The wait time is terrible, but the staff is cool and very helpful. Like super helpful, I went in there freaking out for the reason i was there. After talking to the nurse and physician, I was more at ease. They were so kind, so patient, and just really overall great. They gave me options and was really trying to accommodate me. The medical staff was great, when they were open. I tried going back last week after work. I called ahead to check to see if there was a long wait and the phone just kept ringing. I decided to go anyway because I really didn't feel like the chaos of driving to AFC Urgent Care in Chestnut Hill. After driving all the way to Needham, I arrive at the door to find a sign that says they are closed. No other information. Are you kidding me? Why isn't there a message on their phone system? And why are they randomly closed at 5pm on a weekday?! Still not feeling like driving to Chestnut Hill, I drove all the way to AFC Waltham during rush hour while not feeling well. Whoever is in charge of Carewell Needham obviously doesn't care about their patients...even if you have to close unexpectedly, set a message on your phone system so that anyone diligent enough to call ahead doesn't get extremely inconvenienced unnecessarily while experiencing a medical event. Also, note that the last time I went, their X-ray wasn't available so that's something else to be mindful of. They're not reliable, I'll be avoiding from now on. read more

Terrible! The front desk girl was rude and disrespectful. On her Phone the whole time laughing like she's at a frat party. When I asked her a question she looked like she wanted to punch me. The nurse was nice, but had no idea what she was doing. She couldn't get a needle in my son's arm. She tried 2 times and looked totally inexperienced. The wait time was the worst! So if you want a rude front desk girl, a nurse who can't put a needle in your son's arm and then have to wait forever then this place is for you. Called first to check restrictions due to covid. I was there in the morning and info given to me over the phone was incomplete. Had to go again on the next day. Huge line and it was only to set an appointment and not to see a doctor! Why do that? Can't we use the website for that? So again the second misinformation. Finally at the end of the day they called to set my appointment to only get even more frustrated as they do not work with any sort of injuries involving a car accident. One patient before us asked for an update to the Hispanic/Puerto Rican/Domincan girl at the front desk & MA/front desk person went towards back of clinic & slammed the door shouting "I need patience today." After the patient was called the two front desk ladies were talking about her. Also, the check-in lady was having personal phone calls while we were waiting. i'll give them two stars (one extra star) because the nurse that ultimately saw me was kind - but basically this is a one-star place. i took the time to make an appt online and then still had to wait over an hour to see a nurse. i've been here before and was able to see an actual doctor - but not this time - long wait...for a nurse. i had some craziness going on with my right eye. i knew it wasn't a stye but the nurse insisted it was a prescribed an antibiotic ointment to put inside my eye 3x/day. i eventually went to an eye doctor who told me it wasn't a stye at all but rather a chalazion - which is NOT treated with antibiotics. oh - and they charged me $175 (for ineffective care). lol. needless to say i won't be returning to carewell in needham. read more

Canceled my appointments two days in a row because they decided to close early, on the third day showed up to my appointment early, they took me to a room to be seen, sat there for close to an hour and nobody ever came in while I could hear the nurses just chatting outside the room. This is a terrible place to go for COVID tests. I have been sick for 3 days and my doctor said to get a COVID test. Care well refused to submit it to my insurance company because I no longer had a fever. Unbelievable! Why else would I be there for a test unless I had been symptomatic.....? They hire people who give you the wrong information (the female at the front desk facing the bathrooms) , and these people don't even bother to double check the accuracy of the information that they give to you. Then they have the audacity to lie about giving you the wrong information. Call ahead of time for specific instructions before actually coming and make sure it's from someone who knows what they're doing. If possible try to write down their names too so that next time when you come in and they tell you something otherwise, you can call it out on their face and report them. read more

A sleazy business! Even if I were dying I would not go back to this place. I recently went in because I had a tick bite which looked suspiciously as though it might've been Lyme disease. I found CareWell on my insurer's website, & when I went in I presented my insurance information to the receptionist, & she said oh, yeah you're covered. I then went to see a Physician's Assistant who told me not to worry.....and presented me with some information that I am sure he just pulled off the internet. Honestly I had a horrible experience with care well in needham. I checked in at 9 and was told to wait 2-3 hours for my rapid test. By 1:30 I was still waiting. upon calling for wait times, staff were extremely rude. I went 30 min back home and waited, as I was told I had a few more hours to wait. It is now 5 pm , no call. I called again, and was told I might not be even taken today!! On top Of that, I went on friday night but they couldn't take me and told me to come back early in the morning for 15 minute results. I have to get a negative result to return to my university, and this process has only added frustration to the stress of that. I understand these are tough times and it is out of the control of the staff when things get done, but the lack of communication and updates is simply unacceptable during the nature of this pandemic. read more

Lots of attitude. Also, the doctor ran more than $500 in extra tests that my fiance specifically told to the doctors face not to run. Doctor ordered the tests anyway, then blamed us for not "reading over the discharge form you signed". My fiance was sick, and taken advantage of. I've never had to carefully read a discharge form ANYWHERE to check that the doctor was not running tests she explicitly was told not to run. I mean how deceitful can you be? Then to robotically repeat "you signed the form" over and over again, and provide no help? Now we have to pay $250 out of pocket because the reason we didn't want those tests is because we are low income and literally can't afford it. Thanks for forcing us into financial hardship Carewell. You get in line to scan a QR code to get in line for an appointment. The man facilitating everything was not wearing a mask. He got very close to me to talk to me. He deals with positive COVID patients everyday , why would you put yourself at risk like that and how are you okay with putting us at risk. This is unacceptable and I am freaked out. The 800 number provided on this locations website is a call center which doesn't know what's going on with the actual office. Called to ask what information I needed to make an apt for Covid test and was told they're only accepting walk-ins. After an hour drive there the nurse (the guy with dark curly hair) was abrupt and rude in telling me that I need to get on a list - but the list is closed. There were people standing outside being told to call back in 30 minutes with no explanation that in 30 minutes they can *maybe* get in a list, but that they might as well go home because they'll only be able to make an appointment for a future time. The guy couldn't even take a minute to answer in full sentences to make sure people got the information they needed. For me, being 7 months pregnant, a little curtsey would've gone a long way. read more

Misdiagnosed my mother's shoulder pain as a dislocated shoulder on xray obtained at the urgent care. Went to ER, where repeat xrays showed no dislocation or fracture (xrays from the urgent care could not be viewed at the ER - files would not open). Horrible! I would rate this facility -20 if I could. I went in for a rapid covid test and as I waited in the room for the results, I decided to ask the staff some questions that came to mind. I opened the exam room and asked the "physician" and "nurses" some questions. As I asked questions relating to their responses, the "physician" jumped out of his seat and yelled, "OH MY GOD! WHY ARE YOU ASKING SO MANY DAMN QUESTIONS?" I couldn't believe it at first, but yup, it was true - I had just been yelled at by this so-called physician because I (as a patient) asked questions. The so-called nurse who was in the background, doing things with the tests, chimed in and was extremely condescending and rude! I then felt completely uncomfortable at that point and went to the front desk to tell the front desk staff what had just happened. The "nurse" then decided to come to the front desk to tell me that she was going to THROW AWAY MY COVID TEST RESULTS because I was "causing a scene". Hmmm...it's crazy to me how fast she reversed the story to make it seem that I was the aggressive one, causing a scene. Is it because I'm Hispanic??? I guess I'll never know. Long story short - the staff is RUDE, CONDESCENDING, UNLAWFUL, and just pure UNPROFESSIONAL. Oh - and to add to that, when I spoke to the "practice manager", Matthew C., over the phone, he was equivalently unprofessional. He also told me someone above him would reach out to me the following week and no one ever did! The phone service there is just non-existent. If you try to place a complaint, you basically get no where. SMH! These workers may have been overly worked and tired, I understand that, but that does NOT, in any way, condone how they treated me. I had waited ALL day, literally, for this appointment! It baffles me how they think throwing away patient covid tests is an okay thing to do - like it's not adding to the spread of the pandemic here! One star is too high ! Dr Edward Levitan should not be an independent practice physician. He has no bedside manner and borders on incompetent and unethical practice, medical malpractice. I have already called the medical director of care to report him. He never introduced himself to me or my son before X-rays were ordered. He did not step into the exam room, do an exam or have a conversation about why we were there. He never touched, look or spoke to us until after X-rays were completed. He Never entered the room, before ordering X-rays. We waited over an hour. He was rude to me and unprofessional. I asked him if he was planning to touch or examine my child, only then he did a basic exam. Never asked him to stand or walk to determine the level of injury. He was rude to me and in front of my son . As stated above I plan to file a formal complaint to the medical board. He is a fraud and his last office , in allergy was shut down. Honestly this was a horrible experience. The doctor came in knowing nothing that I had told the nurse. The doctor looked at my leg(a healing poison ivy rash) and told me I had a fungal infection, which was totally untrue. Then she looked at another rash that had been scratched open and told me it was getting infected, which it was not. So she PRESCRIBED me hydrocortisone creme which is over the counter and antibiotics for the imaginary infection. I called my insurance company and told them not to pay they said it doesn't work like that. steer clear of this place. Waste of time and money. read more

I walked into Carewell Needham on a Tuesday night at 7:30pm with my 1.5 yr old who had a cough/ear infection. First off, I got a death stare from the two nurses because I went in the wrong entrance which was the last thing I could really care about with a sick kid so didn't really need or appreciate the attitude. I was seen quickly and the nurse and doctor were fairly nice and seemed knowledgeable. However, my huge issue was the incorrect dosage given to my child. He was prescribed Amoxicillin and I was told to give him 1 tablespoon three times daily. When I went to CVS to get the prescription, the pharmacist told me they could not give it to me because it was 3x the recommended dose for a child of his age and weight. The pharmacist also informed me this has happened multiple times with this urgent care location which I find unacceptable. Giving an incorrect dosage once or twice I can maybe see happening, but it happening all the time seems worrisome. Although my experience there wasn't all that bad, and i got what i needed, this really ruined it. The pharmacists at CVS were absolutely great, I would have them double check your prescriptions if you visit this location. read more

I have had two experiences at CareWell in Needham; once for my husband who was bitten by a dog and once for myself for a lingering cough. Both times we were greeted cheerfully in a bright clean facility, treated promptly and efficiently. It is so much easier than the emergency room, or having to make the Dr. appointment for certain problems that they are set up to handle. read more

The staff at CareWell Newton, MA has been very professional and helpful. The care given by the doctors and nurses has been consistently good. As long as my condition isn't critical, I'll always choose to go there Vs a hospital ER. I can even make an appointment via phone or internet, which improves my chances of having a short wait time. read more

I had never considered going to an urgent care place in the past, but I did not feel like going and waiting hours in an emergency room. The staff was wonderful at Carewell! Within a short period of time, I was seen by the doctor, had an x-ray and had my hand casted. They gave me paperwork with names and phone numbers of orthopedics in the local area. Awful, just awful. The employees don't care how long you've been waiting. The "doctor", nurse and other employees were sitting around doing nothing the whole time my son and I waited. They couldn't tell me how long we'd be waiting nor did they seem concerned that we left to go to another urgent care office after waiting for 45 minutes. NO OTHER patients were in the office so I'm not sure what the hold up was. While waiting at the office I made an appointment at another urgent care office nearby. They saw us in five minutes and my son was diagnosed with strep throat immediately. The employees and anyone affiliated with this place should be embarrassed. If their child was sick I'm sure they'd want efficient, professional care, neither of which are available here. DO NOT go to this business. They should be ashamed of themselves.
