We had to use the service of this practice today to let our 20 year old cat pass peacefully. While this was exteremely painful we knew it was the right thing for her. These people are beyond AWESOME! After caring for our fur baby in her failing health these past months we saw a rapid drop off in her condition ... so made a decision Sunday that we needed to have her euthanized as soon as possible. From the time we set up a Monday appt through the whole process we were comforted and helped through the emotional mess we were in. Angel came to the house and from the moment she entered we felt her support and gentleness for ourselves and for Sophie. She took time to talk with us, to learn more about Sophie and her life, and ultimately explained in great detail every step of the way; what she was doing and what Sophie was experiencing as Angel proceeded. Sophie's passing was peaceful and tranquil. These folks in the Denver area are fantastic and the value of the whole experience of letting your pet go in the calm of their home surrounded by familiar things and people can not be overstated. Since learning about Caring Pathways, we have used their services on three separate occasions over several years. The service has evolved since our first interaction and now there is the ability to select products (urns, pawprints, etc.) and services (cremation type or other options) online before the arrival of the Veterinarian. That gave me time to think and consider the options, which gave me comfort and didn't put me in a position to rush when they arrived. Most recently, when the time came to let go of our sweet boy, we contacted Caring Pathways with very short notice, and they were able to make arrangements to visit our home. From the first call, they were empathetic about our situation and exceptionally gracious about getting us an appointment. When Dr. Megan arrived, our pups greeted her as if she was family. She took great care in explaining the process throughout her visit and being gentle along the way. We had time to be with Frankie after he passed and were able to help carry him to the car as we said our final goodbyes. AMAZING! The people with Caring Pathways are phenomenally sensitive and knowledgeable. We meet these folks on some of our worst days. They know this and handle the situation admirably. I've had them out to my house two times. On the initial calls to schedule the appointments, I kept breaking down crying while trying to explain the situation. The person answering was so patient and understanding with me. She also took the time to fully explain the pricing and expectations. (In one case I had a 95 pound dog, and she ensured we had someone else on hand to help get her into the car.) So no surprises at such a difficult time. The people who came to the house, took the time to walk me through the process and explain what to expect ( again no surprises). They also took the time to sit with me and my pets to get to know both of us as well as other household pets. They deliver the cremains to my vet along with a lovely condolence card. It's not inexpensive to have in home pet euthanasia, however if you have the ability to do so, Caring Pathways is worth it. read more

Thank you so much Caring Pathways and Dr Brewster for helping our family to cope through the passing of our cat Missy. We contacted Caring Pathways on a Sunday afternoon and they were able to come out that afternoon to assess our Cat for euthanasia. Our cat Missy, was going downhill pretty fast. She was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney diseases 2 weeks prior, was 13 years old and was not eating or drinking. It was apparent that it was her time to go on and we needed help right away, preferably keeping her home to avoid the stress of a move. Dr Brewster arrived at our home within the alloted time. She was caring and compassionate during the whole process really helping to explain with patience to our family what would happen. We chose a spot in our home where family could surround our cat and make her feel comfortable. The Dr. administered pain medication which gave us time to put Missy at ease and recall memories and get ready to say goodbye. The Dr then gave her the euthanasia medicine and explained how long it would take . I could see that our cat did not experience any pain. We were so thankful to have this last time with her in a comfortable space with a knowledgeable professional. The organization also contracts with a reputable crematory for animals. We chose the urn and services online prior to the Dr's arrival. Just having this service available to us was truly a relief so that we didn't have to worry about what to do next. Once euthanasia was complete we were provided with some grieving materials and the Dr was able to take our Missy from our home and informed she would call us to receive our pets ashes. Our 13 year old, beautiful dog, Misha, decided her time was up and we did not want her to have to endure what she dreaded the most: the vet's office. This morning we had to make the decision to help another one of our fur kids go, this time, it was our 14 year old cat Beasley. He was once the most handsome cat in the history of cats. He was down to less than half of his body weight and still, Dr. Coveyou recognized how stunning he was, skinny body and all. She was so gentle with his tiny, frail body, offering reassurance that when in your heart you knows it is time to let them go, you are doing them a favor. When she said, "Beasley's free", I literally thought my heart would break. These words will haunt me for now, but comfort me in the future. I had to use Caring Pathways to let my sweet baby Portia go. She had cancer, was in pain, declining, and I couldn't keep her alive just for my sake. I called on a Friday evening to inquire about their services. I left a message and they returned my call within 2 hours. The person on the phone was very nice and empathetic. She took my details and explained what to expect in detail and answered my questions with patience. One important thing I wanted to know was if they'd do the euthanasia inside if I opened the windows and kept my family more than 6 feet away with masks on, and she said it depended on the doctor's preference (during the time of COVID precautions) . On Saturday, I called back to schedule the euthanasia for Sunday morning. Once again, the person who answered was very kind and re-explained what to expect. The doctor they scheduled for me was OK with doing it inside my home. I spent the next 24 hours loving my Portia. I got a text on Sunday morning with the doctor's ETA (within 30 mins of appointment time which was explained beforehand). When she arrived, she asked if I had any questions and re-explained the steps to me and my family. I had to sign a couple of papers. She allowed us plenty of time to say goodbye to Portia with every step, starting prior to the first injection, then after when she was in a deep sleep (everyone was able to pet her and say final goodbyes), and then when I was ready, she administered the final injection that stopped Portia's heart. At that time, she took an impression of Portia's paw and left the house to allow me as much time as I needed to say my final goodbye alone with Portia. When I was done, I texted the doctor to come back inside. She brought a basket with a soft blanket to put Portia in, and then took her back to her vehicle to transport Portia to Guardian Pet Aquamation. When Portia's cremains were ready, Caring Pathways notified me and I picked them up from their DTC office. The person in the office to greet me was very kind and empathic, asked me how I was doing, etc. I joined their free Facebook pet loss support group. The grief specialist they have on staff recommended a great pet bereavement therapist to me (Mourning to Light). Overall, I am very happy with Caring Pathways' service, compassion, empathy, patience, and support. The total cost to me was $633, which included the in-home euthanasia ($329), paw print impression ($25), the extra charge for the weekend appointment ($30), private aquamation at Guardian Pet Aquamation for my 10 lb dog including transport and cremains returned ($249). They provided lots of free grief support resources (including info for free virtual support group meetings via Zoom/phone) and a recommendation to an outside pet loss grief counselor (scheduled and paid separately). I will be using Caring Pathways again for my other geriatric dog when the time comes, and would recommend this company to others. read more

I had to make the very difficult decision to put my 18 1/2 year old cat, Mica, to sleep recently. Caring Pathways was wonderful. A friend of mine had used them for her dog and I was there with her for that event; so I already knew they'd be wonderful. Everything in my dealings with the company was professional and sensitive. I was able to fill out paperwork and email it to them since we are still dealing with COVID-19. When Dr. Suzie showed up, she explained how everything would work and even let me "Facetime in" my partner who was up in Wyoming for a serious family issue. I am so thankful that Dr. Suzie was willing to come into our home and just let me open the front door for ventilation while she put Mica to sleep. Mica hated going to the vet and she was so much more comfortable and relaxed at home than she would have been at the vet. It was about $400 for the pre-visit arrangements/paperwork, the euthenasia, the transport and cremation of Mica, getting Mica's remains back at our local vet, and getting a paw print keepsake of Mica. We had done an In home service for one of our other pets years ago and knew this would be the only way we would do it with Ike and any future pet of ours. Caring pathways was recommended to us by a couple of different sources. Each said how good they were but really didn't expand just said that we should use their service. Ike let us know that it was time for him to go this last week so we made the arrangement for them to come in on Saturday. Dr. Steve was the vet that came to help us with this. I can't say enough good things about him. He was caring and gentle with Ike and us as well. Also our other two dogs that knew something was happening. Dr. Steve talked us through everything gently and compassionately.
