Carlos and his uncle did a great job with my floors. I ripped out a wall to wall carpet and found old oak floors underneath. The two of them where able to remove all the nails, sand out the scratches, and replace the few broken floor boards, stain the wood, and make my floors look better than new for a fraction of the price. I say better than new because the end job looked great and I prefer the character of a restored floor to that of a new one. It will be slightly different but for me its nicer. I would highly recommend them, especially for older townhouses. read more

We just bought a new house and had a week until we moved in with the desire to get rid of the 30+ year old carpet on the upper level and stairs and refinish the wood underneath. Carlos was able to visit the same week we contacted him to give us an estimate and got started a week later. The price was fair and the work was really well done. He gave us options every step of the way in terms of what to do with moldings, repair work, and staining so nothing was a surprise. The floors look beautiful! read more

Carlos did an amazing job refinishing our wood floors. He and his crew were on time, professional, courteous, reasonably priced and very clean. We are very satisfied and would recommend him to anyone. read more

Carlos is amazing. I had a horrible experience with another flooring company and Carlos came in to fix it. He made my floors look wonderful. He has a very pleasant personality, is thoughtful with his responses and asks question to understand what the homeowner wants in a finished product. He works extremely hard to ensure he does the best job possible. I have seen many tradespeople work on jobs and he's one of the the hardest working people I have met. I would hire him without any hesitation at all and he's one of the best experiences I have had as a homeowner. read more

Carlos is truly the best. He and his crew did an amazing job refinishing our 100 year old wood floors. We were so worried we wouldn't be able to keep them and he assured us we could. He made them look amazing, better than new, and fixed any issues. He also matched the stain to the floors we had to install on our stairs. His team was professional, on time, and his prices are more than fair. Highly recommend! read more

We bought an old brownstone with some very damaged parquet floors. Carlos and his team restored them so beautifully I almost couldn't believe it was the same house. Carlos was on time, had great communication and did a wonderful job! read more

I had a 30x18 red oak hardwood floor installed by a local contractor (NOT Carlos). He had done tile work for me and I judged his work to be excellent. He installed the floor using nails only (no glue) and it looked fine before sanding. I realized after his initial sanding that there was "chatter" throughout the floor. He re-sanded it with very little improvement, but proceeded to apply the water based polyurethane promising it would look better, but it didn't. After waiting a few months, I called CARLOS and told him about my problem. He came to see the floor and immediately said he could repair the damage in 2 days for a reasonable price. A few weeks later, he did an excellent job on my floor. I can tell by how he works that he takes pride in his work and likes what he does. He worked carefully and very cleanly, vacuuming even in places he hadn't'worked in. He covered all doorways and closets and there was no dust whatsover by the time he finished the job. I would highly recommend him for any work involving wood floors! My floor is now beautiful! read more

Carlos was great to work with. He was extremely flexible with timing and did great work. His prices were the most reasonable of any people I spoke with, and he was willing to whitewash my old-school NYC parquet floors--something other entities said they couldn't do. He provided professional cost estimates as well as all other documentation the building needed like the certificate of insurance. He could have been more communicative on how long certain parts of the project would take (like drying time), but was generally great. His email skills aren't the best, so please don't get turned off by that. read more

You truly get what you pay for!!! Excellent service from a friendly team of professionals. Carlos came in to our non-profit and gave me an honest estimate in a few minutes time. From the moment he walked in I could tell he was truly a professional, and not looking to rip me off. We needed to sand and refinish our wood floors desperatley, but seeing as our season opener was only a few weeks away I was skeptical we would get it done in time. Carlos ensured quality and all in a timely manner and we were able to schedule it at a time that worked for me. Another major issue we have dealt with in the past has been sloppy edges by the molding as well as obvious markings from moving the grand pianos around during the refinishing process. We did not need to worry about any of it with Carlos and his team. Our floors look remarkable there is no noticable differences from where the pianos were moved during the refinishing process and I did not need to micromanage the team to get things done right. Carlos Wood Floors is truly a refreshing experience from other companies who promise the same work but fail to deliver. Not only did the team go above and beyond with the floor work they were also immaculate in keeping our chandeliers, furniture and stairways clean and protected throughout the duration of the job. I guaruntee if I had been unhappy with anything they would have gone above and beyond to fix it. Carlos had the most reasonable estimate around and was very honest when I asked him about how best to care for the floor and when I would need to have them in to buff and refinish again. Normally companies insist that you have it done every year or 2 years. Carlos told me 5-6 years should be no problem. I would not hesitate to reccomend Carlos and his team of professionals to anyone they truly do go above and beyond. read more

Carlos did a fantastic job! Very happy with the work, and yes I will recommend him to close friends! Carlos refinished and stained my entire apartment in Murray Hill (kitchen, living room, bedroom). The price was VERY REASONABLE on a square footage basis! He did work himself (along with an assistant) and you could see the pride in the excellent job he did. The color and finish are perfect and he fixed all the 'problem areas' I pointed out to him! Carlos moved my furniture carefully from room to room and covered with plastic during work, all cabinets were totally covered, and he protected the baseboards from stain or damage. He even installed 3 baseboards that had been removed during construction job. Afterwards, he did a good job vacuuming up all the dust. Other companies normally send a salesman to meet you, then you get an entirely different crew doing the work. Don't make that mistake. Use Carlos first! read more

Carlos sanded and screened our Prospect Heights apartment. He did a excellent job. He visited the apartment before hand and gave us a very reasonable quote on the work. He complied with the documents needed by our coop board. He finished on time and the work is first rate. read more

I'd like to recommend Carlos Salazar for his expert floor repair and refinishing. The street level of my brownstone was very beat up after 15 years since installation - wear and tear plus different areas of water damage, including a discolored and warped floor from a tenant's broken A/C. I did my homework, got 4 estimates and chose Carlos because he laid out several options depending on the condition of the floors after a first sanding. It turned out that they just needed sanding and some minor repairs with wood filler but as part of his price, he had offered to replace boards if needed. Because of his expertise, he could come in with a lower price than others who estimated significant repairs and replacement in parts. The floors came out just perfect. He explained his entire process, was very professional and pleasant in his dealings. Really happy with this work. His number is 646-418-0925. read more

No exaggeration ... these are the best floors I've seen. I found Carlos on Brownstoner. I booked him because of his bio. It was thoughtful and intelligent. I hoped for the best and got very lucky! I live in a Historically landmarked Brownstone in Park Slope. It has 1-foot square parquet floors- over 100 years old. A couple of my neighbours had their floors finished. I hated the low quality, sterile-looking results and workmanship. I wanted mine done, too, but didn't want those results. I wanted floors with character. As an experienced and serious DIYer, I decided to do my own floors to save money. I rented several sanders (4); they always broke down. I finally hurt my back trying to lift the (60lb) machine into our car... and had to seek someone reasonably priced to finish. Not only did Carlos do an excellent job... he actually cost much me less (per square foot) than renting the equipment and doing it myself. I had already hand-dyed the floors (I had sanded) before I hired him His work actually made the colour come out better/more even-looking. My floors are stunningly beautiful. More than I could have imagined. Nice man...professional, honest and really thorough. read more

Carlos knew how to do the job, was reliable and the end product was very good. Best of all, he was the most affordable quote I received. I needed some boards replaced on a pine wood floor and wanted them to match. He made a very, very close match. Highly recommend! read more

Carlos sanded, stained and finished our hardwood floors in a pre-war Cobble Hill apartment. He had the most competitive quote and the work including his suggestions and tips were absolutely spot on re the staining. We asked him several other questions around wood maintenance around the place and he was extremely knowledgeable. He and his team were on time and done in time (something we cannot say about a lot of contractors unfortunately) and left the place in great shape. Would highly recommend. read more

All I can say is Carlos works magic on your floors! We thought we would have to tear up our over hundred year old floors. Every other contractor tried to push us in that direction probably to make more money. Carlos came in and said he could make our floors look brand new and he was soooo right! They look awesome and we got to keep the original floors in our limestone home which obviously gives it more value. Working with him was a breath of fresh air. He was honest, clean, and efficient. I thought there would be dust everywhere but the place was clean. Very minimal dust if any. His prices also can't be beat! When I tell friends what I pay they get upset because they say they paid double or triple the amount and work wasn't even half as good as what he did in our home. We had him refinish the floors throughout two floors of our home and it made a huge transformation. If you are looking for someone to repair or replace your floors, you won't regret working with Carlos. I'll recommend him any day of the week! read more

Carlos and his team did a great job for us on our prospect heights, pre-war floor. The floors look great. They were completed on time and on budget. Carlos had very reasonable pricing and was easy to deal with throughout the process. Really excellent work. read more

I contacted Carlos based on all the rave reviews he got here, however, I did not have the same experience. I called him a week ago, he was reluctant to come in person to give an estimate and told me to measure the floors and he will give me the price on the phone, and unless the floors are damaged, the price wont' change. Odd, but ok, I measured a living room, dining room, hallway, and 3 bedrooms, however there were some dark spots in the rooms from a pet problem so when I spoke with Carlos about it, he said he would come by on Wed. But then he texted me that he had an emergency could he come on Thurs? Sure no problem, but when I tried to confirm with him on Thursday he said he was going to be working late and wouldn't be able to come. I was very annoyed because I waited a week on this guy and then he kept cancelling. I guess he doesn't need the business, it is not cool to put people off like that, just say that you are too busy right now. Sorry Carlos, you lose. read more

Was really excited to hire Carlos based on all the great reviews. Called for consult, scheduled for him to come at a specific time; called AM that day to reconfirm and he cancelled on me. Rescheduled for a few days later. He sends his uncle instead - uncle clearly couldn't be bothered - wasn't even in the house for 5 minutes. First he tried to convince me that a heavily damaged portion of floor (like, floorboards completely cracked & broken) could just be sanded, no repair needed, and didn't even bother to take measurements in the room that needed full floor replacement. How can he provide any estimate on floor replacement if he doesn't know how much floor he's replacing? I called Carols 2 days later to ask if estimate was coming - he said yes, Friday. It's been a week. No reply whatsoever. So I've wasted hours of my own time and weeks waiting on this guy and have zero to show for it. I understand if you're busy - fine - just say you can't take any more business right now - but don't waste my time. So frustrated and disappointed. Am sure the folks below who have good reviews got great service from him - but that just means they managed to actually get him in their house. read more

We live in a pre-war coop apartment in Forest Hills. We asked Carlos to remove some old tile, repair and refinish the floor underneath, install new hardwood floor in the kitchen, and refinish the living room and bedroom floors, all on a tight schedule. He and the men who worked with him all did a beautiful job. Carlos was easy to communicate with, had all the paperwork that our building required and coordinated with the other craftspeople working in our apartment. Highly recommended. read more
