair has the same issues - cracked rubber on the uppers, cracked all the way through and no longer water proof. Today March 11, 2023 they told me the boots have a one year warranty. I am within the one year warranty but they do not want to honor the warranty saying the warranty started on my original purchase. I feel the warranty should start when the replacements arrived for the defective original pair. They were very sarcastic and belittling in their correspondence with me. The boots are Frog Toggs and junk. The Godfrey's True Value Hardware store is junk too. Beware as they do not stand by what they sell or the warranties they claim to give. Steve

I get the sanitization, but the baskets under the top two are not being cleaned and can you wipe them off please? Made it almost all of the way through the store and could not find something I needed, not a single employee had asked me if I needed help though they walked by, in front of and behind me doin what they were doing. Finally flagged someone down who was cruising by me, asked for something and she took me right to it and was very friendly. I checked out and left, underwhelmed but not overly discouraged. being so small I would have expected them to do more to ensure the customer experience was better due to the competition they have in town - I would not let that experience deter me from returning though....
