I started with Caring for Families (Dr. Whitten) roughly 20 years ago. I have always had the best of experiences when I have an appointment. Both Dr. Whitton and Dr. Truesdale are hands down the Best. They are caring, they listen to their patients, and then gives you the facts of whatever it is that you are experiencing and the treatment and follow up. I have had no issues with getting ahold of the office. The office staff is welcoming and friendly. I have highly recommended them to anyone who is/was looking for a place to go. I lived in Mesa when I started going to Caring for Families, then moved to Laveen where I have been since 2013, and still go. The mileage and extra time it takes to get there is over the top worth it. read more

Went in to see Samantha Hernandez for pain in my knee. Described what happened and how it was feeling, she did a quick physical exam and told me it was not my ACL. Sent me for an xray (nothing found) then recommended a MRI. MRI came back and I completely tore my ACL. I'll never come back here again, there was so sense of urgency with my injury which just prolonged my pain. read more

This office is the absolute worst. 10+ years in and they have not identified why certain things keep happening. And don't get me started on perimenopause care. They will refuse to send refill approvals for medication you need to stay alive to the pharmacy if you owe them any $, money you never received a bill for or you would have paid it. You can never speak to the doctor and when you call all you get is voicemails. Stay far away from this place. There are many great and modern practices out there that will take care of you in the Ahwatukee area. read more

I called them today before i tried to book an appointment, i waited on hold for 10 minutes before closing the phone. Then i booked my appointment on Zocdoc. Right after i booked it, they called me. I didnt see that they called. Allie left a voice message saying to call as soon as i saw the voice message. I called right back as soon as i saw that. I called them back 6 minutes later after they had called me. but waited on hold for 40 MINUTES. Noone picked up. i got a message on my phone saying that they need to know the reason for my visit before i book the appointment. So i have no idea if i can even go to my appointment now. im trying to call back like they asked me to, but noone is answering the phone. read more

Caring For Families - How long i waited on hold - Family Practice Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

I have been going to Caring for Families for a while now. I particularly see Dr. Truesdale, who I HIGHLY recommend. He listens carefully to what I have to say, he's respectful of my opinions but also informs me of facts. He has a caring bedside manner so I don't feel like just a number. The office is very helpful and always makes me comfortable when I have questions . Another huge reason I love this practice is because THEY ARE NOT CORPORATE OWNED. That's very important to me. I wanted to add that when there was something questionable found in my routine blood test, Dr. Truesdale called me personally. I have never, ever had a doctor call me. It's always been the office or a nurse. There's something very comforting in finding a good practice that you can depend on. I very highly recommend! read more

I had one of the best doctor's appointments today at Caring for Families with Jessica Laflin, and it started with the sweetest interaction at reception. As I walked in, the receptionist was giving one-on-one care to a young boy waiting for his appointment, letting him pick out stickers from their special collection for brave kids. She listened as he explained why each one was his favourite and even let him choose a few, not just one. She smiled, got down to his level, and spoke to him in a way that made him feel totally comfortable. It was such a wholesome and much-appreciated moment, even as another patient in the room. It felt so genuine, an everyday act of kindness that says everything about the care and compassion that always radiates from this office and every member of their team. read more

5 stars. I am very happy to have landed here. Dr. Truesdale was recommended by a good friend. The office is run well and everyone I have seen is friendly. Punctual too. read more

Excellent service! Dr. Truesdale is a very professional and caring physician. He takes the time to listen to patients, to explain everything, and his personality and manners are tops! The team is very professional. Jaina Sharma PAC-C is very friendly and helpful. Laura is one of the stars, as is the entire team, from receptionist to assistants. I come from a family of doctors. I know how hard the profession is. Dr Truesdale and his team make it look easy with their dedication and professionalism. I strongly recommend them. Strongly! read more

I see DR Whitten . The office staff is always welcoming and pleasant. I have always been seen on time and Vanessa the MA is an absolute delight. Vanessa is highly professional, yet personable. DR Whitten listens and provides excellent feedback and sound medical care. read more

I switched to Dr. Truesdale/Caring for Families last year as my previous GP Doc retired. The staff and facilities are great. Dr. T. takes the time to understand your concerns and is very thorough in his diagnosis and treatment. So pleased I found this practice. read more

CHRONIC/ INVISIBLE ILLNESSES PLEASE READ DO NOT got to Cynthia Andrews. She is extremely unprofessional and childish. I have EDS, POTS and MCAS. She refused to even acknowledge my diagnoses. I had to see Cynthia because my PCP was out of the office. When I tried to report the issue to my PCP I very clearly stated Cynthia was not to be a part of my care team moving forward. Dr. Whitten took it upon her self to show that message to Cynthia, a week later I received a letter in the mail stating I was being discharged from the practice. Not only did she break confidentiality but also her oath as a doctor. I have been told by numerous people, including drs, to sue for malpractice. She is one of the many reasons the health system is so flawed. You would honestly be better off hiring a two year old... they would probably be more attentive. read more

CFF went from 5 star to 1 in anout a month. I waited on hold for 16 minutes listening to awful music waiting for the front desk to pick up the phone -- so I could ask them if I even have a doctor there any more since Whitten decided to go boutique. I've seen a couple of NP. Now can't even get them to pick up the phone. So, I guess I no longer have a doctor. Pathetic transition, communication, concern for patients. read more

So I have been going to Caring for Families for over 20 years! Dr Andrew's retired and I was worried. However, Dr Penniann Whitten is my new Dr there. She is wonderful! I have met with her in person and she listens to my concerns. I met with her in a Video call today! I just everyone had someone like her. She is one of the best doctors in Ahwatukee! Thank you Dr Whitten. read more

I was not feeling well and attempted to make an appointment. I have been a patient for well over 10 years. I was told by two females that I had a $10 balance on my account and needed to pay it before any appointment. I advised I was in the field for work, without my purse, and would pay when I arrived for appnt. I was met with extreme resistance and told, in a Nutshell, no payment, no appointment. It is clear the office is more interested in money over patients needs and well being. I WILL NOT continue here. The valley has many physician offices who would love my business. read more

This was the best doctor experience I have ever had! From the time I walked in until the time I left, the office was organized, the staff was friendly, and everything ran smoothly. Dr. Whitten took time and listened to my concerns. She did not rush me and she asked questions to fully understand my situation. I really felt like she cared. There is even a lab in office so I was able to have my bloodwork done right on site. I was pleasantly surprised to see there are options offered at the office above and beyond what I think of when I think of a doctors office. For example, I saw they offer weight-loss semaglutide and hormone pellets like testosterone. I definitely found a one-stop office! I highly recommend this office. read more

This used to be a nice office. The Medical Staff turnover has always been high... so never expect to see the same people. However, the customer service is non-existent. Automated appointments now mean nobody ever answers the phone. Sadly, poor customer service has me contemplating a new doctor. read more

Cynthia Andrews is unprofessional and refuses to listen to the concerns of her patients. The other staff are professional and wonderful doctors but do NOT book with Cynthia as you will not be taken seriously. She shouldn't be a doctor. read more

I've been going to Dr. Cynthia Andrews office and her for eight years now in the beginning I absolutely loved her in the office. Over the years it is slowly declined in compassionate care and organizational skills. Recently I experienced a new nurse practitioner named Catherine White who was absolutely insensitive, non-compassionate, and didn't hear anything that I said. I was in a lot of pain when I came to see her and it made a bad experience incredible difficult. Increased my suffering by 150%. I would never recommend this place to anyone anymore for anything period. I have an asked Cynthia Andrews to give me a call so I could discuss it with her and she and her staff have been defensive about their new nurse practitioner in my experience shared with them. I guess this is just one more prime example of how our healthcare has gone down the tubes. Shame on you Cynthia Andrews and your office read more

I made an appointment 3 weeks ago. Received approximately 5 reminder texts including one this morning, the morning of my appointment. Took the day off, came in early- they had my chart ready because I did all the online paperwork- but no appointment was on the schedule for me. I asked how they kept texting me and how I could do the paperwork without them actually making the appointment- but they couldn't explain nor would they see me today. As I said I took the day off and I have no more time off (I'm at a brand new job). Guess I'll be trying someone else. read more

Dr Truesdale was amazing. He is newer to this practice( I have been going here for years) and was so personable , professional , and kind. Healthcare isn't so great these days, but he took time and listened and was so very helpful. I continue to go to this pc office because they seem to always get me in when I am super sick and they did it agin last week. I hesitate to tell you all how great they are because they will start being even busier read more

I have been a patient since I was a kid, I am 34 now. I have to say that things just are not what they use to be. First of all, I don't understand all the hipster front desk and office people. Seriously, every person I encounter before going back to a room is so blah. There is no overwhelming customer service from any of them. The wait times too.. oh wow.. more times than not I am early for my appointment and my doctor is at least 20 minutes late for it. For years this has seemed to me to be a chronic problem. A few times I have strayed from the regular doctor I see in this office and I always end up going back to her, but at this point anymore, I think I will be looking for a new doctors office as this office just doesn't seem to be the right fit for me. If you are looking for friendly, excitable, energetic doctors and staff.. this is not the place for you. read more

Absolutely amazing family practice! Dr. Whitten and Trusedale and wonderful physicians! They are never rushed, always listen carefully and provide treatment better than any family doctor office I have ever been too. The staff is also amazing and super helpful. Dr. Whitten and Truesdale's assistant, Vanessa, ALWAYS returns call the same day I make them and then always follows up with what she says she will do. I have been seeing Dr. Whitten and Dr. Truesdale for years. Never been disappointed to the slightest degree. They are always accurate with their diagnosis and will either treat you or refer you to the best specialist out there. Again, I don't know what I would do without Caring for Famalies! read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. So unprofessional. So rude. They need to hire girls in their front office that know what the fuck they're doing. My mom was dying with covid and they took a WEEK to get back to us. My mother then had to be put in the ICU because they had us waiting so long. I have tried many times to be patient with them and I'm fucking done. My mother is sick again and we have called 4 times because her medication has still not been sent to our pharmacy. All we got was rude women giving us attitude on the phone and sent to voicemail. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Everything is outdated with Caring for Families, from the office decor, to even the medicine they prescribe. If you end up working with Dr. Shaw, be warned.....here is my story. I went to my appointment & two days later I was sent a certified letter in the mail stating that she would no longer be my PCP. I was in the midst of battling breast cancer, also a diabetic & just had a foot surgery. Who does that? No warning, no talk with me to say if you don't start doing this or stop doing that, then I will have to terminate services. Nothing. She never told me why. To me, that is beyond unprofessional & I was about to have my second surgery for breast cancer. read more

Great health care unfortunately the scheduling stuff just sucks. They run late...you wait. You run late... goodbye!

Worst place I have ever had the displeasure dealing with. The billing department say I owe them money, but when I call my insurance company the money was paid. You suck. read more

Back to this practice after 9 years because my previous insurance company doesn't have them in network. This place is so much better than the one I had during the interim. Everything went timely and smoothly. Dr. Whittington took the time to understand my family history and my history for the last 9 years. They have an in-house lab too, and I have to say that was one of the smoothest blood drawn I've had. I was in and out in less than an hour, and that included the lab work. Thank you!!! read more

Dr. Andrews is amazing and very responsive. Thank you for taking me as a new patient! I'm happy I found you!

DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE!! They do not actually care for families. My husband has been seen by this practice for over 2 years. He has pre-existing conditions and contacted them on 12/29 regarding COVID like symptoms. He was told he would not be able to be seen or symptoms addressed until he had a completed COVID test. He took the test the next day, the practitioner told him if he does not hear from them within a day or two he probably does not have COVID. He did not hear from them for a week, he called and spoke with the girl who answered and was told his results were still not back. The were no results posted in his patient portal as well. The whole time he was unable to work because he did not have the results. He tried to call multiple times after that with no response. He was finally able to return to work after a 10 day period without any conclusive results. I finally got ahold of someone in the CFF office this morning. She stated they had his POSITIVE results on 12/31 and it was notated in the chart that the nurse tried to call but could not leave a message. That was the one and only time they tried to communicate. I asked to speak with the office manager who called me later, who then said that the NP wrote in the chart that she left a message but did not notate which number. The problem was when they updated his chart they never removed his old number however that number is out of service and does not allow for messages. The new number was never called, I checked the phone records, no call, and no message. His medical records have been falsified. The practice failed to notify my husband he was positive which kept him from being able to properly contact trace and protect others. This is wholly irresponsible and medical malpractice. Not to mention my husband did not qualify for the relief act without the positive result and lost two weeks of work. The practice owner did call me but refused to see the issue logically and tried to place blame on my husband for their inadequacies and did not accept responsibility for the poor record-keeping, falsifying of medical records, or overall lack of care. DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE, save your family the heartache. They do not care and they do not follow up with their patients, it is a medical mill. read more

I will not return here. The doctor I saw was judgmental and pushed services I didn't need. I guess it is about time for me to write a very positive review for Dr Cynthia Andrews and her staff at Caring for families. She has been my guardian Angel since 1993 that is about 25 years so yes, I think she is great and I feel she has always been extremely and sincerely concerned for my well being. I have had a lot of medical problems over the years including Spinal cord injury, Congestive heart failure with Quad bypass surgery, Lower intestine removal for pre cancer, Gall bladder rupture and surgery, lymphoma stomach cancer, and Type 2 Diabetes. With all these serious problems I wanted a good go to family doctor to point me in the right direction to maintain my health as good as possible. For over twenty-five years she and all her staff have been just that. Lately I have been really concerned she will retire Before I FLY WEST FOR MY FINAL CHECK RIDE. But who knows, at 79 years maybe that won't happen. Thank you DR ANDREWS for always being there for me. Dale Basham read more
