I chose AZ PaveScapes because another neighbor recommended them. Their bid was the highest (over $7K) but I thought they would do a good job. This job became more disappointing as it progressed. They were removing the old wall and didn't have a board or ramp to put the wheelbarrow into the dumpster. I provided them with a board. Why would you come to a worksite unprepared? The workers borrowed a brand new wire brush from the pool area without asking and broke it. Instead of telling me they broke it they just put it back in the bucket with my other pool supplies. I found it and pointed it out to Eladio. He replaced it but acted like I was being petty. Don't borrow and break stuff and "hide it" in the bucket. If the workers had told me it was an accident and they would have replaced it that would have been fine but to stick it back in the bucket?? Hmmm. When they were doing the wall, they accidentally dripped concrete onto my cool deck around the pool. They should have placed tarps on the cool deck to protect it, but they didn't. There were approximately 30 places I had to scrub to get the dried concrete off. Eladio came out and looked when the sun was bright. It was difficult to see the concrete splotches at that time, but in the evening you could really see them. They did scrub a couple of the bigger spots but I like my cool deck to be spotless so I ended up spending an hour scrubbing them myself. Then I bought paint and touched up all the areas where I couldn't remove the cement. Eladio was trying to tell me they didn't drip but he wasn't there at night to see the spots. After the wall was completed, they painted. I noticed there were places they missed that had no paint. Like I said it was hard to see in the light but in the evening you could really see them. Again, I painted all the areas they missed on the wall. In addition to the wall I wanted to 1)concrete a 3x6 foot area that had been rocks and 2)place stepping stones around my spa. When prepping the area for the concrete they chipped a piece off of the cool deck. Eladio said they didn't do it. He showed me pictures after the area was prepped, but I looked back and found the ORIGINAL picture before the area was prepped and there was no chip. Once again I fixed the chip and painted the area. The work crew told me they were going to put the materials for the cement job on my cool deck. I asked them if they had a tarp as I didn't want all that mess on the cool deck that I was trying to protect. They didn't have one so I provided one. Between the time they placed the materials and the time they installed the concrete it rained so I was glad I gave them the tarp. Once again, why didn't they have a tarp? About 3 weeks after they installed the concrete I was outside and noticed a chip in the concrete area. The chip was about the size of a quarter to 50 cent piece. The piece that came out of it was lying nearby. I took a picture and sent it to Eladio and he never responded. I consulted a concrete company showing them the picture and they told me that most likely the concrete was not mixed thoroughly and it caused the chip. I can't even believe that a brand new section of concrete has a problem. I believe Eladio didn't respond because "he didn't do it" or he didn't want to fix it. On the stepping stones all the workers did was put concrete under the stones. Some of the rocks around the stepping stones have moved and you can see big globs of concrete. That is not what I had in mind when I thought they were going to set the stones so they were firm on the ground. No one wants to see big blobs of concrete. Another job I will have to tweak. When I pointed out problems,Eladio would make a big sigh. Really? I would have responded "I'll take care of that right away". I feel like I paid a lot of money for this and I should not have to be cleaning up or fixing problems. $7K is a lot of money to me. I expected a better job for that price. There were too many things that needed to be fixed or corrected.

Imagine Architectural Concrete came in, redid all of the surfaces and completed areas the other contractor had not yet started. They applied an acrylic lace that looks terrific, and so far is holding up well. My hats off to these guys for their professionalism and high quality work. I couldn't be more pleased.
