It was my Auntie's birthday party at Natsunoya Tea house and I have to say the main attraction was the caricature drawings done by Frank! Everybody had a blast watching people get there caricatures drawn! What I liked was that he was super fast so there wasn't a long line! I was looking for caricature artists for my daughters 1st birthday and I didn't find Frank until I was looking around through yelp after the original caricature person I contacted wasn't available. When in doubt use Yelp! Thank God I found Caricatures by Frank because he was available for our daughters party when i inquired about availability about four months prior to the event. After reading all his positive reviews on yelp, I also checked out his website to see his services and rates to see if it would be reasonable to hire him. Definitely worth the price and caricature entertainment for guests at your party. He services any type of event you may have that will guarantee put on a show. Get the live drawing screen projection, it makes the interaction with the crowd fill with amusement. Communication with Frank was a breeze, all he required was a $25 deposit to secure the date until the full payment due upon the event. Prices are quite reasonable for the work he presents. Charges $325 for two hours and $100 for each additional hour. If you want the live projection feed, it's an additional $125. It's worth it! He brings a banner of preset body templates for you to choose from and draws your caricature of your head on it. He does it in less than 3 minutes so he can do quite a lot within the hour. Although we had multiple vendors there at the party, he was a huge hit with lines waiting to have heir picture drawn. Frank is very personable and prompt. He arrived early to set up for the event and was eager to serve our guests. His motto is to put on a great show and he did not disappoint at all! What impressed me the most is that I didn't get a chance to get a caricature of my daughter since it was such a hectic night but as he was packing to leave, he still offered to do it for her! My wife and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Frank for parties! We hired Frank for our son's first birthday and Frank was a big hit! Communicating with Frank was super easy, especially since we live on the mainland. We would email him any questions we had and he would respond almost immediately. We sent him our son's invitation so he had information about the party and venue. We were surprised when he responded with a drawing of our son based off the picture on his invitation. We didn't ask for it and he just did it. Super cool! We wanted to have the projector screen, which guests can watch while he draws, but the space for him was too small, so he quickly adapted and we decided not to use the screen and he didn't charge us for it. His setup was quick and easy and he was up and ready to start drawing! The quality and creativity of his drawings are amazing! Quick and on point! Our guest were really impressed. Uncle Frank came to the rescue last Saturday for my baby's 1st birthday luau! A little background...I'm originally from the mainland where a first birthday party is like cake and family over. NOT in Hawaii :-) Apparently we should have been planning the party before Brooklyn was even born (along with applying for preschools...but that's another story!). So less than a month before the party, I emailed him to see if he was available. My begging and pretty pretty pleases worked! He took pity on me and squeezed us in. I also choose Frank because of his brilliant method of coming prepared...he has over 60 caricatures to choose from and the bodies are already completed. Frank was FAST and awesome! When you have close to 100 guests and only 3 hours, you get the most bang for your buck with Uncle Frank. Your guests just pick which one they want (remembering the number was the hardest part), let him know and sit still for only 2-3 minutes. My 1 year old baby could do it, but even more amazing was that my full of energy, slightly ADHD realtor mom sat still long enough for a hilarious caricature before she bounded off to greet more guests. He also handed out sheet protectors so they didn't get covered in cake. We received a lot of positive comments from our guests. The price was right at under $500. I was so happy with him that I added a small tip when I paid him. I got a very nice email back that evening where he thanked me with humility, enjoyed the party, and seemed genuinely surprised and grateful that I did tip him. Great artist and overall great guy. FANTASTIC! We hired Frank for our community event at the Hawaiian Railway Society this past Saturday July 11th! We had over 120 ppl at our event. Everyone from children to gramma's were so excited to get their caricature done! Frank is patient funny and really quick! He showed up to my sons party early to set up, and was on time to start drawing for our guest's. He was a hit! If you decide to hire frank, make sure you also get a projector to display the images for all your guest's to see (he can provide a projector, just inquire with him). It was cute to see all the kids getting their caricature drawings on the projector, especially when you're running around trying to tend to all your guests, and he even provide's a sheet protector for each drawing (so awesome). This review is long overdue. I contacted Frank to see if he could come to my daughter's first birthday party and he was very friendly and responsive via email. He was also extremely punctual and even beat me to the birthday party location. Pricing was extremely reasonable, and his work and good-natured personality were more than worth it. Frank set up shop on an elevated stage area, so the majority of my guests easily went up there to meet him and get their caricatures done. I have an older uncle who isn't as mobile as he used to be, and Frank took note of him trying to get to the stage using his walker. Frank picked up his pencil and drawing pad, told my uncle to go sit back down, and went and sat with him at his table to do his caricature. I can't put a price on that kind of thoughtfulness. Booked Frank for my daughter's Moana Themed birthday party on Sept 1, 2018 at Kapiolani Park. There were other caricature artists but I preferred the pencil drawing vs colored, more original for me. He arrived ahead of time and quickly set up and was ready to go. Frank has a streamlined process that allows a higher volume of drawing of guests which also allowed guests to return to do additional drawing of themselves as other characters. He brought pre printed character bodies and he would draw on face/faces and they were on point as you'll see on the pictures I have provided. I wanted something different and an addition to photo booth.. this was a great decision! Babies, children, adults, and the elderly all lined up for a drawing! To see our guests interact, participate, and walk off with their drawing, showing it off, laughing/smiling brought an awesome sense of satisfaction as the host of the party. Frank was one of the best highlights of the day that we requested an additional hour for a total of 3 hours. Frank is a genuine artist and a character himself, he had our guests feeling comfortable and laughing. At one point I came by the table and was surprised that my niece was drawing Frank! He did my sons first birthday party at Hawaii Okinawa Center on FEBRUARY 3 2017 with 200 guests and he was a hit! Better than the normal face painting and balloon twisting and photo booth that normal parties have. It was something different, everyone liked it.
