Dr. Pfeffer was recommended to me by a co worker - he is the best and he has inspired me to take better care of my teeth. An appointment with this dentist and his assistant Anna is lots of fun, I am not kidding. He is funny and very competent at the same time. I love that his solutions are simple and effective. My fondest memory is after my first visit years ago, my stomach hurt bc he made me laugh so much and I had never had such a positive experience at the dentist. They are the best, really. read more

Dr. Katz is the most empathetic, reassuring and knowledgeable dentist. I was put in touch with him through a mutual friend when I needed a second opinion on a somewhat emergent root canal which also, for insurance reasons, needed to act quickly on. He was a total mensch and was actually able to get me back in the office in the afternoon same day (after intake appt in the AM) for part 1 of the procedure. His wonderful aid Anna helped in getting me scheduled for part 2 of the procedure five days later right before Thanksgiving. I am now fully healed and relieved that it is done and behind me. He was patient, kind, understanding and reassuring throughout the procedure. I felt extremely well taken care of as a patient. I cannot recommend Dr. Katz highly enough. Thank you to Dr. Katz & Anna! read more

I originally found Dr. Pfeffer through Yelp. The first time I called, I accidentally called after hours. Surprisingly Dr. Pfeffer ended up answering the phone himself! He was enthusiastic and excited to talk to me as a new client. I easily set up an appointment via phone and they sent me an email and phone confirmation. The office was a bit tricky to navigate to, google for some reason lists it as a different address, but if you just give them a ring the receptionist gave extremely clear directions. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by the receptionist. She's extremely friendly, and is honest an open if there is ever any sort of delay or extra wait time (once I went on the day of a snowstorm). The hygienist sat me down and was extremely friendly as well. She treats each patient with care and takes her time, never rushing. Dr. Pfeffer himself is also great (tbh, just everything about this place ). He really gets to know his patients, what they do, where they work - but it's more than small talk. He'll follow up on your life each time you come back. Fun fact - he's a pretty active philanthropist! I've had multiple cleanings here without a problem and a terrific visit each time. I also had a cavity filled, pain-free. I'd highly recommend Dr. Pfeffer and team :) read more

Was recommended to Dr. Pfeffer by my brother who has been going to him for years. He's a great dentist and very personable. I had concerns and questions which he took the time to answer and even go as far as show me what was causing the continuous jaw pain, pointing out how I must grind my teeth at night. Furthermore he remembers the conversation you had on your previous visit and makes it a point to ask about how things are going in relation. His attention to personal detail is plus to his attention to detail once you're in the chair. He is not pushy and is extremely happy, there is no reason not to go to the dentist anymore! Truely a great experience. Oh and he has early morning appointments and Sunday appts. read more

This man is amazing .. I've been seeing him for years. He has a wonderful office receptionist, and a great nurse. I've sent about half dozen of my friends and family there .. the epitome of what a health care provider should be! read more

Do not make an appt. with Dr. Pfeffer if you need more than one visit. Clearly the most disorganized and patient unfriendly office I've ever been to. They don't schedule more than one appt. at a time so if you need subsequent visits...ex. a cavity or filling you may have to wait 6 weeks before you get to see him again. He is constantly booked and constantly either on vacation or observing a holiday. He may be a good dentist but you can't see him...emergency or otherwise. Don't bother. read more

I have severe anxiety issues when it comes to dentists so I do not go regularly. It had been years and I finally just had to suck it up and make an appointment just to see how my poorly neglected teeth were doing. My sister recommended Dr. Pfeffer to me and him and his receptionist, dental hygienist and dental assistant put me right at ease. They are very personable and were very patient with me and explained every procedure which really helped calm down my nerves. I will definitely be going back to Dr. Pfeffer and hopefully my fear of dentists will diminish as time goes on. read more

Best dentist in Manhattan by far! Its a lot of work to find an honest dentist, who doesn't try to pilfer more money from you as you sit in the chair. Excellent professionalism, punctual, and great table side manner. read more

Have been going to dr pfeffer for years. I always had a fear of dentists so when I finally went to him I really needed a lot of work. He is friendly and has a great disposition. He has a very light hand and after every visit I didn't need Tylenol or Advil as with my previous dentist . He's great!!! The office staff, assistants and hygienists are also superb read more

I love Dr. Pfeffer. He is an excellent dentist. He is both kind and professional and makes going to the dentist an easy and pleasant experience. He really takes time to talk with you about what is going on. Love him! read more

Dr. Pfeffer is a joy. He has a calm and gentle manner, and he's also very funny. He will put you at ease. I love going to their office. There is never a wait or a busy waiting room. The receptionist and dental assistants are very kind and will remember you. He never upsells or over charges. I haven't gone to anyone else in 5 years and I don't plan on it1 read more

I booked an appointment over a week in advance, but it didn't matter. After entering the empty waiting room, some woman from the neighborhood walked in with no appointment and was immediately accommodated ahead of me. Over 45 minutes later, I was still sitting in the waiting room for a check-up that I was promised would take less than one hour. Finally, I just left and went back to work... an hour out of my day... having never seen the dentist. Dr Pfeffer seems like a good dentist, but unless you're considered a "preferred" patient, you might want to explore other options in the neighborhood. read more

Dr. Pfeffer is a true professional - he can administer an injection with zero discomfort (its truly amazing) and he always has time for his patients before and after normal work hours. To the lone 1 star reviewer below - I currently have 3 after 5pm appointments scheduled with him for a diagnosed root canal, fillings and a crown, so what you said about not being able to make multiple appointments is simply untrue. I suspect you have diagnosed yourself - not wanting to bother going to the dentist for a check-up - you know what the issues are and you tried to schedule many emergency appointments back to back based on your self-diagnosis - at times that fit into your schedule. That's not how any doctors office works - once he has ascertained the issues he will schedule the appointments asap. He is busy, because he is good, and with a little patience and flexibility he can and will fit you in as he did with me. I once called on a Tuesday morning and he said as long as I didn't mind hanging out in the waiting room - he would see me between appointments when he could as he did not want me to be in pain. And please don't chastise people for observing holidays - would you go into work on Thanksgiving Day? read more

After a couple of bad experiences with this dentist where he rushed me in and out and insisted on multiple x-rays, I persevered. Then he really blew it. I had a general check up and he told me I needed a cleaning. I booked a cleaning a few weeks later, rushed to make my appointment after work and then waited over an hour for anyone to see me. When the hygienist finally saw me she said she didn't have time to clean my teeth (no apologies) but that the dentist wanted to see me. Dr Pfeffer came in and told me I needed X-rays. When I questioned him, since I'd had x-rays only a few weeks prior to this visit, he told me the insurance would cover it and I should just get them anyway. Ummm, scam, anyone? I told him no thanks, I would just like the clean as he suggested and as I requested. He insisted on the x-rays and I really had to fight not to have them done, including physically refusing to put on the x-ray bib. He and the hygienist told me if I wasn't going to have x-rays my teeth 'looked clean' and they pushed my out the door. The insurance scam itself was insulting and the bullying was really confronting and awkward. Having wasted my evening to NOT have my teethed cleaned was also infuriating. I now use a great new dentist who happily did a full clean on my teeth and provided a great check up without x rays. I'm off now to write a review of their wonderful, friendly service and clean, bright office. (Dr Pfeffer's office is dusty, dark and dirty by the way.) read more

Dr. Pfeffer is very personable, answers questions well, and does a thorough job, while managing concerns and pain well. His assistant is also nice. Everything was on time, and I was in and out fast. read more

Carl Pfeffer is a good dentist who provides excellent care. I had an emergency situation where a filling that another dentist in New York put in fell out after less than 3 years. Dr. Pfeffer was able to fit me in at the last minute and fixed my problem right away. His staff is very friendly and on top of it. I think he actually cleaned my teeth instead of having the hygienist do it. read more

Dr. Pfeffer is the best dentist that I've ever had!!! I have been one of his patients for over 10 years and now that I am married my husband is his patient too. Also, I have recommended dozens of co-workers and family to him. If in the future my husband and I were to move to another state we would still come back to New York to be attended by him. He is what every doctor should aspire to be, great person! read more
