The OBGYN department is terrible. The doctor I saw had poor bedside manner and provided subpar clinical care.

Patient Feedback: I…read moresaw this ENT for a minor ear issue. While I don't expect every doctor to have perfect bedside manner, my experience during this visit left me uncomfortable. The doctor asked about my profession, but before I could answer, he interrupted and guessed that I was an administrative assistant. While I've held that role before and respect it deeply, the assumption -- and the way it was delivered -- came across as dismissive and unprofessional. He also explained post-care instructions in a tone that felt overly condescending, including how to avoid getting water in my ear as if I'd never taken a shower before. I came for medical care, not to be talked down to. Additionally, the office staff didn't inform me that the doctor was running 30 minutes behind. A simple heads-up would have gone a long way toward showing respect for patients' time. I recognize that other reviews speak highly of this physician, so perhaps I caught him on an off day. Still, the interaction felt unnecessarily patronizing and left a poor impression. I will not be back. It's also worth mentioning that the office requires a credit card to be kept on file "just in case of charges." In all my years of visiting various doctors, I've never encountered that policy before, and it felt out of step with standard practice.

Dr Kieff seems like a pretty good ENT. The audiologist is very nice and (as far as I could tell)…read morevery competent & thorough. The admin staff, however... For some reason they use both MGB Patient Gateway and AthenaHealth, and it appears that they don't have either one set up properly. As a result, they besiege patients with reminders, confirmations, and early check-ins. Seven calls in less than a week. Text after text. (After STOP after STOP.) Emails upon emails. I called to make an appointment. No sooner had I hung up than the phone rang with their number. Thinking they were calling back to let me know there was a problem or something, I rather foolishly answered. Nope. Automated reminder about the appointment I had literally just made. Productive! And their response? Breathtaking lack of empathy, self-awareness, and responsibility. It's not their fault. Nothing's their fault. Never. Why are you even talking to us about this? Can't you see we're not interested? Twice as frustrating as all the calls and messages combined. "The computer did that, not me." Um, actually, only half the calls were from the computer. The rest were from two of them sitting five feet apart who didn't coordinate. Can't blame the computer for that! "We don't control that." Really? Who do they think controls it? Because we're old enough to see a lot of doctors pretty often in this house, and they're the only ones with this problem. And, as has been elsewhere observed, they have a bizarre obsession with having a credit card on file so they can bill the patient for whatever, whenever. On my first visit, I pulled out my Apple Card (which does not have any visible card information) and they just about lost their minds. They nearly refused to keep the appointment because they couldn't make a copy of it in case they needed to charge me later. (Spoiler alert: they didn't.) They had to get Dr Kieff to make a special exception to their policy. And, as with the notification problem, this appears to be entirely because they don't know and don't care how the technology the practice depends on actually works. While I was in the waiting room, the person ahead of me checking out was complaining about the exact same thing. And they got the exact same dismissive response I eventually got, along with some very unnecessary sarcasm. When my turn came, the minute I told them I was frustrated by this, they sternly told me to leave. (Which I did, never to return.) I think they knew I was going to ask to speak to the Doctor about it since they clearly didn't care. They're also the ones that answer the phones and open the mail. My guess is that while they surely generate a lot of these types of complaints, they're also able to keep those complaints from ever making it to the doctor. So I suspect Dr. Kieff, who, again, seems like a pretty decent ENT, is not aware of much of this. Which is a shame.

Dr. Wong ( both Drs. Wong, the NPR and the nurses are all wonderful as well as Alma!…read moreI love them all and have sent many friends there as well. I have many allergies and complex related issues and I wouldn't go anywhere else ! I was referred to them by my MGH primary care.

I had a mixed experience at this office. They seem to be one of the only offices in the Boston area…read morethat does allergy injections, so that is a plus. Dr. Wong himself is very kind and seemed to be very informed on recent updates in the allergy world. He pays close attention to what you tell him and does a thorough examination. He noticed something that my former allergist didn't. However, to echo some others on this forum, some of his staff is not professional or particularly friendly. The front desk person tends to be welcoming enough (though not a great communicator and (perhaps unintentionally) impolite at times), but the two nurses(?) or technicians who administer the shots are not friendly. One of them (the younger one) is just neutral, but the other one is irritable and unpleasant to interact with. The longer you come in, the less unwelcoming they become, but that's certainly a low bar to set. More importantly, they really don't know what they're doing. They can administer shots, but that's about it. Compared to the other allergist I've been to, their knowledge and expertise was severely lacking. They would not inform you of important updates such as serum expiration or changes in shot timing, and multiple times I found them reading my papers, confused (an actual quote from one of them: "I don't understand this at all"--not something you usually want to hear from your healthcare provider). When there was something amiss (such as coming in a week early because they didn't inform you that you were now up to every 4 weeks) they would blame you and act as if you were silly for not knowing what they should have told you. They also don't bother making sure you stay to check your shots after 30 minutes as is the standard. I often had Alma (the front desk person) check my shots as the nurse would see me and actually disappear to the back room to avoid doing extra work. Also, their whole system seems to be still on paper, which makes the office run extremely slowly (again, in comparison to the other allergist I've been to). Important note for future patients: the allergy shot hours are very limited, and they shortened them further at some point in the past year or so. They also only run them during the work day and work week (Tues Thurs) and take an hour and a half lunch break from 11:30 to 1. Anyway, the overall vibe of the office is not UNpleasant, but not pleasant. The quality of care is okay. If you have a different office closer, I would look into going there, but this isn't a bad option.

I have been to Newton-Wellesley a few times and have had a great experience every time. I was…read morerecently rushed to the ER here with appendicitis (yuck!), and the ER overnight staff did a great job caring for me. They gave me a diagnosis within 4 hours and next steps despite not having a radiologist to read my results present (they outsourced). You'll notice people in the reviews will say you might be placed in the hallway, which was the case for me, but you will see that in every hospital. The ER is always overbooked and understaffed everywhere. Over the course of the night the staff regularly checked in on me, ran all of the necessary tests, and prepped me adequately for emergency surgery the next morning. The staff was truly exceptional, the surgical teams are incredible here. My surgery went flawlessly and they also did a great job with post-op follow ups, calling me promptly and scheduling my 2-week post op check in ASAP. During my surgery, they kept my contacts in the loop throughout the process. I thank everyone who helped me here at Newton-Wellesley and highly recommend choosing this hospital.

Or just a couple miles from the pike. Limited parking at the entrance for handicap and some charging spots. Usually those are taken so you have to go to the lower parking spot and walk up a ton of stairs. There's also the option to valet which is $12 or only $4 if you have a handicap placard. To get to the lab/imaging location, when entering turn right after the check-in station, then go straight to the end of the hall and then left. You'll see a wooden desk on your right to check in. There's a small waiting room there, but also a larger room across the hall. They're not a lot of phlebotomy stalls, but they move pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and efficient. This is a good option for getting labs vs driving into Boston.

Update on the membership review!!!…read more I'm happy that I can update my recent review of Visions medical center. They worked with me privately so I could continue to work with my doctor, Dr Emsbo. I'm grateful that I don't have to switch doctors and can continue to get care from the great medical team at Visions medical center. It's greatly appreciated!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!

I got an email this morning notifying me that Visions was closing down, which prompted me to review…read morethe place (since I had not earlier due to concerns of my billing issues not being worked out). I went here for dietary assistance since I have difficulties with so much food, and I thought they might be able to help. The person I met with was very nice, however the outcomes of several meetings in a row was "see me next time and we'll continue this conversation." I came here to have some measurable outcome, and even after 4 appointments, I came away with absolutely nothing. Much of what was recommended to me had little to no scientific or clinical basis, and the rationale was "pharmaceutical companies don't make money from this so are hiding the data." That sounds like scam science to me. They wanted blood tests, and a number of other items, which "only Visions could do" which also strikes me as a money grab. Speaking of money grab, they have a ridiculously expensive membership fee, which doesn't lower costs for appointments or anything else. I don't know how they expected to stay in business with this? They had all sorts of ghost costs, which when I called my insurance company had not been part of the agreement (Insurance says they charge me my copay, insurance covers rest; Visions charged me copay plus about $7). they then fight this, and threaten to knock your credit score over $7, which is just small enough to pay to not have to deal with, but large enough that when they do that with hundreds of customers they make a tidy profit. Short story: No great loss that this place is disappearing. Maybe if they had done actual medicine and not instituted their membership fee and bad business practices, they'd still be there.
