The other night my job had me finish up in the south San Jose area. I stopped for gas next door at a 76 station at Bernal Rd & Santa Teresa. I had never been to this Carl's Jr before, but I decided to hit the drive-thru. I ordered a Western Burger and Onion Rings. Total with tax- $12+. How was the food? Just okay....well, could of been better! I was the only customer in drive-thru, and the food is cook to order. The Western Burger tasted okay, but it had a sloppy appearance. It's supposed to look like the menu photo. You make the burger, wrap it up, and carefully place in the bag. Also, the meat wasn't very juicy. It's char-broiled, but it doesn't have that char-broiled taste. BTW, it's probably not a BBQ grill. They put the meat patty on a conveyor belt, and it passes over flames. When it comes out the other side, the meat is cooked and ready. The Onion Rings had a slight burnt taste. They were good and crunchy, but with a burnt after taste. Now why would that be? Possible reasons: - someone ignored the timer, and they cooked too long - dirty fryer oil - old fryer oil Onion Rings are coated with batter. The batter can pick up flavors from the fryer grease. If the grease is old or dirty, the food doesn't taste right. How was the service? It was prompt and friendly. But when you leave the drive-thru, you have to watch out for homeless people wandering in the parking lot. That's a common parking lot with the Taco Bell next door. So overall, the food is okay, but could be better. This Carl's Jr is located near Bernal Rd & Santa Teresa.

This is a western chicken burger... all that's there is a chicken patty and bbq sauce and a very soggy squished bun.

Would not recommend the Carl's Jr. there were homeless and high people walking around the lobby pacing up and down the aisle scaring my children. The food was lukewarm at best. My chicken western burger was nothing more than a soggy bun and bbq sauce. My children did like the drink choices which results in the 1 star.

Large fries

Went through the drive thru about 5pm and ordered the chicken sandwich combo with large fries. When I arrived home, I ate the sandwich which was delicious! But the fries were horrible! They were cold, hard and were definitely not fresh or edible! I called 1 408-225-5300 to speak to the manager but it's a fax number so i contacted the corporate office to tell them about my experience.

Sandwich fries cake

Fast service. Great location. Always get the chocolate cake. Fries were hot and fresh

Unpleasant cleanliness and staff. Even if it is fast food, the food here never looks fresh at the slightest. They really shouldn't be cleaning someones table when they are eating there... Tried the plant based beyond meat burger, pretty decent, hard to tell it's not meat. Many times, there is a language barrier between customers and workers...

This is their current location, but I don't think it's their permanent place of business. Just for the time being. Google maps will take you to a parking lot entrance that's closed, blocked by a chain, so make sure you enter the parking lot on Locust Street. I ordered online, and the wait time was a bit long (20+ minutes) but not terrible. And once you arrive, there's a sign near the parking lot directing you to walk down an alley-like path. No signs at the door, just a dumpster outside. Yup, that's where you pick up. It feels like you're walking through the back door of a restaurant kitchen. Actually when you step inside, it indeed IS the kitchen which doubles as a pickup spot (no seats, no signs, I just showed the guy my order on my phone and he handed me my food packed neatly in a paper bag). I got the perro loco which comes with fries on the side, and an arepa with cheese. I didn't like that customers can't customize items when ordering online for pick up. Also wasn't a fan of the pineapple sauce, though I think that's one of the things they're known for. But the hot dog was still good, generous with the toppings and certainly unique. The sausage was plump and juicy with a mild flavor. The fries were delicious as well, and didn't taste cheap. And the mini arepa with cheese was buttery and had a nice texture. Altogether it made for a filling meal.

The menu is extensive with a mix of options (including a vegetarian burger). I ordered El Apto which came with a beef patty, bacon, shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato...all between a brioche bun. This came with fries and a side of pineapple sauce and apto sauce. I dipped my fries in the apto sauce and it was so good! The pineapple sauce goes well in the burger and also on the fries. The beef patty was perfectly seasoned and so juicy. All the flavors were amazing and tasted so fresh. I loved the crispy bacon and the shredded chicken. The chicken was well flavored and they put an ample amount on top of the burger. Wow! What a great combo. I also tried the maracuya (passion fruit) drink and it was so good! I like that it wasn't too sweet. It's fresh and refreshing. They are pretty busy because it's their opening so there might be a wait but it's totally worth it. There are tables around for you to sit so it's casual. The owner is so nice and you can tell he is very proud of his food. Highly recommend!!

The hostess was very friendly and showed us to our table. We had a table inside, which was an intimate upscale casual area with a bar. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms for a starter. It was so hard to pick one because everything on the menu sounds so good. Alas, I have a small appetite. The mushrooms were very tasty and a nice start to our meal. For entrees, we had the halibut and prime filet with a side of broccolini. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Drinks are on the pricey side- I had a Hero Old Fashioned and the Taylor Made, $20 each. They were nicely crafted, so worth the price. They brought out a Carmel Popcorn Sundae for my husband's birthday and even gave him a birthday card which I thought was a nice touch. Service was slow and steady. We had ample time to enjoy our food without feeling rushed, but never felt like our server forgot about us. We spent about 2 hours for dinner. Probably not a place to go if you're in a hurry. I'm eager to return and try some more of the starters. It's the kind of place I'd love to take out of town guests - high quality fine dining in a casual and relaxed environment.

The restaurant had a nice visual ambience, but also felt casual as there was a lot of chatter, which isn't a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. Our waiter was especially friendly and helped us decide what to order. I really wish I could remember his name, as I'm posting this a bit late, but he was a huge reason why we had a great experience! Here's a quick rating on the food itself: Stuffed mushrooms (3.5/5): This was recommended by the waiter as a favorite among patrons. The mushrooms weren't bad or anything, but for some reason, it gave me combination pizza vibes that I wasn't expecting. It was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to order it again personally. Bone-in ribeye (5/5): an amazing cut that was cooked perfectly. Exactly what you would expect from a good steakhouse. The compound butter was fantastic! Bone-in apricot glazed pork chop (3.5/5): this one may hit different for different folks. The pork was perfectly cooked and juicy, but the apricot glaze was definitely a little too sweet for our palettes. If you're looking for something more savory, I might try something else. But hey, sweet might be your thing too! Caramel popcorn sundae (4.5/5): we got this one complimentary for being our special day, which was a really nice surprise! And it was a full serving! This one was obviously sweet, but surprisingly more subdued than it sounds, which was really nice! Overall, it was truly a memorable night with great food. And though some things didn't quite work for our palettes, I can totally see that it may for others--so that didn't impact my ratings because they were still good--just not for us. That said, the care that we received on our anniversary was what truly made me land on a 5/5 rating. Definitely coming back for future special occasions!
