I met Frank at an unfortunate place lol.. the Queens West ER. He was a patient and I was a visitor for my mom in the room. I sat on the chair next to him and we chatted about his business and I mentioned that I believe he did pics for me and my family. I found them!! I think it was back in 2019. Very friendly and so willingly to draw anyone willing in the ER. The single pic on the right is a caricature of my dad while at the ER. I do hope all is well with him!! read more

Frank is an amazing local Ewa Beach caricature artist. We became friends as he created a high school senior graduation fireknife caricature gift for my youngest and did an "Obaachan" angel over my oldest for his 25th birthday gift. Both caricature artwork is amazing. Frank does caricature parties and if you want to add some personalized addition to your event, you will not be disappointed! Love all his work, not just my own. read more

So I realized almost a year later I forgot to write a Yelp review for Frank. Frank was one of the vendors for my daughters 1st birthday party and he was a hit! We got a lot of compliments from our guests who enjoyed his artwork. My father in law recently spoke about the party and how much he enjoyed his artwork, hence me writing this review. Get the projector option, it will be worth it! Scheduling with him was very easy with only a $25 deposit. There was some confusion between me and my sister both contacting him without each other knowing about it but Frank was so nice about the situation. You won't be disappointed if you hire him for your party! read more

For my husband's retirement party we wanted something more interesting than a photo booth that everyone seems to have at their events. We happened to be driving around our neighborhood and saw one of Frank's banners. Loved the idea of having our guests face drawn as a caricature! Frank responded right away. He was so personable and easy to work with. He arrived on time, set up quick and easy and stayed the entire duration of what we had agreed to. Everyone loved Frank and his work! He was so friendly, approachable, respectful, professional, chatted with the guests and made them laugh. His costs were very reasonable. Thank you so much, Frank!!! read more

We had Frank at a party for my work's 50th Anniversary Party and his caricatures were great! You are able to select from an array of different backgrounds - from warrior, ballerina, muscle man, beach babe, wonder woman, and more. After choosing, Frank then sketches your face on the background, and viola! You're automatically a caricature. Frank was funny and nice and did a really great job. He even sets up a projector screen so you can watch as he draws others' caricatures. It really makes for a great time and is a valuable addition to any party, gathering, or event. People won't leave empty-handed, and what's more is that they have a fun, personalized, hand-drawn keepsake to take with them. Thanks for coming out, Frank. We really enjoyed your work! read more

It was my Auntie's birthday party at Natsunoya Tea house and I have to say the main attraction was the caricature drawings done by Frank! Everybody had a blast watching people get there caricatures drawn! What I liked was that he was super fast so there wasn't a long line! He has a nice display of all the portrait options numbered for your convenience and he has a projector screen so everyone can watch his lightning fast drawing of you come to life! Frank is also such a nice and genuine guy! He was patient with everyone including the kids! I would definitely recommend him for any party! read more

I was looking for caricature artists for my daughters 1st birthday and I didn't find Frank until I was looking around through yelp after the original caricature person I contacted wasn't available. When in doubt use Yelp! Thank God I found Caricatures by Frank because he was available for our daughters party when i inquired about availability about four months prior to the event. After reading all his positive reviews on yelp, I also checked out his website to see his services and rates to see if it would be reasonable to hire him. Definitely worth the price and caricature entertainment for guests at your party. He services any type of event you may have that will guarantee put on a show. Get the live drawing screen projection, it makes the interaction with the crowd fill with amusement. Communication with Frank was a breeze, all he required was a $25 deposit to secure the date until the full payment due upon the event. Prices are quite reasonable for the work he presents. Charges $325 for two hours and $100 for each additional hour. If you want the live projection feed, it's an additional $125. It's worth it! He brings a banner of preset body templates for you to choose from and draws your caricature of your head on it. He does it in less than 3 minutes so he can do quite a lot within the hour. Although we had multiple vendors there at the party, he was a huge hit with lines waiting to have heir picture drawn. Frank is very personable and prompt. He arrived early to set up for the event and was eager to serve our guests. His motto is to put on a great show and he did not disappoint at all! What impressed me the most is that I didn't get a chance to get a caricature of my daughter since it was such a hectic night but as he was packing to leave, he still offered to do it for her! What an awesome gesture. Definitely will use him for future events. Thank you Uncle Frank for being a part of our daughters royal 1st birthday celebration! read more

Frank is awesome! I hired him to perform at my husband's company holiday party and I am so glad that I did. Frank arrived early so that he was already in place with his poster and tools set-up when the party began. He immediately attracted the guests, who had a great time deciding which of the over 60 choices they choose for their drawing. As each guest walked away from him, they were smiling and happy to show off the art. He drew my daughter near the beginning of the party, and my husband and myself as the last guest. He is very nice, professional and personable. I totally recommend Frank for your next special event. read more

Uncle Frank came to the rescue last Saturday for my baby's 1st birthday luau! A little background...I'm originally from the mainland where a first birthday party is like cake and family over. NOT in Hawaii :-) Apparently we should have been planning the party before Brooklyn was even born (along with applying for preschools...but that's another story!). So less than a month before the party, I emailed him to see if he was available. My begging and pretty pretty pleases worked! He took pity on me and squeezed us in. I also choose Frank because of his brilliant method of coming prepared...he has over 60 caricatures to choose from and the bodies are already completed. Frank was FAST and awesome! When you have close to 100 guests and only 3 hours, you get the most bang for your buck with Uncle Frank. Your guests just pick which one they want (remembering the number was the hardest part), let him know and sit still for only 2-3 minutes. My 1 year old baby could do it, but even more amazing was that my full of energy, slightly ADHD realtor mom sat still long enough for a hilarious caricature before she bounded off to greet more guests. He also handed out sheet protectors so they didn't get covered in cake. We received a lot of positive comments from our guests. The price was right at under $500. I was so happy with him that I added a small tip when I paid him. I got a very nice email back that evening where he thanked me with humility, enjoyed the party, and seemed genuinely surprised and grateful that I did tip him. Great artist and overall great guy. Mahalo Uncle Frank....you really were a lifesaver! read more

I was in a training with Frank and what a personality he has! He did a drawing of me and I was impressed at how quick he was. It came out really well, too. My wife and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Frank for parties! We hired Frank for our son's first birthday and Frank was a big hit! Communicating with Frank was super easy, especially since we live on the mainland. We would email him any questions we had and he would respond almost immediately. We sent him our son's invitation so he had information about the party and venue. We were surprised when he responded with a drawing of our son based off the picture on his invitation. We didn't ask for it and he just did it. Super cool! We wanted to have the projector screen, which guests can watch while he draws, but the space for him was too small, so he quickly adapted and we decided not to use the screen and he didn't charge us for it. His setup was quick and easy and he was up and ready to start drawing! The quality and creativity of his drawings are amazing! Quick and on point! Our guest were really impressed. He had a lot of different templates to choose from and interacted with our guests while he drew and he drew them fast! Great sense of humor and very entertaining! I found Frank on Yelp, because I wanted to hire a caricature artist for my son's 1st birthday party. I chose him based on the Yelp reviews I read, and I'm glad I did! Frank is awesome! He showed up to my sons party early to set up, and was on time to start drawing for our guest's. He was a hit! If you decide to hire frank, make sure you also get a projector to display the images for all your guest's to see (he can provide a projector, just inquire with him). It was cute to see all the kids getting their caricature drawings on the projector, especially when you're running around trying to tend to all your guests, and he even provide's a sheet protector for each drawing (so awesome). He's easy to work with/contact via phone or email and he always responds which is great because planning a party can be so stressful! What impressed me the most about frank was that when he was packed, paid and ready to leave, one of my guests asked him if he could do his drawing because he didn't have a chance to stop by his table at the party, and he stayed to do his drawing! Talk about great customer service! Overall, I would definitely hire Frank again, he was very professional, and my guests definitely enjoyed their caricature drawings, such a great keepsake! read more

Frank did an outstanding at our employee party. His drawings brought a lot of smiles and laughter, I'm glad he had the projector because it is really cool to see him create these sketches, definitely order the option with the projector! If you and your guests appreciate creativity and talent, you will appreciate the signed portrait you get to take home as a keepsake from your event. Frank is really great answering calls, responding to email, and knows exactly what kind of set up is needed so no guesswork for me! Frank is awesome...so friendly, prompt, and accommodating. A lot of people got their drawing by him and was very happy with it! We didnt have time to get our daughters drawing done so he said we could send a picture of her...choose which character we wanted and he would mail it back to us which he did and it came out awesome! I attended a birthday party at Dave & Busters and Frank was there for us party go-ers to get a caricature done. He had a wide selection to choose from for the lower body and then he would draw your face on that body. Some options: Superwoman, singer, mermaid, princess, sports, etc... Frank was very patient with the little ones as they had to keep still so he could draw from the side profile. The drawings are very high quality and highly reccomended to add a touch to your special celebration! Not only was it fun for the little ones but also for us adults. read more

This review is long overdue. I contacted Frank to see if he could come to my daughter's first birthday party and he was very friendly and responsive via email. He was also extremely punctual and even beat me to the birthday party location. Pricing was extremely reasonable, and his work and good-natured personality were more than worth it. Frank set up shop on an elevated stage area, so the majority of my guests easily went up there to meet him and get their caricatures done. I have an older uncle who isn't as mobile as he used to be, and Frank took note of him trying to get to the stage using his walker. Frank picked up his pencil and drawing pad, told my uncle to go sit back down, and went and sat with him at his table to do his caricature. I can't put a price on that kind of thoughtfulness. In short, hire Frank! He is well worth it and I appreciate everything he did that day. read more

Frank Uratani arrived early to my son's grad party and immediately set-up and began drawing caricatures for the guests. His work was projected on a screen for everyone to be amazed at! We were all excited and thrilled to get our portrait done. Frank had many drawings to select from. People were amazed and giggled at the assortment of pictures. He was quite fast when sketching; guests kept saying how little time he took for each caricature. He did not disappoint each guest. Everyone was extremely happy to receive their picture. Booked Frank for my daughter's Moana Themed birthday party on Sept 1, 2018 at Kapiolani Park. There were other caricature artists but I preferred the pencil drawing vs colored, more original for me. He arrived ahead of time and quickly set up and was ready to go. Frank has a streamlined process that allows a higher volume of drawing of guests which also allowed guests to return to do additional drawing of themselves as other characters. He brought pre printed character bodies and he would draw on face/faces and they were on point as you'll see on the pictures I have provided. I wanted something different and an addition to photo booth.. this was a great decision! Babies, children, adults, and the elderly all lined up for a drawing! To see our guests interact, participate, and walk off with their drawing, showing it off, laughing/smiling brought an awesome sense of satisfaction as the host of the party. Frank was one of the best highlights of the day that we requested an additional hour for a total of 3 hours. Frank is a genuine artist and a character himself, he had our guests feeling comfortable and laughing. At one point I came by the table and was surprised that my niece was drawing Frank! This tells you a lot about his character, I thought it was the cutest thing although she's an adult herself hahaha! Frank is the local braddah to have and he comes with the ALOHA spirit!
